Ethleen Van Meter
Ethleen Van Meter, 77, of East View passed away Monday, July 12, 2010, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was a native of Hardin County and 68 year member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church. She served there faithfully as a charter member of the United Methodist Women and as a Sunday School teacher. She worked as a teacher and an office manager, retiring from Hardin County Schools with over 30 years of service, of which 24 years were at Western Elementary School in East View. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Glenn E. Van Meter, Jr., a daughter, Deborah, and her parents, Ray and Lena Johnson. She is survived by two sons, Greg (Cheryl) Van Meter and Kent Van Meter of East View, a daughter, Lisa (Stephen) Stocksdale of Elizabethtown; 8 grandchildren, Phillip (Katie) Druen, Kelly (Brandon) Gaskins, Jordan Van Meter, Austin and Abby Van Meter, and Logan, Patrick, and Blake Schirmer; 4 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Josephine (Thomas) Powell, Lucille Brashear, and one brother, Raymond (Jeannette) Johnson; a special friend and sister-in-law, Venice Eads; and a special caregiver, Janet Smith. The funeral is at 1:00 pm Thursday at Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in East View with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation is from 1:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church in her name.
Robert "Bobby" Gray
Robert L. "Bobby" Gray, 64 of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at his home. He was a native of Marion County and was a 1983 graduate of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was the Pastor of Rockbridge Baptist Church in Willisburg for 4 years. He started churches in Ohio, Kansas, Kentucky and locally he started Cardinal Creek Baptist Church. He served as Chaplain at Hardin Memorial Hospital for several years. He formerly served as President and Board Member of the Oakwood Facility in Somerset and as the Christian Coordinator for the Glendale Childrens Home. He was a man of great integrity who loved the Lord, his family and friends. He was an adoring father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, they lovingly referred to him as Poppy. He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Robert Gray; his father, Bobbie Gray and his father-in-law, John Hornback. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Deanna "Dee" Hornback Gray; one son, Christian (Jennifer) Gray of Elizabethtown; his mother, Christine Marksbury Gray of Elizabethtown; one brother, Frank (Debbie) Gray of Louisville; two sisters, Beverly (James) Moore of Ft. Pierce, FL and Phyllis (Tim) Adkinson of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren, Hunter Gray, Hogan Gray and Hannah Gray and his mother-in-law, E. Joann Hornback. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Don Powell and Rev. Warren Traylor officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Christian Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Dwight Leslie Sarver
Dwight Leslie Sarver, 76, of Elizabethtown, died suddenly on July 13, 2010, in Anchorage, Alaska, while accomplishing his goal of visiting all 50 states. He was born in Grayson County on February 3, 1934, and graduated from Caneyville High School in 1951. He was the retired owner and operator of Sarver Trucking. He was previously active in the Elizabethtown Jaycees, Helping Hand, the Food Bank, and many other school and community activities. He was an active member of St. James Catholic Church of Elizabethtown, a volunteer at Hardin Memorial Hospital, and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1455 in Elizabethtown in which he served as Deputy Grand Knight and was a member of the Monsignor McGee General Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and coffee-drinking buddies. He is preceded in death by his son Teddy, his mother, Francis Sarver Willoughby, his father Aden Sarver, his stepfather Tom Willoughby, his brothers W.L., Franklin, and Lawrence, and his sister Linda. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Julia Kamer Sarver. He is also survived by his daughters Sandy McClain of Cecilia, Brenda (Bill) Buchwald of Frankfort, Paula (Duc) Do and Carrie (Joe) Thompson both of Louisville; his sons Keith (Debbie) Sarver of Elizabethtown, Tim (Tammy) Sarver of Vonore, TN, and Shawn (Linda) Cappellano-Sarver, recently retired from the US Navy; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters Martha Sarver of Louisville, Sara (David) Farris and Belva Kerr both of Leitchfield. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Chuck Walker officiating. Burial will follow in St. James cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday and continue after 9 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home. There will be a Prayer Vigil Service at 6 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crusade for Children or Mass on the Air.
Elisa Cuaderes Domingo
Elisa Cuaderes Domingo, 52, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, July 19, 2010 at her residence. She was a native of Manila, Phillipines and worked for civil service at Fort Knox. She was preceded in death by her parents Eusebio and Luz Desiderio. She is survived by her husband, Romeo A. Domingo, 3 daughters, Jacklynn Domingo, U.S. Navy, Great Lakes, IL, Loralyn Domingo (Micah) Skeeters of Vine Grove and Kathryn (Neil) Constancia, U. S. Army, Colorado Springs, CO, 4 sisters Norma Taruc and Ursula Mendiola of the Phillipines and Virginia Payumo and Cecilia Padios of Guam and one granddaughter, Claire Elise Skeeters. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at Gloryland Harvest Church with Pastor Jacob Pearman officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Brown Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
Victor Walters
Victor Walters, 45 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, July 16, 2010 in Springfield as a result of an automobile accident. He was a native of Grayson County and a member of First Christian Church where he was a leader of the Cornerstone Life Group. He was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for Communicare Inc. for 16 years. Victor lived out his faith through his devotion to Jesus, family and clients. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave Walters and Joann Alday Cockerel and a brother, Bill Walters. He is survived by his wife Rhonda Buck Walters; one son, A. J. Walters of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Marvin (Sarah) Walters of Carrabelle, FL and Don Walters of Floyd Knobbs, IN; one sister, Sue (David) Tomes of Leitchfield; one sister-in-law, Virginia Walters of Redding, CA and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Dale McCamish officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and continue after 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Charles Allen Tharpe
Charles Allen Tharpe, 70, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, July 5, 2010 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Hardin County and was a retired over the road truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Juanita Tharpe and two brothers, Delbert and Bruce Tharpe. He is survived by four brothers, Earnie (Linda) Tharpe, Rickie (Judy) Tharpe, Dale (Tawana) Tharpe and Wayne Tharpe; one sister, Brenda (Tony) Bradley and several nieces and nephews. Cremation was chosen. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to Hosparus.

Rosie Marie Burton, 66 of Glasgow, formerly of Hardin County, died Friday, February 26, 2010 at T. J. Sampson Hospital in Glasgow. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Karen Bracken officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today and continues after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home
Becky Smallwood
Becky Sue Smallwood, 51, of Cecilia, died Friday, November 6, 2009 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. The Jefferson County native was an instructional assistant at Howevalley Elementary School. She had worked for the Hardin County Board of Education since 1991. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Edward Riley, and by two brother -in-laws, William B. DeAngelo and James Goodman, Jr. She is survived by her husband, Tim Smallwood, one son Timmy Smallwood of Shepherdsville, one daughter, Melissa Moore (Mike) of Shepherdsville, her mother, Edna Riley of Louisville, one brother, William Riley (Rita) of Louisville, four sisters, Carol Siebert (Mike) , Judy DeAngelo, Connie Render (Steve) and Kaye Goodman all of Louisville, 25 nieces and nephews and 22 great nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Walker officiating. Burial will be in Howevalley cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Darrell Clifford
Darrell Bernard Clifford, 46, of Elizabethtown, died Friday, November 6, 2009 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was a native of Hardin County, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and an avid UK Wildcat fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Julius C. Clifford. He is survived by his mother, Vera Mae Norris Clifford of Elizabethtown, three brothers, J. Cecil Clifford (Janet) of Lebanon, Warren L. Clifford (Jane) of Elizabethtown and Gary W. Clifford (Jan) of Hodgenville, three sisters, Carolyn A. Skaggs (Tommy) and Linda L. Burgess (Bruce) all of Elizabethtown and Rebecca J. Miller (Buddy) of Cecilia and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Varnadore officiating. Burial will be in Red Hill cemetery in Hodgenville. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
