Elmer S. Locker
LEXINGTON -- Elmer S. Locker, 79, of Lexington died Saturday at Samaritan Hospital.
Born in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Owen and Elizabeth Rogers Locker. He was a retired electronics expert for Lexington Bluegrass Army Depot and a member of Meadowthorpe Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife, Stella Locker; two daughters, Linda Locker of Lexington and Brenda Locker of Corona Del Mar, Calif.; a son, Jeff Locker of Palm Springs, Calif.; a brother, Chester Locker of Paint Lick; and three sisters, Anna Clark of Springfield, Ohio, Roberta Duggins of Lancaster, and Melva Dean Speaks of Stanford.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home by Logan W. Hart. Burial will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today.

Frances D. Shafer
HARRODSBURG-- Frances D. Shafer, 88, of Shelbyville, Ind., formerly of Mercer County, died Sunday.
Born March 24, 1912, in Winchester, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Ferris Lucy Guy McGuire. She was a retired special education teacher and a member of Burgin Christian Church. She was the widow of Dr. Cecil W. Shafer.
Survivors include two sons, James Shafer of Shelbyville and John Shafer of Arkansas; three sisters, Elizabeth Clifton and Nancy Faulkner, both of Lexington, and BenEtta McRay of North Carolina; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Burgin Christian Church by the Revs. Linda Gearhart and Scott Shafer. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Ransdell Funeral Chapel.
Memorials may go to Burgin Christian Church.

Arnold Black
WAYNESBURG -- Services for Arnold Black, 52, of Eubank will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Sammie Adkins and Gerald Sims. Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery.
He died Sunday in Eubank.
Born April 2, 1948, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Melvin and Cynthia Pittman Black. He was a farmer and a member of Polly Ann Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Mercer Black; a son, Jimmy Black of Eubank; six sisters, Vernice Hardwick and Christine Howard, both of Somerset, Kay Timmerman of Lincoln, Neb., Mildred Young of Dayton, Ohio, Maxine Tackett of Winchester and Patty Young of Loveland, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

STANFORD -- Services for Pauline Kennedy, 85, of Ky. 698, Hustonville, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Funeral Home by Golvin Chadwell. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
She died Monday at Fort Logan Hospital.
Born Nov. 28, 1915, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Leeper Wilcher. She was a homemaker, member of New Salem Baptist Church, and the widow of Willie J. "Bill" Kennedy.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Trimble of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Christine Wheat of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ronald McWhorter, Kenneth Austin, Dorsey Elmore, Earl Allen, B.C. Allen and Gary Allen.
Visitation will be 5:30-8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.

Cleo Lewis
HARRODSBURG -- Services for Cleo Lewis, 68, of Oakland Lane will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by Donnie Releford and Gilbert Robinson. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
He died Monday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 31, 1933, in Burgin, he was the son of the late Golie and Minnie Robinson Lewis. He was a retired Kentucky Utilities employee and a member of Dry Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include his companion, Laura Byrd; and five brothers, James A. Lewis, Randell Lewis, Goodloe Lewis and Marvin Lewis, all of Harrodsburg, and Goldie Lewis of Lawrenceburg.
Pallbearers will be Shane Koettel, Bobby Lewis, Haldon Lewis, Randy Lewis, Ricky Lewis and Butch Merchant. Honorary pallbearers are Herman Taylor, Willis Hendren, Gary Peavler and deacons of Dry Branch Baptist Church.

Arthur B. Meaux
HARRODSBURG -- Arthur B. Meaux Sr., 81, formerly of Salvisa died Saturday at Thomson-Wood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
Born April 10, 1919, he was the son of the late Vance and Eva Cunningham Meaux. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a former employee of the W.K. Hikes family in Louisville for more than 20 years.
Survivors include three sons, Arthur B. Meaux Jr. of Chicago, Ill., John Meaux of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mark Meaux of Louisville; two daughters, Shalonda Meaux of Louisville and Wilma A. Meaux of Cleveland, Ohio; and six grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Parks Funeral Home by the Rev. H.D. Cockerham. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Meaux Jr., Mark Meaux, John Meaux, Sherman Smith, Leroy Caldwell and Rodney Baker.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday and after 7:30 a.m. Friday until time of service.

LANCASTER -- Services for Mary Oplinger, 63, of Lancaster, formerly of Greentown, Ohio, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Booth Funeral Home in Greentown.
She died Saturday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 9, 1937, in Greentown, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Denise Pauline Michael of Lancaster and Debra M. Kauffman and Jody Barton, both of Greentown; four sons, James Miller, Timothy Vance, John Oplinger and Craig Oplinger, all of Greentown; and 25 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Richards.
There will be no local visitation.

LIBERTY -- Thomas Cordell Brown, 83, of Liberty died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 3, 1917, in Livingston, Tenn., he was a son of the late Lum and Aldine Clark Brown. He was a retired saw mill employee, an Army veteran of World War II, and the widower of Ada Shoopman Brown.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Christian, Deborah Miller and Terri McQueary, all of Liberty; two sons, Thomas Brown of Fairdale and Ervin Brown of Rineyville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Carl Brown.
Services were today at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Robert Flynn. Burial was in Okalona Cemetery, Livingston.

Greg Hancock
WAYNESBURG -- Greg Hancock, 41, of Eubank died Saturday at his home.
Born in Clinton County, he was a son of Josie Hart Hancock of Eubank and the late Carl S. Hancock. He was a maintenance employee at Garrard County Memorial Hospital and a former employee of Woodstock Pallet Mill for 14 years. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he was a Sunday School supervisor for five years. He was an Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Guy Hancock; two sons, Kevin Hancock and Alexander Hancock, both of Eubank; two brothers, Rick Hancock of Mount Sterling and Phillip Hancock of Eubank; and a sister, Holly Murphy of Science Hill. He was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Hancock.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home by Delmer Whitter. Burial will be in Goochtown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Goforth, Dean Rains, Phillip Hancock, David Guy, Ronnie Guy and Joe Rains.

CRESTWOOD -- Harriet Lee Hawley, 92, of Danville died Thursday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Crestwood, she was a former employee of Central Life Insurance Co. where she worked for 35 years, and a former employee of Bellewood Presbyterian Home. She was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sister, Pauline Bailey of Danville; and a nephew who was her caregiver, Edward F. Coleman of Greensboro, Ga.
Services were Saturday at Stoess Funeral Home by the Rev. William Johnston. Burial was in Floydsburg Cemetery.
