Marjorie Linberg Murphy
Marjorie Linberg Murphy, 82 of Hudson, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Fredericksburg, VA and was a caregiver for the elderly. She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Murphy and her parents, George B. and Deany Sale. She is survived by her step daughter-in-law, Patricia Murphy of Hudson; six step grandchildren, Warren Ellinger, Bryan Murphy, Thomas Murphy, John Murphy, James Murphy and Patrick Murphy; 12 step great grandchildren and 3 step great great grandchildren and three nieces, Alleen Peck of Bowling Green, VA, Betty Atwell of Stanley, NC and Gloria Henderson of Palm Beach, FL. The funeral was held Saturday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in Round Oak cemetery in Fredericksburg, VA.
Tara Susan Cooper
Tara Susan Cooper, 35, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, June 10, 2010, at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. She was a native of Hardin County and a member of St. James Catholic Church. She was the City Treasurer for the City of Elizabethtown and served on the boards and volunteered for numerous community organizations. She was preceded in death by her mother, Brenda Sue Pirtle Cooper. She is survived by her father, Ben Cooper of Elizabethtown, one brother, Josh Cooper of Elizabethtown, a God daughter, Lindsey Parrett and several Aunts, Uncles and cousins. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Stanley Osborne officiating. Burial will be in St. James cemetery. Visitation is 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with a prayer vigil at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may go to the Brenda Cooper Memorial Fund or Springhaven Domestic Violence Shelter.
John "Jack" Taylor
John "Jack" Taylor, 73, of Rineyville, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Washington County, a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, a farmer, and a member of the Knights of Columbus council in Vine Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents; Gene and Evelyn Clements Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 46 years Barbara Bewley Taylor of Rineyville; one son, John Taylor of Rineyville; two daughters, Julie (Bill) Reynolds of Kempner, TX and Susie (Danny) Sherrard of Elizabethtown; three brothers, Ed (Ann) Taylor, Tony Taylor, and Paul (Diane) Taylor all of Rineyville; two sisters, Joan (Floyd) Palmer of Reno, NV and Mary (Ralph) Stanley of Shepherdsville; six grandchildren, Justin (Tiffany) King, Maggie and Molly Sherrard, Jonathon, Jeremy, and Savannah Taylor; one great-granddaughter, Tessa King. The funeral is Friday at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Lincoln officiating. Burial to follow in St. John cemetery. Visitation is Thursday from 4:30-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home. A prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Thelma Louise Wright
Thelma Louise Wright, 89 of Vine Grove, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Kensington Manor in Elizabethtown. She was a native of Louisville and a member of Stithton Baptist Church. She was a foster parent for 27 years. She fostered 157 foster children. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Wilson Wright , her parents, Carl and Bessie Mae Warden Braun and a grandson, William Todd Wright. She is survived by two sons, Robert Dale Wright of Elizabethtown and Buddy Wright of Clermont; five daughters, Cammie Wright of Elizabethtown, Patricia Yarbrough of Arizona, Diana Burnett of Radcliff, Linda Fizer of Vine Grove and Alice Brewer of Florida and 24 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in Vine Hill cemetery in Clermont. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Brittany Lee Ringenary
Brittany Ringenary, 21, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was a native of Reading, PA and was a shift manager at Arby's. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert G. Ringenary, Sr., Mary A. Ringenary and Arthur Anderson, Sr. She is survived by a son, Aidan Linton of Elizabethtown; her parents, David and Robin Anderson Ringenary of Elizabethtown; one sister, Jessica Ringenary of Elizabethtown; her grandmother, Elaine Anderson of West Warwick, RI; her great grandfather, Kenneth Phillips of Warwick, RI. The funeral will be Sunday at 4 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Stanley Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in St. James cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may go to the Scholarship Fund for Aiden Caleb Linton, Brittany's son, at First Citizens Bank.
Wendy Sue Nall
Wendy Sue Nall, 38, of New Haven, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at University of Louisville Hospital. She was a resident of Nelson County and a Certified Nursing Assistant at Loretto Mother House for one year. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and was an avid sports fam. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, Bingo, being a Mom and Mimi and spending time with nieces and nephews and spoiling them. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Norine Nall 3/22/2010 and by a daughter, Valerie Shay Walters. She is survived by her father, W. D. Nall of Boston, one daughter, Samantha Brothers of New Haven, two brothers, William (Debbie) Nall of Coxs Creek and Roy (Christa) Nall of Boston, two sisters, Pam (Greg) Dockery of Boston and Lisa (Jay) Luperchio of Sunapee, NH, a granddaughter, Audrina Linton of New Haven and her significant other, Monty Walters of Rineyville. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Bro. Bruce Nichols officiating. Burial will be in St. John cemetery. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Saturday and after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Roy Keith Gatlin
Roy Keith Gatlin, 78, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at his home surrounded by family. He was a native of Connersville, IN and was an avid member of the National Muzzle Loading Association (NMLA) who published several of his muzzle loading articles. He was also a member of the American Legion and Meade County Lions CLub. He was a Kentucky Colonel, and coached the E'town Dolphins for one year (1977). He graduated from Ball State University with a Masters in Systems Engineering and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Gatlin(Gertrude), mother Ethel Kelly (Harold), and Brother, Earl Andrew Gatlin. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Donna Gatlin, his children; Bethany Rosen (Jeff), Howard Gatlin (Pam) and Becky Gatlin Peralta (Steve) his grandchildren; Andrew Walker (JoDonna), Wesley Walker, Alyssa Gatlin and Aaron Gatlin, a great grandchild; Andrew Walker, Jr., a sister; Mary Ann Brattain, and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at the Gatlin farm on Saturday, December 26, 2009 starting at 1 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed with donations to Hosparus (www.hosparus.com) or the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) in lieu of flowers.
Paul Douglas Spaulding
Paul Douglas Spaulding, 35, of Elizabethan, died Friday, December 18, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Nuenberg, Germany, worked at Dow Corning and formerly worked at Kroger. He is survived by his parents Samuel E. and Ute Schindler Spaulding, by a sister Laura Ann (Anthony) Gomez of Salinas, CA, 2 nieces, Caitlyn and Alicia and a nephew, Hunter. There will be a memorial service at 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Hopper officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may go to Helping Hand.
Phyllis Ann Casteel
Phyllis Ann Casteel, 69 of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at her home. She was a native of Larue County and a member of Heaven Bound Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Randy Casteel and Robert Dale Casteel; a grandson, Aleija Bleu McMillen; her parents, Otis and Bernice Inez Tharp Burd and a brother, Gerald Burd. She is survived by her husband, Roy Casteel of Elizabethtown; two sons, Johnnie (Kathy) Casteel and Bobby Joe (Melissa) Casteel all of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Gail (Ricky) Benningfield of Hodgenville and Janet Casteel of Elizabethtown; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Gary Sharpe officiating. Burial will follow in Brown cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
