Naomi Frances Sanders
Naomi Frances Sanders, 90, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Friendship Manor in Pewee Valley. She was a native of Cave City and worked at Convenient Food Mart. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Unity Circle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Courtney Sanders and by her parents, William and Kate Blair Smith. She is survived by one son, Terry Courtney Sanders, II of LaGrange, by two daughters, Barbara Coyle of Dallas, TX and Brenda Petty of Tampa, FL, one grandson, Mike Coyle and two great grandchildren, Austin and Bailey Coyle. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Monday and goes to funeral time.

Nellie Blye Hulette
Nellie Blye Hulette, 95, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Green County, a member of First Christian Church and was retired from E'town Sportswear. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mattie Vance Brewer. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Augustus Hulette. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Kiger officiating. Burial will be in Bagdad cemetery in Shelby County. Visitation is 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Damon Ralph Williams
Damon Ralph Williams, 84, was ushered by angels into heaven at 2 a.m. on August 31, 2010 at The Montgomery Care Center in Cincinnati surrounded by his loving family. He was a born in Wenona, IL, graduated from Clarkson High School, and the University of Louisville. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe with the 82nd Airborne and was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School for 40+ years at Carlisle Avenue Baptist Church in Louisville, where he was also the Superintendent of Sunday School and later Chairman of the Deacons. He was a member of the Valley Masonic Lodge #511 in Valley Station, the National Association of Federal Retirees, and the KY State Association of Retired Workers. He retired as General Foreman in 1977 from International Harvester, and in 1996 from Hardin County Schools, where he was a school bus driver 19 years. Damon was a dedicated family man who will be remembered for his strong faith, patience, kindness and strength, whose legacy will live on in his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Evelyn Kiper Williams; and his second wife, Rosella Boswell Williams; his parents, Jess and Bessie M. Fulkerson Williams; three brothers, Olen Williams, Jesse C. Williams and Loran Williams and one sister, Aline Nichols. He is survived by two sons, David Larry Williams and his wife Sharon of Findlay, OH and Terry Ray Williams, and his wife Jean of Cincinnati; his best friend, Betty Jones of Elizabethtown; three brothers, Howard Williams of Clarkson, Edward Williams of Sebring, FL and Royce Williams of Boise, ID; six grandchildren, Travis, Michelle, Bryce, Jill, Marie and Max; 7 great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Evelyn, Benjamin, Eleanor, Rebecca, Abby and Luke, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of E'town Christian Academy with Roger McCurry and Ernie Cates officiating. Burial will follow in Leitchfield Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continue after 9 a.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to Hospice of Southwestern Ohio, 7625 Camargo Road, Cincinnati, OH 45243.

Fred F. Penning, Jr.
Fred F. Penning, Jr., 80 of Elizabethtown, died Monday, August 30, 2010. He was a native of Peoria, IL, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Fred was retired from the Army and served in Korea and Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Louise Harris Penning. He is survived by two daughters, Vicki (Darryl) Smith of Louisville and Sharon (Gary) Ison of Lexington; one son, Darrel (Susan) Penning of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Matthew and Adam (Brooke) Mabe and Kristen, Catie and Johnathan Penning; a great grandson, Luke; a sister, Pat Ellison; a brother, Mike Penning and two sisters-in-law, Jeanne Kinney and Pat Harris. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Rineyville cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home. Billy Elton Barnes
Billy Elton Barnes, 78 of Brandenburg, died Monday, August 30, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Jefferson County, served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Bethesda Ministries. He was an Interior Decorator. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Mae Sadler and Marion Russell Barnes, Sr.; two brothers, Marion Russell Barnes, Jr. and Donnie Barnes and a sister, Lillie Mae Love; a grandchild and a great grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Helen Blan Barnes; three sons, Marion (Cheryl) Barnes of Brandenburg, Jerry (Donna) Barnes of Hardinsburg and Victor (Faye) Barnes of Coxs Creek; one daughter, Vivian (Richard) Ledford of Mt. Washington; four brothers, Bobby (Vadis) Barnes of Louisville, Charles Barnes and Rev. Thomas (Louise) Barnes all of Elizabethtown and Ronnie Barnes of Hodgenville; two sisters, Wanda (Leroy) Judd and Wilma (Danny) Smith all of Portland, OR; nine grandchildren and twenty six great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Chapel cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continue after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Flossie Cordelia Goodman
Flossie Cordelia Goodman, 87 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at her residence. She was a native of Hart County and a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. She retired from Bussman in 1988. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Sadie Lee Nunn; her husband of 33 years, Albert Goodman and three brothers. Flossie is survived by one son, Ronald W. Goodman of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Jeanette J. Goodman of Elizabethtown; two grandchildren, Chris (Beth) Goodman of Elizabethtown and Brian (Tina) Goodman of Kansas City, MO; three great grandchildren, Jacob, Courtney and Caitlyn; one sister, Mary Moore of Fishers, IN and one sister-in-law, Dorit Nunn of Elizabethtown. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Langley officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Warm Blessings Soup Kitchen or Hosparous of Central Kentucky.

Sylvia LaVerne Prather
Sylvia LaVerne Prather, 83, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Helmwood Health Care Center. The Hardin County native was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and graduated from Vine Grove High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jeff and Eva Berry Prather and by two sisters, Elsie Leeburg and Juanita Meador. She is survived by 3 nieces, Marilyn Bailey of Kirkland, WA, Gail (John) Ward of Elizabethtown and Mary Ann Leeburg of Sunnyvale, CA, 2 nephews, Ron Leeburg of Campbell, CA and Jim Leeburg of San Jose, CA, a great niece, Macy Ward and several cousins. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with Chaplain Jennifer Gingerich officiating. Burial will be in Buck Grove cemetery in Meade County. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Monday until time for the funeral.

Elizabeth Barnes
Elizabeth "Betty" Barnes, 96, of Bullard, TX, formerly of ELizabethtown, died Wednesday, August 29, 2010 at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, TX. She was a native of Chicago, a beautician and a member of Cecilia Baptist Church. She had a passion for fishing, crafts and playing games and puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Catherine McGilicuty Bredimus, by her husband, Hollis Barnes and by a daughter, Alice Corinne Tharpe. She is survived by one daughter, Florine (Donald E.) Hall of Bullard, TX, one sister, Anne Gard of Lake Barrington, IL, 5 grandchildren, Lori Gandy, Brian Scott Tharpe, Duane Hall, Timothy Hall, Sean Hall and 8 great grandchildren, Nathaniel Hall, Anthony Hall, Ariel Hall, T. J. Hall, Casey Beth Gandy, Courtney Gandy, Eden Nicole Tharpe and Destiny Faith Tharpe. Visitation begins at 12 Noon Friday at Brown Funeral Home with a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.

Gregory Watson
Gregory Keith Watson, 50, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at his residence. The Flint, Michigan native was a member of Stephensburg United Methodist Church and Stephensburg Masonic Lodge #212. He worked as an Architectural Designer for Dant Clayton in Louisville for eight years. He was preceded in death by his mother Martha Hamilton Watson. He is survived by his wife, Donna Elmore Watson, his father, William Watson of Columbia, one son, Matthew (Amanda) Douthitt of Hardinsburg, two daughters, Rebecca (Jeremy) Puckett of Elizabethtown and Stephanie Watson and Joe Skidmore of Big Clifty, one brother, Jeff Watson of Elizabethtown, one sister, Marcie (Steve) Siebel of Cincinnati, Ohio, and 3 grandchildren, Tinley and Blaine Puckett and Landon Baldwin. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Don Sexton officiating. Burial will be in White Mills cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. Saturday. Expressions of sympathy may go to Stephensburg United Methodist Church Building Fund in memory of Greg Watson.
