Amy Gladys Zehm
Amy Gladys Zehm, 85 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, September 3, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Trempeleau County, WI and a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, where she was an Organist. She was an avid musician and a shape note singer. She danced yearly at the KY Summer Dance School and was a professional clown with Clowns of America. She was a retired Special Education Teacher for Hardin County Schools. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Zehm; her parents, Alfonso and Katherine Heath and four brothers, Eugene Heath, Kenneth Heath, Harley Heath and Lloyd Heath. She is survived by two daughters, Tracy (Scott) Zimmerman of Jacksonville, FL and Carla Joy of Louisville and three grandchildren, Scott Zimmerman II, Brandi Zimmerman and Colin Zimmerman. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church with Dr. Monti Gleitz officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home and continue after 9 a.m. Monday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund.
Lillian Mae Foster
Lillian Mae Foster, 84, of Mt. Washington, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Suburban Hospital in Louisville. The Hardin County native was a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert U. Foster, by her parents, Virgil W. and Cora Smith Cowley, by 5 brothers, Ivan, Walter, Woodrow, VIrgil and Russell Cowley and by two sisters, Vivian Meyers and Ina Chesser. She is survived by two sons, Gary (Lou) Foster of Mt. Washington and Darryl (Donna) Foster of Elizabethtown, by two sisters, Beulah Sellers of Elizabethtown and Lila Rountree of Potomac Falls, VA, by six grandchildren, Vickie Foster, David Foster, Julie Wheeler, Kelly Miller, Adam Foster and Blake Foster and 3 great grandchildren, Dawson, Corbin and Emerson Foster. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Howard Pryor officiating. Burial will be in Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Shirley Arlyne Harris
Shirley Arlyne Harris, 57, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, September 10, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Willmar, MN, a member of Holy Apostles Church and was a home health provider. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Delores Nelson Gatewood, by a brother, Douglas Gatewood and a sister, Dianne Bonnema. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Michael Harris; four sons, Joe (Kelli) Harris of Leitchfield, Brent (Kathy) Harris of Sweeden, Shawn Foley and Shane Harris both of Elizabethtown; five daughters, Stephanie (Kendall) Hester of Cecilia, Stacy (Jay) Wiedewitsch of Milaca, MN, Dana Harris and Mindy Harris both of Leitchfield and Sarah (Nathan) Smith of Clarkson; two brothers, James Gatewood of Princeton, MN and Michael Gatewood of Lake Lillian, MN; four sisters, Kathleen Anderson and Lynn Norstedt both of New London, MN, Lori Carlson of Maynard, MN, Jean Fleming of Cecilia; 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Kent Litchfield officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funerall Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
Gordon Buckley Hale
Gordon Hale, 78, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Milwaukee, WI and Waukegan, IL and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a retired Graphic Designer with Outward Marine Corp. He was preceded in death by his parents, I. D. and Anna Gorenson Hale and a sister, Marie Lynn Edwards. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diane Bate Hale; one son, Toby (Michelle) Hale of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Stacy (Robert) Andersen of Rineyville and Christine (John) Lane of Edwards Air Force Base, CA; two sisters, Geraldine Schlecht of Madison, WI and Arlene Brachman of Milwaukee, WI; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Tim and Kim Maggard officiating. Burial will follow in KY Veterans cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Sandra Fletcher Collier Estes
Sandra Fletcher Collier Estes, 63 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, September 11, 2010 at home after a brief illness surrounded by her family. She was a native of Adair County and a member of Glendale Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Randel Collier, her father, James E. Fletcher and a brother, Bobby Fletcher. She is survived by her husband, Doug Estes; four children, Angela (Richard Kromer) Collier of Louisville, Melissa Collier and Kevin (Michelle) Estes all of Elizabethtown and Kristin Estes of Louisville; her mother, Dorothy Fletcher of Columbia; two brothers, Billy (Anita) Fletcher and Charles (Claudette) Fletcher all of Columbia; one sister-in-law, Loretta Fletcher of Columbia; eight grandchildren, Jeff R. Manning, Levi Cecil, Katie, Bryce, Sean and Kameron Estes and Callie and Walton Kromer and five nieces and nephews, Renae, Bridget, Kim, Steven and Kevin. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Christian Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Robert Luther Hoggard
Robert L. "Bob" Hoggard, 72, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a faithful member of Severns Valley Baptist Church, an educator and basketball coach for 37 years in Powell County, Christian County, Bowling Green, Oldham County, Graves County and Fort Knox and was a member of KHSAA Hall of Fame. He was also an Army veteran. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mardee Hobgood Hoggard, one son, Kelly (Teresa) Hoggard of Louisville, one daughter, Sheri Faulkner (Jim) of Williamstown, one sister, Elizabeth Tori of Radcliff and four grandchildren, Steven Faulkner, Matthew Faulkner, Jordan Hoggard and Jackson Hoggard. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Severns Valley Baptist Church. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Curtis Wood Lewis
Curtis Wood Lewis, 74 of Elizabethtown, died Monday, October 26, 2009 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Larue County and was a pattern maker for KY Wood Floors. He designed and cut the pattern for the flooring in the Oval Office. He was a deer hunter and outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Annie Madden Lewis; three brothers, Jesse Lee Lewis, James Alford Lewis and Arvil Lewis and a half sister, Clarie Chaudoins. He is survived by his wife, Doris Eiler Lewis; one brother, Hubert (Doris) Lewis of Magnolia; one sister, Flossie Dillon of Magnolia; a half sister, Rose Gentry of Greensburg; a sister in law, Elizabeth Thompson of Louisville and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ginger Renae Beard
Ginger Renae Beard, 40 of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Biloxi, MS and attended Round Top Baptist Church. She worked at Hardin Memorial Hospital for 18 years. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Thelbert and Myrtle Jessee and Davis Beard all of Columbia. She is survived by her mother, Lottie Beard of Elizabethtown; her father and step mother, Larry and Frances Beard of Elizabethtown; one brother, Rusty (Laura) Beard of Lawrenceburg; one sister, Gretchen (Trevor) Knight of Elizabethtown; one step sister, Kim (Todd) Hickey of Greenville, NC; her grandmother, Emma (Rex) Childress of Cave City and her nieces and nephews, Stuart Knight of Elizabethtown, Dakota Beard of Lawrenceburg and Shelby and Jacob Hickey of Greenville, NC. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Davis and Rev. Jerry Tooley officiating. Burial will follow in Round Top cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ella Mae Bottoms
Ella Mae Bottoms, 92, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, June 19, 2009 at Hardin Memorial Hospital She was a native of Knivley, KY, a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and was a life member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. L. R. Bottoms, her parents Mitt and Minnie Mae Dishon Quinn, a son, Charles Bottoms and 2 daughters, Maxine Phillips and Carlyon Lee. She is survived by 4 sons, Clifford Bottoms and wife Marilyn and Clellon Bottoms and wife Dixie all of Upland, IN, Morris Bottoms of Elizabethtown, and Wilbur Bottoms and wife B. J. of Hopkinsville, 1 daughter, Janet Brown and husband Chris of Elizabethtown, 16 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Dixon cemetery in Grand Rivers, KY at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Visitation is 1:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
