Rosie Lee Harned
Rosie Lee Harned, 96 passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lewis E. Harned. She is survived by three sons, Richard L. (Patricia) Harned, Ernest D. (Janice) Harned and Walter L. (Patrick Morgan) Harned; a sister, Lucille (Robert) Grimes; eight grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Stephensburg United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home. The family and friends of Rosie would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Richwood Nursing Home of LaGrange, KY for their great care and love for her during her stay for the past six years. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Alzheimers Association.
Anna Leona Belt
Anna Leona Belt, 90 of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at North Hardin Health and Rehab. Center in Radcliff. She was a native of New Haven and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold S. Belt, Sr. She is survived by two sons, Harold S. (Peggy) Belt, Jr. of Owensboro and James G. (JoAnn) Belt of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Phyllis Ann (Jerry) Patterson of Anacortez, WA; six grandchildren, Mark, Jamie, Kevin, Kelly, Collin and Katie Belt and three great grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Jamie Belt officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Fred E. Schramm
Fred E. Schramm, 88 of Ridge, NY, died Monday, June 21, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Queens County, NY and served in the Army Air Force during WWII. He was a retired Teamster and retired from Petro Oil Company and Sid Harvey. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and great grandfather and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Schramm. He is survived by his children, Bob Schramm of Elizabethtown and Carol Riecke of Bay Shore, NY; grandsons, Brian Schramm and Keith Riecke; great grandchildren, Darian and Aeryn Schramm and his companion, Dorothy Callaghan. Burial will be in Calverton National cemetery in Calverton, NY. Brown Funeral Home is incharge of local arrangements.
J. C. Booth
J. C. Booth, 85 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, June 25, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Muhlenburg County, was a WWII Navy Veteran and a member of East Rhudes Creek Baptist Church. He retired in 1987 from Reynolds Metal in Louisville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kathryn Booth; his parents, Ceaphus and Elizabeth Johnson Booth; two sons, Steven Alan Booth and Gary Joe Ryan and one daughter, Pamela Diane Reading. He is survived by two daughters, Marty (Hobert) Baker and Patty Howard all of Elizabethtown; one sister, Anna Dean Back of Rineyville; 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchilden, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion cemetery with Rev. Dewey Keys officiating. Brown Funeral Home is incharge of arrangements.
Claudie Mae Pellman
Claudie Mae Pellman, 82, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, June 24, 2010, at Bluegrass Assisted Living. She was a native of Hardin County and a member of Holy Apostles Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Raymond Pellman; her parents, Horace Leslie and Myra Jessamine Gunning Bailey; one brother, Horace Leslie Bailey Jr.; and two sisters, Lois Bernice Southerland and Noka Swan Sondergard. She is survived by one son, Charles Michael Pellman of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Fonda Gail Dever of Elizabethtown; two brothers, James A. Bailey of Glendale and Melvin H. Bailey of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Michael Pellman, Carla Michelle Craft, Jason Matthew Dever, and Lesley Gail McConn; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Sierra Craft, Dillon Ray McConn, and Jessamine Kay Deaver. The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home, with Rev. Kent Litchfield officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday from 3-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to Hosparus.
Edna Mary DeMott
Edna Scofield De Mott, 98, of Fanwood, NJ, formerly of Elizabethtown, died Monday, February 1, 2010 at Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains, NJ. A native of Rochester, NH, she lived in Elizabeth, NJ and then Chatham, NJ before moving to Elizabethtown, KY where she lived for over 35 years before moving back to New Jersey three years ago residing at The Chelsea of Fanwood. While living in Elizabethtown, Mrs. De Mott was an active member of the Memorial United Methodist Church and The United Methodist Women serving in various leadership positions. She was also a member of the Hardin Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered in its Gift Shop for over 35 years and received a 23,000 hour service pin. She was a charter member of the Elizabethtown Garden Club, a former member of Town and Country Homemakers, and the Elizabethtown Woman's club. She was a retired legal secretary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer G. De Mott, two brothers, William A. Scofield and Elmer A. Scofield and a sister Adeline Scofield Fritz. She is survived by two daughters, Gloria J. Brodersen and her husband, Gary, of Fanwood, NJ and Norma J. Doyle and her husband, Michael of Walden, NY; three grandchildren, Amy Brodersen, Bonnie Doyle Ham and Daniel Doyle, and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Molly Doyle. The funeral will be at Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Ave., Fanwood, NJ on Friday. Private Interment will be at Hardin Memorial Park in Elizabethtown. Glenn Hearld Howell
Glenn Hearld Howell, 87, of Clarkson, KY, died Sunday Jan. 31, 2010. He was a native of Lee County, and served in the army during WWII. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F and AM at Beattyville and was a retired commercial building inspector with the state of Kentucky. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Ruby Scholler Howell; and one grandson, Jay Abbott. He is survived in death by his wife Betty Elkins Howell of Clarkson; one daughter, Linda Smith of Elizabethtown; two grandsons, Todd (Lesley) Abbott of Ashland, KY and Charles (Sherry) Smith of Valparaiso, FL; three great grandchildren, Tyler, Tristian, and Audrey. The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Woodrow Stewart
Woodrow Wilson Stewart, 90, of ELizabethtown, died Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home. He was a native of Bowling Green, a WWII Navy veteran and a member of Larue County Church of Christ. He was an electrician, retired from civil service and worked for Dow Corning before retiring in 1990. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington Stewart and Florence Mae Coombs Stewart. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Willie "Zee" Price Stewart, one son, David (Kathy) Stewart of Brentwood, TN, two daughters, Renae (David) Harrison of Hodgenville and Linda (Jeff) Noel of Rineyville, one brother, James (Ruth) Stewart of Bowling Green, six grandchildren, Nita Harrison Hill, Jennifer Harrison Sturgeon, Jonathan Harrison, Marie Noel, Kennedy Stewart and Price Stewart. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Noel officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Kentucky Veterans cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may go to Feeding America, Kentucky Heartland or Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
Russell "Jack" Hargis
Russell "Jack" Hargis 79 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at North Hardin Health and Rehab. in Radcliff. He was a native of Bartlesville, OK and a member of Northside Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He served during WWII, Korea and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the Serenity Club and the Safe Harbour Club. He was the retired warehouse manager at the PX at Ft. Knox and was a Farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Arnold and Lucille Hayden Hargis; a daughter, Donna Hargis Dearth; a grandson, Jamie Dearth; two sisters, Bertha Esarey and Ruby Hargis and two brothers, Earl Hargis and James Arnold Hargis, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Mary Shippee Hargis; two sons, Steve (Debbie) Hargis of Henderson and Thomas (Dana) Hargis of Lawrenceburg; three daughters, Jennifer Gunzburg and Kathy Barnes both of Elizabethtown and Jackie (Bill) Claycomb of Webster; one brother, W. D. (Juanita) Hargis of Bradfordsville; one sister, Theola Tomer of Maceo; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Brand officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Safe Harbour Club, the Serenity Club or to Hosparus.
Nettie Lena Miller
Nettie Lena Miller, 94 of Eastview, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Eastview and attended Fairfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Miller; her parents, Jessie and Bessie Peters Elliott and one son, Adrian Miller. She is survived by three daughters, Mildred (Anthony) Pierce of Elizabethtown, Violet (Bobby) Johnson of Eastview and Agnes (Leroy) Wooldridge of New Albany; five sons, Freddie (Peggy) Miller of Elizabethtown, Ronald (Minnie) Miller, Paul (Bonnie) Miller and Darrell (Laura) Miller all of Eastview and Sheridan Miller of White Mills; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Fairfield Baptist Church with Bro. Freddie Vertrees officiating. Burial will follow in Fairfield cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Friday and continue after 9 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home.
