Estelle Mae Routt
Estelle Mae Routt, 95 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at her home. She was a native of Larue County, a member of First Baptist Church in Sonora and retired from Bussman's after more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Routt; her parents, Leslie and Alvia Gaddie Edwards; one brother and three sisters. She is survived by one son, Ronnie (Brenda) Routt of Lexington; one daughter, Ann Floyd of Leitchfield and two grandchildren, Stacy Miller of Leitchfield and Kalen (Blake) Paxton of Amelia Island, FL. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Roger McCurry officiating. Burial will follow in Sonora cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:30 to 8 p.m. and continue after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Eugene Holt Bailey
Eugene Holt Bailey passed away on December 22, 2009 at his home in Louisville, KY at the age of 56. He was born on June 5, 1953 in Scotland County, NC the only son of the late Eugene A. Bailey Jr. and Mollie Coward Bailey. Always known as Gene or Geno, he was a graduate of Richmond Senior High School and served in the US Army for twelve years. For the past twenty years he was employed by AGC Automotive Americas, Elizabethtown, KY. Gene is survived by his wife, Vickie, of the home, a daughter, Anna D. Bailey of Pompano Beach, FL, a son, Charles "Chuck" Bailey (Amy) of Elizabethtown, a stepson, Charlie King and wife Sandy of Louisville, three grandchildren, Alyssa, Charlie and Kylee King of Louisville, one sister, Charleen B. Morrow and husband Larry, and one nephew, Lee Morrow all of Birmingham, AL. Gene was passionate about his motorcycles and had his first at the age of sixteen. His latest ride was his Indian Scout. He was a member of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club, Elizabethtown, KY Chapter. Geno had a huge heart, was loved and respected and his memory will be cherished forever. It was Gene's wish to be cremated and a brief memorial service will be held at 2 p.m.on Monday, December 28, 2009 at Brown Funeral Home, Elizabethtown, KY with visitation following until 4:00 p.m. Interment will be in Rockingham, NC at a time to be announced later. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to the Norton Healthcare Foundation to benefit The Norton Cancer Institute, in memory of Gene "Geno" Bailey, 234 E. Gray Street, Suite 410, Louisville, KY 40202.
Murray Raymer
Murray Raymer 83, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday January 10, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Edmonson County, a Navy Veteran, and a member of South Jefferson Baptist Church of Valley Station. He is retired from American Synthetic Rubber Company and Jefferson County Board of Education. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugan and Cora Blanton Raymer and a brother Vernon Raymer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Betty Raymer; a son Terry Ray (Jill) Raymer of Louisville; three daughters, Kathy Raymer and her fiance Tim Morris of Elizabethtown, Laura (Martin) Soria of Angleton, Texas, and Rebecca Simpson of Mitchell, IN; one sister Judy Stewart of Edmonson County; twelve grandchildren, Tiffany, Justin, Danny, Greg, Jason, Amy, Lyndsey, Stephanie, Jessica, Ariane, Viviane, and Rachel; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a lifelong friend Fred White and a dear friend Doug. The funeral will be Wednesday at 6:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home with Fred White officiating. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the USO.
Ralph E. Baskett
Ralph E. Baskett, 84 of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville. He was a native of Jefferson County, served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Morrison Masonic Lodge and the Kosair Shrine Temple. He was the former owner of Cave Oil Company, which is now Shell He was the Hardin County Sheriff for 8 years and the Circuit Court Clerk for 18 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Hilton Baskett; his parents, Talton Lee and Maude Elizabeth Baskett. He is survived by a son and his wife, Gene and Barbara Baskett of Eastview; one brother, T. L. Baskett of Fisherville; one sister, Helen Hester of Jeffersontown, KY; three grandchildren, David, Lisa and Morgan and a great grandchild, Bryce. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Memorial United Methodist Church with Dr. Rachel Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and continue after 9 a.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home. There will be a Masonic Service Thursday
Edith Coogle Peters Weatherholt
Edith Coogle Peters Weatherholt, 78 of Elizabethtown, died Monday, January 11, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. A native of Eastview in Hardin County, she was a homemaker and secretary for Peters Construction Company for over 40 years. She was a member of Open Valley Baptist Church, who on various occations professed a knowledge of heavenly places to come. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Edward Peters and her husband, Charles Weatherholt; her parents, Naith and Josie Smothers Coogle; brothers, Oliver, Hubert, Herman, Louis, Robert O. and Abe Coogle and sisters, Bertha Helm and Ollie Wilkerson. Survivors include a sister, Ardith Cates of Ohio; a brother, Pete Coogle of Cecilia; children, Paddy L. Gillispie, Danney R. (Bobbi) Peters and Kathy S. (James) Newton all of Elizabethtown and Sammey D. (Gerri) Peters and Ruby J. Goodman of Cecilia; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three step children, Darlene, Dewayne and Mary Kay. The funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Open Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Lennie Welcher and Rev. Malcolm Doyle officiating. Burial will follow in Open Valley cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continue after 9 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home.
Winford Raymond Prindle
Winford Raymond "W.R." Prindle, 80 of Radcliff, died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville. He was a native of Daviess County and a member of Rineyville Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post #113 and served in the National Guard for 14 years. He retired from Modern Welding after 40 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Walter and Ella Tucker Prindle; one step daughter, Carol Johnson and two sisters, Ovada Nalley and Lawanda Bruner. he is survived by three sons, James (Regina) Prindle and Darrin Prindle all of Elizabethtown and Douglas (Tammy) Prindle of Radcliff; one sister, Shirley Mayes of Hartford; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Cremation was chosen. A Memorial service will be held at a later date.
William Henry Wheeler
William Henry Wheeler, 69, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday May 4, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Hardin County, a painter, and a minister at Victory Temple. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Nelson and Elizabeth Dee Oiler Wheeler; and one son, William Elijah "Eli" Wheeler. He is survived by his wife Karon Burns Wheeler of Elizabethtown; eight children, Thomas, Michael, David, Stacey, Sandra, Tracy, Kelly, and Cindy; and two sisters, Helen and Lois. The funeral is Friday at 11a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Odell Beauchamp officiating. Burial to follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Clyde Verne Arnold
Clyde Verne Arnold, 85 of Cecilia, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Detroit, MI, served in the Navy during WWII, was an iron worker and worked in the construction business. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mallie "Jeanne" Arnold; his parents, Clyde Newton and Mary Tanner Arnold and a brother, Walter Arnold. He is survived by one son, Kirk Arnold of Florence; three daughters, Karen (Richard) McGraw of Elkins, WV, Kay (Roger) Roebuck of Charlotte, NC and Kathy (Galen) Slade of Burlington, KY; one sister, Gwendolyn Faye (Walter) Kirkpatrick of Erlanger; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Dewey Keys officiating. Burial will follow in First Baptist Church cemetery in Eastview. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
