Addison Jo Blair
Addison Jo Blair, 3 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, May 27, 2011 at Kosair Childrens Hospital. She was a fighter who will live on in the memories of everyone. She was a proud and caring daughter, a loving sister and an inspiration to many. She will be greatly missed by her parents and brother. Her motto was "I am Tougher than Cancer" She was preceded in death by her great grandfather, Roy Allen Brawner and Ruth and Joe Tanner. She is survived by her parents, Wes and Kelly Blair and a brother, Brandt Blair all of Elizabethtown; her grandparents, Mark and Melissa Blair of Elizabethtown and Rex and Rita Tanner of Brandenburg; her great grandparents, Gene and Peggy Blair of Elizabethtown, April Brawner of Eastview and Rebecca Brawner of Louisville; an aunt, Kaitlin Blair of Elizabethtown and an uncle, Clay (Nikki) Tanner of Brandenburg. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Glendale Christian Church with Bro. Mike Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Christian cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kosair Childrens Hospital in Memory of Addison.

James Kevin Mardis
James Kevin Mardis, 46, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Orrville, OH, and a Minister and member of Union Christian Church in Larue County. He enjoyed playing baseball with his sons, going to wrestling matches with his son Cody and supporting his daughter Courtney with her horses. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Mardis. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kimberly Mardis of Elizabethtown; 3 children, Cody Mardis, Collin Mardis and Courtney Mardis all of Elizabethtown; his mother, Barbara Orr Mardis Orrville, Ohio; two brothers, David Mardis of Maui, Hawaii and Wayne Mardis of Orrville, OH; one sister, Pamela Robertson of Orrville, OH. The funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at First Christian Church with Bro. Russ Jarvis, Bro. Jerry Morris and Bro. Doug Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Union Christian Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home and continue after 1 p.m. Friday at the Church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to Hopeful Hearts.

Eileen Hazelett
Eileen Shirley Fraser Hazelett, 87, of Elizabethtown, died Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Ohakune, New Zealand, was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church and formerly worked at Bussmann. She was a member of O.E.S. #174. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Eugene Hazelett and her parents, John and Anne Steedman Fraser. She is survived by two sons, James M. Hazelett (Mary) of Harvey, LA and Michael E. Hazelett (Bonnie) of Zephyrhills, FL, two daughters, Anne M. Cecil (Dickie) of Radcliff and Marta E. Higgason (Steven) of Buffalo, one half brother, James Steedman of New Zealand, one sister, Estelle Murphy, two half sisters, Rae Roberts and Colene Sergant all of New Zealand, 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Roger McCurry officiating. Burial will be in Hardin Memorial Park. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may go to: Animal Refuge Center, P.O. Box 400, Vine Grove, KY 40175 or to the donor's favorite charity.

Frances Ruth "Meme" Preston
Francis Ruth "Meme" Preston, 79 of Elizabethtown, died Friday June 17, 2011, at Kensington Manor. She was born in Hyden, KY and was a member the First Christian Church, Elizabethtown Garden Club, Elizabethtown Women's Club, at one time a member of the Elizabethtown Heritage Council. She was an avid gardener and loved antiquing. She retired as an Employment Counselor from the state after 24 years of service. She is preceded in death by her father Cal Colwell, two husbands Keenus Preston (5/23/1994) and Frederick Hulsey (1/5/1998) and a brother French Colwell. She is survived by a son Bill (Carolyn) Biggs of Blythewood, SC, two daughters Shelley (Jim) Gardner of Elizabethtown and Kathy (Jessie) Higgs of Jamestown, her mother Mae Colwell and one sister Roberta Thornton both of Franklin, OH, one granddaughter Ashley Thomas of Elizabethtown, two step sons Dwight (Cathy) Preston of Cecilia, Richard (Alane) Preston of Glendale, and a step daughter Carol (Fred) Moll of Elizabethtown. The funeral will be Monday 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and continue Monday 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Charlene Sergent
Charlene Meeks Sergent, 80, of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, June 18, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Whitley County, KY, was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church and worked for Nolin RECC for forty years. She was preceded in death by her parents W. O. and Willa Mae Fox Meeks and by two brothers. She is survived by her husband, Bill Sergent, good friends, Brown and Yvonne Gwynn of Elizabethtown, two nieces, two nephews and one great niece. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Roger McCurry officiating. Burial will be in St. James cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Roy Allen Brawner
Roy Allen Brawner, 65 of Eastview, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Hardin County and a member of Glendale Christian Church, where he recently served as the Building Superintendent for the church expansion. He was a member of the Glendale Lions Club, Glendale Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the originators of the Glendale Crossing Festival. He was a lifelong farmer and a loving husband, father and granddad/papaw Roy. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Helm; his parents, Willard R. and Laetitia Cofer Brawner and a brother, Teddie Brawner. He is survived by his wife, April Childers Brawner; four sons, Robert Allen (Bethany) Brawner of Elizabethtown, Andy (Stacy) Brawner of Glendale, Justin (Shannon) Childers of Eastview and Todd Thiel of Florida; two daughters, Melissa (Mark) Blair of Elizabethtown and Laura Brawner of Louisville; four brothers, Willard (Katherine) Brawner, Jr. and Larry (Elanor) Brawner all of Elizabethtown and Ralph (Susan) Brawner and Mike (Paula) Brawner all of Glendale; ten grandchildren, Wes Blair, Kaitlin Blair, Christian Brawner, Taylor Brawner, Jade Burgess, Chase Burgess, Bryleigh Brawner, Bryson Brawner, Madisen Childers and Hannah Childers and two great grandchildren, Addison Jo Blair and Brandt Blair. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Glendale Christian Church with Bro. Mike Bell and Bro. Jeff Gaines officiating. Burial will follow in Glendale Christian Church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glendale Christian Church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to Glendale Christian Church Building Fund.

Rebecca Hinkle
Rebecca Ann "Becky" Voignier Hinkle, 48, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at her residence. She was a native of Clarksville, IN and a member of St. James Catholic Church. She was co owner of Papa Johns Pizza in the Elizabethtown area since 1990 and was a member of the Breast Cancer Support Group and Lymphedema Support Group of Hardin County. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Barry Hinkle, two daughters, Amy Krista Hinkle and Theresa Hinkle both of Elizabethtown, her father and step mother, Tom and Denise Voignier of Clemons, NC, her mother and stepfather, Maureen and Michael D. Bryant of Clarksville, IN, 7 brothers, Matthew Voignier, Daniel Voignier and Anthony Voignier all of Jeffersonville, IN, Dale Voignier and Mark Voignier both of Clarksville, IN , David Voignier of Smith Grove and Clayton Voignier of Charlotte, NC and three sisters, Donna Petri of Jeffersonville, Karen Shephard of Clarksville and Laura Falkowski of Clemons, NC. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Chuck Walker officiating. Burial will be in St. James cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Brown Funeral HomeWith a prayer vigil at 7 p.m.. Expressions of sympathy may go to Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation for the cure of breast cancer.

Robert Wayne Best
Robert Wayne "Bob" Best, 72 of Elizabethtown, departed from his earthly life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was a native of Hardin County and an active and lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a 1958 graduate of Elizabethtown Catholic High School and retired after 32 years from the City of Elizabethtown, where he was the Superintendent of the Water Plant, waste water and maintenance. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Hettie Best and one brother, Norman Best. He is survived by four sons, Jerome (Jana) Best of Winter Park, FL, Mike Best and Joseph (Michele) Best all of Elizabethtown and Mark Best of Hodgenville; three daughters, Regina (Mike) Morgan of Cecilia, Monica Dabney of Henryville, IN and Karen (Paul) Shepard of Glasgow; his former wife, Helen Best of Elizabethtown; one sister, Cathy (Shelly) Dunn of Louisville; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday at 1 p.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Jeff Hopper officiating. Burial will follow in St. James cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and continue after 9 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home. There will be a Prayer Vigil Service Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sypathy may take the form of Contributions to St. James Church Building Fund.
