Dorothy LaVerne Ellis
Dorothy LaVerne Ellis, 79 of Elizabethtown, died Monday, October 24, 2011 at Kensington Manor. She was a native of Grayson County, a member of Gospel of Grace Baptist Church and a former member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. She worked in the lunchroom at Lincoln Trail Elementary School for 15 years and lived on Locust Grove Road for over 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Homer Ellis; her parents, Hiram Austin and Bertha Mae Williams Heath; one brother, Straud Heath and two sisters, Beulah Spratt and Ostina Noel. She is survived by one son, Thomas A. (Tammy) Ellis of Elizabethtown; three daughters, Patricia (Calvin) Keith of PA, Marilyn Elaine (Ricky) Pike of Louisville and Melba (Dennie Wilkerson) Ellis of Clarkson; nine grandchildren, Kenny Ellis, Thomas Allen "TA" Ellis, Calvin Keith, Kimberly Hornback, Craig Pike, Kayla Gividen, Keri Lavato, John Cory Burton and Kim Ellis and tweleve great grandchildren, Shannon, Blake, Dawson, Alexandra, Jameson, Jackson, Abigail, Lukas, Brookelyn, Marion, Joshua, and Jesse. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and continue after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pamela Crain Richardson
Pamela Crain Richardson, 62, of Louisville, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at her home in Louisville. Pam was a native of Hardin County, a former member of the Severns Valley Baptist Church and a graduate of Elizabethtown High School. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Divine Crain and Kenneth Crain. Pam is survived by her daughters, Dawn Richardson, Stephanie Richardson and Carrie (Jeff) Epperson; three grandchildren, Tessa Richardson-Williams, Eli and Kennedy Epperson; two brothers, Park Crain and Rickie (Karen) Crain; three nieces, Paige, Courtney and Rikkijill Crain; one nephew, Dylan Crain; one great nephew, Drayden; her loving companion, Tim Brashear and her beloved dog, Icky. A memorial will be held at the Epperson home, 2902 Bradford Grove Lane, Louisville, Saturday, September 24 from 4-7 PM. Audie Borders
Audie Jackson Borders, 87, of Elizabethtown, went to be with the Lord on Friday September 9, 2011, at Norton Pavilion in Louisville. He was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church and retired from the U.S. Army and Civil Service. He was born on November 8, 1923 in Falcon, KY. He is preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Anne Borders, three brothers two sisters and a grandson, Adam Clayton Bucholz. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Borders; a son, Jesse Borders of Colorado Springs, CO; five daughters, Carolyn Kleinschmidt of Louisville, Lynn Allison of Vine Grove, Patricia Tierney of Chico, CA, Nancy Gordon of Bradenton, FL, and Crystal Borders of Elizabethtown; two brothers; three sisters; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Bill Langley officiating. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Alice Mildred Thomas
Alice Mildred Thomas, 88, of Glendale, died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at her residence. The Hardin County native was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was retired from E'town Sportswear. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Bertha Mae Owens Thomas and by a brother, Hayes Thomas. She is survived by a brother, Ernest S. Thomas of Glendale The funeral will be at 12 Noon Saturday at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Ben Brown, Rev. Jeff Hopper and Rev. Bill Martin officiating. Burial will be in St. James cemetery. Visitation is 4:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home. A prayer vigil will be 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Katherine Church
Katherine Church, 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at her daughter's residence. She was a native of Hardin County and attended Valley Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Harry Thomas Church, her parents, Cora Shelton and Herbert Milburn, Sr.; a brother, Edward Milburn; and two sisters, Reva Edlin and Frances Miller and a granddaughter, Kathy Faye Chase. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Alice Gibbons of Elizabethtown; a brother, Herbert Milburn, Jr.; two sisters, Emma Jaggers and Josephine Riddle. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Howard E. Pryor officiating. Burial will follow at Hardin Memorial Park. The visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and continue after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Corinne "Kay" Smith
Corinne Mae "Kay" Smith, 87 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, August 19, 2011 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Adair County and a lifetime member of the DAV. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Ella Mae Stotts Gibson. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, William H. "Bill" Smith; one son, Anthony H. (Charlotte) Smith of Elizabethtown and one daughter, June E. (John) Walsh of Naples, FL; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Danny Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 12:15 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Ledward B. Shultz
Ledward B. Shultz, Jr. 62, of Radcliff, died Friday August, 12, 2011, at Jewish Hospital. The Ohio County native served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran; ending his military career with the 100th Division. He retired from Fort Knox Civil Service. He was a member of Bethesda Ministries. He was preceded in death by his parents Ledward and Mitti Shultz, Sr. He was survived by several cousins and friends. The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Bethesda Ministries with Rev. Jerry Westerfield officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans cemetery Central in Radcliff. Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Church. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Wilburn Wendell Evans
Wilburn Wendell Evans, 84, of Elizabethtown, died Monday, August 15, 2011 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. He was a native of Hardin County and a member of Elizabethtown Baptist Church and the Morrison Masonic Lodge #212 F & AM. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired deputy fire chief after 30 yeras at Ft. Knox. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jefferson Lee and Fannie Nell Walters Evans and a brother, Gordon Evans. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, June Peck Evans; four sons, Wendell Lee "Buddy" (Frankie) Evans of Bardstown, Herbie Evans of Lexington, Bruce (Robyn) Evans of Elizabethtown and Jason (Lora) Evans of Simpsonville; 11 grandchildren, Holly (John) Scheffer of Lambertville, MI, Heather Evans Krupp of Bardstown, Monica (Clifford) Hensley of Lexington, Michele (Todd) Large of Marianna, FL, Jennifer (Chris) Lohden of Elizabethtown, Dean (Whitney) Evans of Ewing, KY, Bethany (Mike) Page of Cecilia, Jefferson Evans of Louisville, Brent Evans of Vine Grove, Nathan Evans of Simpsonville and Megan June Evans of Simpsonville; and 13 great grandchildren.
