Ralph David Chapman, 45, of Duncanville, Ala., formerly of Pike County, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, in the R.E. Rogers Funeral Home Chapel with Old Regular Baptist ministers officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott Cemetery, Dials Branch, Ransom. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Gregory Hylton
Gregory Hylton, 46, of Ashcamp, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2015, in Clintwood, Va.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, in the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Sanders Family Cemetery, Rockhouse. Arrangements were under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Philman Mitchell
Philman Mitchell, 76, of Hi Hat, died Monday, July 13, 2015, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.
A memorial service will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, in the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home Chapel with Omery Chuck Hall officiating. Arrangements are under direction of Nelson Frazier Funeral Home of Martin.
Amy Richardson
Amy Melissa Richardson, 37, of Millstone died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015.
Funeral services were held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, in the Baker Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements were under direction of Baker Funeral Home - Pound, Va.
Florence Tackett
Florence Tackett, 80, of Long Fork of Virgie, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Arrangements were incomplete at presstime and will be announced by Hall & Jones Funeral Home of Virgie.
“Gordy” Coleman
James Edward “Gordy” Coleman, 78, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at the Hospice Care Center.
He was born in Pikeville, Dec. 30, 1936, the son of the late Willis and Nola Tibbs Coleman.
Mr. Coleman was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Square D Company as a traffic coordinator. He was active in Junior Achievement and the LYSA, was a Kentucky Colonel, and an avid ham radio operator.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara Thompson Coleman; three children, James Jeffrey Coleman (Lee Ellen), Todd Edward Coleman and Emily Ann Coleman; two sisters, Lois Coleman Preston (Woodrow) and Gail Coleman Keene; two stepgrandchildren, Bill and Karen Clevenger; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, in the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in the Lexington Cemetery. Arrangements are under direction of Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3421 Harrodsburg Rd., Lexington.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Allen Wilford, Mike Korb, Bill Clevenger, Michael Mejia, Ricky Walker and Mitchie Preston.

“Mag” Dotson
Mary “Mag”aline Hatfield Dotson, 96, of Ransom, went to her heavenly home, at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, at Pikeville Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 18, 1918, however she celebrated her birthday as Nov. 12. We were blessed that she was born to the late Albert and Elzie Hatfield of Ransom.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis Dotson, whom she loved so very much - they celebrated 68 years together. Her sons, infant son Larry Gilford, Charles”BoJo” Wendell “Wilkie” and Eugene Dotson. Her daughter-in-law, Shirley West Dotson, whom she thought of as her own. And her grandson, Clinton “Little Butch” McCoy.
She is survived by her sons, Burl Dotson (Glenna Mae) and Dwight Dotson (Kelley) of Ransom; her daughters, Helen Dotson, Lola Mae McCoy, Gail Gibbs (Eugene), all of Ransom, and Janet Flo Scott (Larry) (of Whitesburg. Her grandson, Joey Dotson, who made his home with her and she thought of him as her own, her “Joe.” Her daughters-in-laws, Martha Dotson of Ransom and Margaret “Annie” Dotson of Bristol, Tenn. She had 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly and thought of all of them as her own. She is also survived by her sister, Beatrice Hager of Ransom.
She was a member of the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church for 65 years and was the oldest active senior at the Blackberry/McCarr Senior Citizens. She loved going to church and seeing all her church family and worshipping The Lord. She loved her Jesus. She lived everyday of her life to visit her friends and family at the senior center. She looked forward to going each week. She participated until 2014 in the senior games and won several gold medals. She also loved her family and anyone that came to visit her, she made sure that you were fed before you left. She always said, she loved everybody and that was what it was all about, Love, and it showed cause lots of people would call her their second mommy. She will be truly missed by all that knew her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, in the Samaria Primitive Baptist Church with Shawn Dotson, Jeff Dotson, Paul Varney and other Primitive Baptist elders officiating. Burial will follow in the Willie Jake Hager Cemetery, Ransom, with her grandsons, Jerry Dotson, Duane “Archie” Dotson, Chad Dotson, Van Gibbs, Dennis Gibbs, Mitchell Scott and Joey Dotson and her grandson-in-law, Billy Yates, serving as pallbearers. Arrangements are under direction of R.E. Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry.
Visitation is after 3 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the church, with special services at 7.
Thomas Goodman Jr.
Thomas William Goodman Jr., 72, died at 9:33 p.m. Wednesday Aug. 5, 2015 at Pikeville Medical Center.
Mr. Goodman was born in Prestonsburg, Dec. 7, 1942, the son of the late Thomas William Goodman Sr. and Christine Preston Goodman.
Thomas served in the U.S. Army and was a devout booster of the Arkansas Alumni Association. He was an attorney who practiced law for 35 years.
He is survived by three sons, Chase Preston Goodman (Raquel) of Pikeville, Christopher Hudson Goodman of Los Angeles and Thomas William Goodman III of Michigan; and two grandsons; Stone Preston Goodman and Chaseton Thayer Goodman.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the O.T. Hinton Mausoleum, Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville. Entombment will follow.
Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. until time for the service.
Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Tammy Sawyers
Tammy Sawyers, 55, of Ashcamp, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, in the Elkhorn City Baptist Church.
Arrangements are under direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City.
Floyd Stanley
Floyd Fletcher Stanley, 70, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015.
He was born in Pikeville, March 23, 1945.
He was employed by Trane Company in Kentucky for over 40 years.
Floyd was a loving husband to Lottie Stanley, to whom he was married
for 35 years.
Floyd was also an amazing father to his two daughters, Torie Stevens and Kimberly Reid.
He was also the best Pepa and grandfather to all his grandchildren, Sam, Ian, Anna, Lauren and Carter.
Floyd is also survived by his two sisters, Melba Fetty and Lula Feltner; and one brother, Harold Stanley.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, in the Kerr Brothers Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under direction of Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 3412 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington.
Visitation is from 1:30 p.m. Monday until time for the service.
Floyd was a wonderful and caring man, his family and friends will miss him dearly.
John Swiney
John L. Swiney, 78, of Pikeville, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, at his home.
John was born in Pikeville, May 19, 1937, the son of the late Woodrow and Mary Swiney.
John was a true family man, an adoring father, and a treasured individual. He served 20 years of continuous active military duty as a technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the Poor Bottom Freewill Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Fannie Mae Swiney; one sister, Ruby Clevinger; and two brothers, James Harold Swiney and Homer Swiney.
John is survived by his loving daughter, Patricia Lynn Rutherford (Wayne); two caring sons, John Kurby Swiney (Grace) and Rodney Dewayne Swiney (Connie); one sister, Maudie Felicano; one brother, Franklin Swiney; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Christy, Aaron, Jason, Austin, Nicholas and Ashley; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Gibson officiating. Entombment followed in the Isaac Thacker Memorial Mausoleum, Annie E. Young Cemetery, Chloe Road. Arrangements were under direction of Thacker Memorial Funeral Home of Pikeville.
DAV services were conducted by the honor guard, at the mausoleum.
David Adams
David F. Adams, 66, of Raccoon, died Friday, July 31, 2015, at The Veterans Center, Hazard.
He was born in Pike County, Aug. 20, 1948, the son of the late Ferrell Adams and Gladys Charles Adams.
He was a coal miner and a U.S. Army veteran.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Freda Akers.
He is survived by his wife, Glema Slone Adams; two sons, Scott Adams (Selma) and Robert Adams (Mickie), both of Raccoon; and four grandchildren, Lakin Nicole, Skye Lindsley, Leanna Brooke and Cheyanne Dawn.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, in the Community Funeral Home Chapel with Jack Justice and Mathew May officiating. Burial followed in the Adams Cemetery, Dry Branch. Arrangements were under direction of Community Funeral Home of Zebulon.
