Stoy Everett Miller
Stoy Everett Miller, 90 of Eastview, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at St. Catherine Regional Hospital in Charlestown, IN. He was a native of Hart County, a retired truck driver and a member of White Mills Baptist Church for 69 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Hattie Booker Miller and four sisters, Minnie Alt, Ollie Hatfield, Icie Hawkins and Louise Horn. He is survived his wife of 65 years, Ida Alberta Priddy Miller; two sons and their wives, Larry and Joyce Miller of Elizabethtown and Jackie and Patty Miller of Louisville; one sister, Mary Hinton of Elizabethtown; four grandchildren, Bart (Erika) Miller of Houston, TX, Amanda Miller of San Antonio, TX, Jon Miller of Chicago and Daniel Miller of Tallassee, FL and two great grandchildren, Jacob Joshua Miller and Zachary Miller. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Underhill officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Carrell Richard Vowels
Carrell Richard Vowels, 75 of Cecilia, died Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Hardin County, served in the U.S. Marines and was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. He was a retired tank mechanic supervisor at Ft. Knox. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Vowels and his father and step mother, Herman and Nancy Vowels. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane Lewis Vowels; three sons and their wives, Tim and Teresa Vowels of Upton and David and Pam Vowels and Jamie and Jennifer Vowels all of Cecilia and six grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Rev. Stanley Osborne officiating. Burial will follow in KY Veterans cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 ot 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
Wilma Jacobs
Wilma Jacobs, 89, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Jersey City, NJ and formerly worked for RCA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Jacobs, her parents, Mohamed Ben Ali and Edith Rosario Ben Ali, two brothers, Omar Ben Ail and Arbou Ben Ali and by a sister Shahazan LaGrante. She is survived by a daughter, Karen Jacobs-White (Ron) of Elizabethtown, one sister, Edith Thomas of Georgia, 3 grandchildren, Adrienne Graham, Paul Ahjuder and Allison Ahjuder and two great grandchildren, Luke Graham and Layla Graham. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home with Chaplain Peggy French officiating. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Duard Robert Terry
Duard Robert Terry, 87, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, January 7, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was a native of Longmont, CO, a WWII Army veteran and was retired from civil service after 33 years. He was a member of First Assembly of God, a former member of the American Legion in Waterloo, Iowa and was a member of the protective order of Elks. He was preceded in death by his father, James William and Sarah Floyd Terry, by four brothers, Everett Terry, Ray Terry, Guthrie Terry and Pat Terry and by three sisters, Ruby Townsend, Nora Cook and Clara Langley. He is survived by his wife Edna Lobb Terry, one sister, Elna Wigant of Louisville, a step-son, Douglas Kessinger of Elizabethtown, a step-daughter, Gloria Humphrey of Buffalo, 3 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Darwin Bostwick officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mary Leona Burke
Mary Leona Burke died December 31, 2009 at Helmwood Nursing Home after a short illness. She was born on May 24, 1911 to Kirby and Grace (Ailes) Peden in Lyndon, KY. She was a life long member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. She married
"her Bill", William Burke, and spent twenty years as a military wife. Bill died in 1951. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ida Grace Stewart and a brother, Kennard Peden. She is survived by her sister and best friend, Ruth Maffet and her beloved nephew, Kenny of Elizabethtown and two nieces, Jocile Pillow of Russellville and Janet Watts of Charlestown, Indiana and several great nieces and nephews.. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral Home with Roger McCurry and Rev. Bill Ray officiating. Burial will be in Elizabethtown City cemetery. Visitation is 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hosparus of Central Kentucky.
Robert Dean Kelly
Robert Dean "Pop" Kelly, 75, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, January 1, 2010. He was a native of Corbin, a member of Highview Baptist Church and retired from General Electric. He was a 30 year Navy veteran and was formerly recruiting officer in Elizabethtown. He was a member of American Legion Post #113, VFW Post #10281 in Radcliff and Fern Creek Masonic Lodge #955 F&AM.; He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen, his parents Charles and Dessye Parker Kelly and by a brother, William C. Kelly. He is survived by a sister-in-law and caregiver, Myrtle Ross of Elizabethtown, by a sister, Wilma Jean Pate of Louisville, by a sister-in-law, Louise McAllister of Mt. Washington and by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at Noon Monday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Haggard officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Memory Gardens in Mt. Washington. Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
James Morgan Bechanan
James M. "Beck" Bechanan, 74, of Elizabethtown passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, surrounded by his family. Jim was born May 10, 1935, in Elizabethtown. He graduated from Rineyville High School in 1953 and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from Crucible Magnetics after 30 years of employment and also ran a family farm. He was a member of Younger’s Creek Baptist Church for 64 years. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Lucien and Ruby Bechanan as well as brothers Elbert, Paul and William Bechanan. He was the devoted husband of 55 years to Anna S. Bennett Bechanan; and loving father to his children, daughter, Patti Ahting and her husband, Gerhard of West Chester, OH; and son, Doug Bechanan and his wife, Cassinda, of Carlisle, KY. He was the proud grandfather to Zachary and Chelsea Ahting, and Logan and Fielden Bechanan. Also surviving are his sister Imo Jane (James) Fox of Mackville, KY; and brother-in-laws James Bennett and William Bennett of Elizabethtown, whom he thought of as brothers. Several nieces and nephews, and a lifetime of friends. The funeral will be Thursday at 1:30 pm at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown City cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 pm and will continue after 10:00 am on Thursday at the funeral home.
Ina Vivian Cain
Ina Vivian Morgan Kerfoot Cain, 78 of Vine Grove, died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at North Hardin Health and Rehab. in Radcliff. Mrs. Cain was a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Vine Grove where she was a Sunday School Teacher and a leader of the Women on Missions. She was a homemaker, caregiver, grandmother and an avid cook. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Waverley Edwin Kerfoot and Clarence Wayne Cain; her parents, Abraham and Emma Mae Daugherty Morgan and two brothers, Ralph Morgan and Donnie Morgan. She is survived by a daughter, Anna Lou (Keith) Tucker of Cecilia; a son, Royce (Stacey) Kerfoot of Cecilia; one grandson, Barnett Kane Kerfoot of Cecilia; three brothers, Marion (Ernestine) Morgan of Raytown, MO, Bernard (Marcella) Morgan of Elizabethtown and Louie (Jeanette) Morgan of Rineyville; five sisters, Juanita (J.D.) Morris of Caneyville, Marjorie (Meade) Sharp of Millerstown, Jane (Bernie) Lucas and Sue (Wayne) Hayden all of Rineyville and Erma Thompson of Radcliff and a sister-in-law, Jane Morgan of Cecilia. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Christian Burton and Rev. Douglas Boyles officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ball Cemetry. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
