Jane Johnson Miller
Jane Johnson Miller, 85, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Helmwood Health Care Facility. She was a native of Clark County, KY, a member of White Mills Christian Church, the Order of Eastern Star and retired secretary at Lynnvale Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, V. R.Miller, her parents, Landen and Myrl E. Thomas Upchurch and two brothers, Travis and Jimmy Upchurch. She is survived by four sons, Michael (Joan) Johnson of Louisville, Johnny (Sondra) Johnson of Leitchfield, Bobby (Kathy) Johnson of Cecilia and Bill (Judy) Johnson of White Mills, 7 grandchildren, Susan, Cindy, Kristi, Amy, Brad, Adam and Grant, 6 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a special niece, Sammy Jane McKinney, 3 nephews, Jimmy Landen Upchurch, III, Richard Upchurch and Robbie Upchurch and numerous friends. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will be in White Mills cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Martha Jane Miller
Martha Jane Cain Miller, 65 of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Hardin County and a member of First Christian Church. She was a 1962 graduate of Howevalley High School, which was the last graduating class. She was the card lady at Winn Dixie for 20 years and was an avid Bluegrass Music lover. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Bernice Miller Cain and a brother, Emerson Cain. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, James A. Miller; two daughters, Pamela (Kenneth) Coomer of Louisville and Teresa (Cory) Adams of Cecilia; one sister, Dorothy (Wayne) Ford of Elizabethtown and five grandchildren, James Ryan Coomer, Abby Coomer, Dakota French, Shelby French and Caity Adams. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Stuart Jones and Bro. Chris Kiger officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continue after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to the Seekers Sunday School Class Shoe Fund at First Christian Church.
Walter Pfaff
Walter G. Pfaff, 70, of Glendale, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Alton, IL, a member of Glendale Christian Church, was a Shriner and a member of Scottish RItes. He was retired from Terex Reedrill where he worked for thirty years and was founder and owner of Pawz, LLC. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter John and Mildred Lucille Lutes Pfaff. He is survived by Angela Gale Young of Glendale with whom he was married
in the eyes of God, two sons, Gary Allan (Kathy) Hart of Black, MO and David WIlliam (Liz) Hart of Heath, OH, two daughters, Amy Michelle (J.R.) Howard of Ekron and Andrea Nicol Edwards of Elizabethtown, two brothers, Stephen John (Ann) Pfaff of Caspar, WY and Thomas William (Lupe) Pfaff of Santa Maria, CA, a special granddaughter, Jenica Shi-Ann Rusher, four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glendale Christian Church with Bro. Mike Bell officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Christian cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 12 p.m. Monday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may go to Glendale Christian Church Building Fund.
Jean Turner
Jean Turner, 88, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully, on Thursday March 25, 2010, at her residence, with her family by her side. She was a native of Jefferson County and a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church. She was an accomplished artist and loved gardening. She was a beautician and opened the Prissy Hen in 1968 where she operated it for 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vorice A. Turner; her parents, Leslie and Elizabeth Tyler Roberts; one brother, Johnny Roberts; and three sisters, Ruth, Ruby, and Grace. She is survived by two sons, James Carroll (Mary Lou) Turner of Richmond, VA and Mark Alan (Sharon) Turner of Georgetown, KY; one sister, Marcelia White of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren, Matthew James Turner of Richmond, VA and Melissa Kay Turner of Lexington, KY; and her caregiver and dear friend, Juanita Catlett of Elizabethtown. The funeral is Saturday at 2:00 p.m.at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Langley officiating. Burial to follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Robert Dale Harman
Robert D. Harman, LTC (Ret.), 84, died Friday, November 13, 2009 in Elizabethtown. Born in Decatur, Illinois, Bob had lived in Elizabethtown for 27 years. He was a retired US Army veteran, having served in World War II and Korea. He then went on to serve the US Army in civil service until his retirement. After 15 years of advocacy and service to federal retirees, Bob received the Kentucky Federation of the National Association of Retired Federal Employee (NARFE) Distinguished Service Award in 2003. He had been appointed NARFE Chapter 105 legislative chair in 1988 and served in that capacity for 14 years. He twice served as Second District Vice President, and was an integral part in the success of the NARFE volunteer-staffed Fort Knox Service Center. Bob was a past president and dedicated member of the Fort Knox Chapter of the Military Officers' Association of America (MOAA) for almost 20 years. He also served as president and vice president of the MOAA Council of Chapters. Until this year, he had been the secretary of the local chapter for almost 10 years, and was a board member. Bob also served his community as an elected volunteer member of the Fort Knox Federal Credit Union Credit Committee for 15 years. He was chairperson of that committee from 2001 until 2008. Bob is survived by his wife of almost 52 years, Ilse Harman; two daughters, Karen Hurt, of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and Andra Harman-Wrogemann, of Hermannsburg, Germany; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial service and entombment will be 2 pm Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Kentucky Veteran's cemetery Central, Radcliff. Jo Anna Smith, 75, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday at her residence. She was a native of Louisville and worked at Crucible Magnetics for over 25 years. She was preceded in death by a step daughter, Lynn Warp Helm and an Aunt, Ruby Wurfel. She is survived by her husband, Milton Smith, two step sons, Richard Allen (Cindi) Smith of Titusville, FL and Bryan L. (Tess) Smith of Elizabethtown, one step daughter, Diane (Rick) Lair of Elizabethtown, a foster sister, Alice (Edward) Bennett and their daughter, Michele Bowman of Elizabethtown and 5 grandchildren, Brandon Smith, Cameron Smith, Chris Warp, Eric Warp and Jessie Smith. There will be no visitation or services.
Frances Norine Nall
Frances Norine Nall, 66, of Boston, died Monday March 22, 2010, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was a native of Spencer County and a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bennie and Mary Elizabeth Crammer Warford; one brother, Claudie Warford; two sisters, Mildred Goodlett and Betty Gilreath. She is survived by her husband, W.D. Nall; two sons, William (Debbie) Nall of Cox's Creek and Roy(Christa) Nall of Boston; three daughters, Pam (Greg) Dockery of Boston, Wendy Nall of New Haven, and Lisa (Jay) Luperchio of Sunapee, N.H.; three brothers, Rathel Warford and Billy Warford of Shelbyville, and Bess Warford of Waddy, Kentucky; one sister, Marie Underwood of Boston; nine grandchildren, Adam Nall, Alexis Nall Madalyn Dockery, Matthew Dockery, Samantha Brothers, Zander Luperchio, Finley Luperchio, Jessica Land, and Alison Land; and one great-granddaughter, Audrina Linton. The funeral is Thursday March 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Father Mark Hamilton officiating. Burial to follow at St. John cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary Maxine Lasley Stith
Mary Maxine Lasley Stith, 90 of Eastview, died Friday, November 20, 2009 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Hardin County and a member of White Mills Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Robert Stith; her parents, Joseph Anderson and Nancy Ann Peerce Lasley and four brothers, James Michael Lasley, Guy Lasley, Wilbur Lasley and Bernard Lasley. She is survived by six sons, Bobby Stith of Greensburg, Ervin L. (Violet) Stith of White Mills, Albert Stith of Elizabethtown, Michael (Trina) Stith of Louisville, Larry Stith of Eastview and Don (Judy) Stith of Buffalo; four daughters, Elsie M. (Harold) Strader of White Mills, Shirley M. (C.T.) Goodman and Brenda Rigdon Duke all of Elizabethtown and Mary Ann (Ron) Shipley of Lemon Grove, CA; 23 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; numerous step grandchildren and two special friends, Suzy Beeler and Vonna Gowen both of Elizabethtown. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at White Mills Christian Church with Bro. Tim Dennis officiating. Burial will follow in White Mills cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and continue Monday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.
