Joyce Young
Joyce Hope Young, 73, of King Camp Branch, Varney, died Thursday July 4, 2013 at her residence.
She was born June 13, 1940, in Pike County, the daughter of the late James Landon and Belle Francis Williamson.
She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a brother, J. B. Williamson Jr.; two sisters, Betty Ruth Lowe and Ola Mae Williamson.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Young; a son, Billy Gene Young; two brothers, Kenneth Williamson of Hatfield and Ralph Williamson of Pikeville.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 7 at Community Funeral Home with Gary Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Gene and Joyce Young Memorial Cemetery at Varney.
Arrangements are under the direction of Community Funeral Home.
Vernon Billiter
Vernon Billiter Jr. of Dandridge, Tenn., went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, June 28, 2013, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Vernon was a retired coal miner from Pikeville and a member of Central Heights Baptist Church, who first loved his Lord and his family.
He leaves behind a host of family and friends who loved him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Kelsie Meta (Thacker) Billiter of Dandridge; one brother, Reford Billiter of Pikeville; two sisters, Racine Bevins and Jeanette Varney of Pikeville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnnie Dean Billiter and Patricia Ann (Lewis) Billiter of Dandridge, Jamie Lee Billiter and Sandra Carol (Smith) Billiter of Pikeville; six grandchildren, James Mathew Billiter of Pikeville, William Oliver Billiter of Prestonsburg, Leah Christina Billiter Collins of Pikeville, Fallon Nicole Billiter Todd of Greenville, S.C., Jeremiah Daniel Billiter of Lexington and Destiny Christian Billiter of Dandridge; seven great-grandchildren, Bryson Draeger, Lilly Blackburn, Elijah Blackburn, Addison Ayers, Haylee Todd, Sawyer Collins, Taryn Collins and Jase Todd.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends who loved him.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Monday, July 1, in the Farrar Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Buell officiating. Interment graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Hills Union Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Farrar Funeral Home of Dandridge.
Polly Cottner
Polly Ellen Kimberlain Cottner, 86, of Abilene, Texas, died Friday, June 28, 2013.
She was born in Pikeville, March 25, 1927, the daughter of the late Arthur Kimberlain and Nora Lockhart Kimberlain.
She was employed by F.W. Woolworth's Dime Store in Miami, Fla., for 40 years and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Cottner, whom she married
in 1949; three brothers, Don Kimberlain, Ed Kimberlain and Steven Kimberlain; and two sisters, Edith Lawson and Ruth Sherrow.
She is survived by two sons, David Cottner and Daniel Cottner, both of Abilene; one brother, David Kimberlain of Miami Lakes, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery, Abilene, with Bro. Freddie Gillentine officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home of Abilene.

Ersel Ramey
Ersel Ramey, 95, of Mouthcard, died Friday, June 28, 2013, in Bishop, Va.
He was born at Mouthcard, April 2, 1918, the son of the late Anderson Ramey and Harriett Fleming Ramey.
He was a coal miner and a member of United Mine Workers of America.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Cavins Ramey; one brother, Cecil Ramey; two sisters, Hazy Shortridge and June Childress; and one granddaughter.
He is survived by four sons, Freelin "Bud" Ramey of Houston, Kenneth Ramey and Paul Douglas Ramey, both of Minneapolis, Minn., and Landon Ramey of Georgetown; three daughters, Harriett Kathleen Abraham of Kennesaw, Ga., Barbara Lopez of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Bonnie Roberts of Bishop; 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, nine stepgreat-grandchildren, and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, Va. Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Floydetta Runyon
Floydetta "Poochie" Runyon, 71, of Canada, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born at Canada, Jan. 26, 1942, the daughter of the late Floyd B. and Gracie Smith.
Poochie was secretary at Bevins Elementary School for over 30 years. She was also a member of Stone Chapter #533 O.E.S. and the Highland Presbyterian Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, David I. Runyon; one son, David Runyon II (Jennifer) of Canada; two daughters, Teressa Runyon Gibbs (Roger A.) of London and Melissa Runyon of Paris; six grandchildren, James David Gibbs, Hannah Rose Gibbs, Samantha Paige Blair, Stephanie Nicole Blair, Zachary David Runyon and Emma Grace Runyon; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Lattimore and the Rev. Bill VanZant officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Sidney, with James David Gibbs, Zachary David Runyon, Benjamin Smith, Madison Thornsbury, Paul Cochran, Joey Cochran and Franklin D. Smith serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Ritz, Charles Ritz, Benjamin Russell, Billy Smith, Tevis Branham and Charles Fuzzy Keesee. Visitation will be held after 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, in the funeral home chapel. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Patricia Wagman
Patricia Ann "Pat" Kidwell Wagman, 65, of Perryville, Md., died Saturday, June 29, 2013.
She was born in Matewan, W.Va., Feb. 2, 1948, the daughter of the late Harvey and Columbia McCoy Kidwell.
She was retired from the Department of Veterans Affairs of Perry Point, Md., and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Danny Kidwell, John Kidwell and Fred Kidwell.
She is survived by her husband, Dan Wagman; one brother, Jim Kidwell of Augusta, Maine; two sisters, Mary Hatfield and Janice Perkins, both of Perryville; and an aunt and several cousins in the Mingo/Pike area.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7, in the First Baptist Church of Perryville.

Ray Hampton
Ray Hampton, 68, of Dorton died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 22, 1944, in Pike County to the late Joseph and Audrey Hampton.
He was a retired coal truck driver.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorena Johnson Hampton.
He is survived by two sons, Dwayne Hampton of Dorton, Anthony Hampton of Dorton; two daughters, Lori Dishman of Jenkins, Barbara Tackett of Marrowbone; two brothers, Charles Hampton of Long Fork, Dana Hampton of Long Fork; four sisters, Faye Campbell of Ypsilanti, Mich., Carol Mullins of Virgie, Wanda Branham of Long Fork, Anita Hampton of Long Fork, nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Bethel Freewill Baptist Church with Freewill Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatler Burke Cemetery at Marshall’s Branch of Long Fork.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday at the church with services nightly at 7 p.m.
Raymond Fitch
Raymond Fitch, 83, of Sprigg, W.Va., died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington, W.Va.
He was born at Burnwell, March 25, 1930, the son of the late Cecil J. and Fonnie McCoy Fitch.
He was a retired coal miner and a former constable and deputy sheriff in Mingo County, W.Va. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America and was of the Baptist faith.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Deskins Fitch; three brothers, Cecil Fitch Jr., Arnold Ray Fitch and Donald Fitch; and three sisters, Rosetta Varney, Hazel Marie Harvill and Phyllis Ball.
He is survived by two sons, Franklin Fitch and Ralphy Fitch, both of Sprigg; two brothers, Jessie Fitch of Sprigg and John L. Fitch of Lexington; two sisters, Dorothy Sheffield of Spring Hill, Fla., and Mary Sands of Lakeland, Fla.; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the Hatfield Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Yates officiating. Burial will follow in the Fitch Family Cemetery, Sprigg. Arrangements are under direction of Hatfield Funeral Chapel.
Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Julia Gooslin
Julia Chapman Gooslin, 83, of Kimper, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, at her home.
She was born at Freeburn, May 24, 1930, the daughter of the late Henry Chapman and Florence Norman Chapman.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Gooslin; one son, Samuel Ray Gooslin of North Matewan, W.Va.; three daughters, Florence Ann Miner of Lexington, Karen Sue Smith of Phelps and Leona Kay Little of Raccoon; two sisters, Mary Blankenship of Lexington and Polly Clark of Orange Grove, Calif.; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, in the Gooslin Bottom Pentecostal Church with Benny Freeman and Kenny Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapman Cemetery, Barrenshea Creek of Freeburn. Arrangements are under direction of Phelps Funeral Services of Phelps.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. Friday with services at 7.
