Eli Mullins
Eli Mullins, 58, of Owl Branch of Dorton, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Pike County, June 12, 1956, the son of the late George and Marie Burke Mullins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Bill Mullins and Johnny Lee Mullins; and one sister, Eloise Mullins.
He is survived by one son, Jimmy Mullins of Troutman, N.C.; three brothers, James Robert Mullins, Phil Dee Mullins and Lou Solomon Mullins, all of Dorton; and two grandchildren, David James Mullins and Gerald Wayne Mullins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Dorton Freewill Baptist Church with Freewill Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Mullins Family Cemetery, Owl Branch of Dorton. Arrangements are under direction of Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
Visitation is at the church with special services at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Elizabeth Ramey
Elizabeth Ann Ramey, 53, of Stone, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at her home.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio, April 29, 1961, the daughter of the late Monroe Franklin and Patricia Ann May Cochran.
She was a retired cook from the Pike County Board of Education.
She is survived by one daughter, Jessica Ann Duruttya of Lexington; one son, Jeremy Hiram Cochran, stationed in Hawaii; two sisters, Virginia Muncy and Debbie Cochran, both of Stone; and one brother, James Cochran of Pennsylvania.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the First Baptist Church of Belfry with Bro. Mark Helton officiating. Arrangements were under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Janie Ray
Janie Ray, 89, of Erwin, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born in Erwin, May 24, 1925, the daughter of the late Roby Alfred Vanover and Eula May Edna Vanover.
She was a seamstress with the Steinway Corporation and a member of the Erwin Church of God.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brady Ray.
She is survived by one brother, Clifton Vanover of Belcher.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with Hollis Ratliff and Kris Dills officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Lorraine Robinette
Lorraine Robinette, 84, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of Hardy, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, Murfreesboro.
She was born at Forest Hills, Aug. 9, 1930, the daughter of the late Victor and Mae McCoy.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Belfry Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Robinette; one son, Donnie Franklin Robinette; one daughter, Patricia Robinette; four brothers; one sister; and one grandson.
She is survived by four daughters, Karen Cochran May of Lascassas, Tenn., Debbie Sloan of Smyrna, Tenn., Vicki Arnold of Bristol, Tenn., and Shelia Bamforth of Alexandria; three sons, Larry Robinette of Fort Gay, W.Va., Rick Robinette of Williamson, W.Va., and Bill Robinette of Murfreesboro; 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Mikey Smith officiating. Burial followed in Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy. Arrangements were under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
John Paul Runyon Sr.
John Paul Runyon Sr., 90, of Pikeville, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at his home.
He was born in Pikeville, Aug. 27, 1924, the son of the late John Auburn Runyon and Lyda McCoy Runyon.
He was commonwealth attorney for 40 years and also served as county attorney. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the First Christian Church of Pikeville.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Faith Phillips.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Cleghon Runyon; and one son, John Paul Runyon Jr. (Monica) of Cincinnati.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Brian J. Nierman officiating. Burial followed in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville. Arrangements were under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Pallbearers were Randy Roberts, Mike Holbrook, John Phillips, John Cleghon, Carl Johnson and James Slone.

Bertha Smith
Bertha Smith, 81, of Pinsonfork, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, in the Skilled Nursing Facility of the Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center, South Williamson.
She was born in McVeigh, May 22, 1933, the daughter of the late Willie and Sally May Smith.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Folden and Stella Hardy; and three brothers, Okey Smith, Buster Smith and Glenn Norman.
She is survived by one daughter, Belinda Denise Smith of Madisonville; one sister, Celia Smith of Pinsonfork; and two grandsons, Bobby Darrell Smith of Peachtree City, Ga., and Bryan David Smith of Miami, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Gerria Reynolds officiating. Burial followed in the Charlie Runyon Cemetery, Pinsonfork. Arrangements were under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Judith Smith
Judith Smith, 69, of Canada, died Saturday, Jan. 24, at St. Mary's Hospital, Huntington, W.Va.
She was born at Hardy, June 5, 1945, the daughter of late Homer and Bertha Smith.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bobby Smith; five children, Robin Dee Mayfield and Roger Dean Farley, both of Ft. Worth, Texas, Regina DeAnn Wright of Williamson, W.Va., Alta Bridgett Willis of Belfry and Whitney Nicole Brinager of Lenore, W.Va.; two sisters, Barbara Yvonne Ray of Nashville, Tenn., and Sue Carol Sammons of Matewan, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Cemetery, Sidney. Arrangements were under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Ruby Thacker
Ruby Jean Thacker, 74, of Right Fork of Red Creek, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at King's Daughters Hospital, Ashland.
She was born in Pikeville, Oct. 14, 1940, the daughter of the late Jewette Thacker and Vicy Dales Thacker.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Harmon and Lorell Thacker.
She is survived by one son, Randy Punky Thacker; six brothers, Jewette Reid Thacker, Jack Thacker, Leon Thacker, Phillip Thacker, Eddie Dean Thacker, Richard Dale Thacker; and two sisters, Pauline Huffman and Teresa Lynn Griggs.
Funeral services were held at noon Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Lucas & Son Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Thacker Family Cemetery, Red Creek. Arrangements were under direction of Lucas & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Judy Warrix
Judy Carol Warrix, 64, of Pikeville, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at her home.
She was born in Pikeville, Aug. 12, 1950, the daughter of the late Edgar Worrix and Hazel Little Worrix.
She was a former employee of Model City Day Care and the Methodist Church Nursery.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Edgar Eugene Worrix, Earl Clyde Warrix, Charles Edward Worrix and Tracy Joe Worrix; and three sisters, Virginia Darryl Cook, Sandra Looney and Sammie Loonie.
She is survived by Kevin Worrix and Suzanne Worrix, who she took in as her own.
She is also survived by three brothers, Johnny Hiram Worrix and James David Worrix, both of Pikeville, Kenneth Wayne Worrix of Ashcamp; two sisters, Sharon Elizabeth Sawyers of Grapevine and Pauletta Keathley of Harold; and six grandchildren, taken in as her own, Cherish Worrix, Cameron Worrix, Keian Worrix, Kyla Worrix, Brody Worrix and Sandra Caldwell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the J.W. Call Funeral Home Chapel with Bud Crum, Robert Justice and Keith Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Ratliff Cemetery, Coal Run Village. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Special services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Bennie Williamson
Bennie Lee (John) Williamson, 73, of Varney, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born in Pike County, June 9, 1941, the son of the late Marshall and Mary Young Williamson.
He was a mechanic in the coal industry.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Yvonne Williamson; one brother, David Williamson; and two sisters, Lois Robinette and Betty Jean Williamson.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Jane Robinson Maynard Williamson; five children, Erick (Mechella) Williamson of Kimper, Mitchell (Patty) Williamson of Lavonia, Mich., Keith (Kristie) Maynard of Dorton, Greg Maynard of Red Creek and Glinda Taylor of Brushy; four siblings, Clint Williamson and Vera (Lonnie) Walters, both of Varney, Mary (James) Young of Michigan and Barb (Gary) Ratliff of Spring City, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, in the Pilgrim Home Old Regular Baptist Church with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial followed in the Williamson Family Cemetery, Varney. Arrangements were under direction of Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.
Loretta Williams
Loretta Williams, 87, of Lick Creek, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born at Lick Creek, June 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Bud Short and Kanzada Sawyers Short.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Lick Creek Holiness Church.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Williams; five brothers, Earsel Short, Coaster Short, Elmer Short, Paul Short and Benny Short; and one sister, Eunice Short Bishop.
She is survived by four daughters, Linda Sawyers, Karen Fuller, Diana Adkins and Patricia Ward, all of Lick Creek; one sister, Mary Lou Gunter of Waxhaw, N.C.; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, in the Lick Creek Holiness Church with Danny Hess and Rick Sayers officiating. Burial followed in the Annie E. Young Cemetery, East Shelbiana. Arrangements were under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
