SPRINGFIELD -- Clifton Cornish, 83, of Springfield died Saturday at his home.
Born Oct. 23, 1917, in Washington County, he was a son of the late Charles and Lily Kays Cornish. He was a longtime employee of Spaulding Tractor Co. and the former Springfield Motor Co. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 50 F&AM. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the widower of Dorothy Stine Cornish.
Survivors include two sons, David Cornish of Amherst, Ohio, and Jerry Cornish of Oberlin, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara Carney of Burgin and Betty Nell Hamilton of Springfield; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Carey & Son Funeral Home by the Rev. Bland Mason. Burial will be on Cemetery Hill with military rites by the Marion County Honor Guard.
Visitation is 4:30-9 p.m. today with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.

LONDON -- Johnnie Wells, 68, of Livingston died Monday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Survivors include his wife, Gwen Robbins Wells; two sons, Ricky Wells of Berkley Springs, W.Va., and Michael Wells of Glendale, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Lorie Auslender of Wilton, Conn.; two stepsons, Gene Harris of Middletown, Ohio, and Lonnie Lisle of Hamilton, Ohio; four brothers, brothers, Leroy Wells of Waynesburg, Luther Wells of Chatsworth, Ga., Bobby Wells of Hamilton, Ohio, and Coolie Wells of Brodhead; and two sisters, Lavena Gibson of Waynesburg and Iva Cheatum of Stanford.
Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

MIDDLEBURG -- Eula Bell Wesley, 73, of Louisville died Sunday at her home.
Born Sept. 28, 1927, in Yosemite, she was a daughter of the late William T. and Effie Nickles Durham. She was a homemaker and a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roy T. Wesley; three daughters, Carol Sherril of Indianapolis, Effie Schlicher and Rosa Gould, both of Louisville; three sisters, Thelma Kays, Mary Denson and Lutricia Sassard, all of Yosemite; a brother, Leonard Durham of Liberty; 10 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Roy T. Wesley Jr. and Ronald R. Wesley.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. C.B. Carman. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Martin Lawson
Services for Martin Lawson, 87, of Goggin Lane will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hedgeville Baptist Church by the Revs. Terry Cornish and Bill Boldt. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
He died Monday at his home after a long illness.
Born Feb. 20, 1913, in Grayson County, he was a son of the late Jasper and Bertha F. Curtsinger Lawson. He was a carpenter and builder and a retired employee of Kentucky School for the Deaf. He was a charter member of Hedgeville Baptist Church and superintendent of the Sunday school for 30 years.
Survivors include his wife, Sadie Hogue Lawson; a son, James W. Lawson of Danville; two daughters, Barbara Overstreet of Danville and Martha Caudill of Stanford; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Smith, David Petitt, Larry Moore, Mike Davis, Bill Sanders, William Gay and Tony Hunt. Honorary pallbearers are Lisa Pittman, Marty Lawson, Mark Overstreet, Scott Lawson, Kenny Short, Prentice Shewmaker and great-grandchildren.

Shirley Mason Wagner, 48, of Cincinnati, formerly of Liberty, died Saturday in Cincinnati of natural causes.
Born Dec., 13, 1951, in Casey County, she was the daughter of Chester E. and Ruth Carter Mason of Liberty.
She was a caretaker for the elderly.
Survivors include five sisters, Elsie L. Davis of Lexington, Sharon Eads of Campbellsville, and Lois Eads, Karen May and Angie Ramirez, all of Liberty; three brothers, Jack Mason of Liberty and Paul and Ronald Mason, both of Cincinnati.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Bob McCann. Burial will be in Mason Cemetery.

Brenda Elliott
PERRYVILLE -- Services for Brenda "Sissy" Allen Elliott, 58, of Springfield Road will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Perryville United Methodist Church by the Revs. Jimmy Owens, Tony Campbell and Bill Pollack. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
She died Saturday at her home. The death has been ruled a suicide, said Boyle County Coroner James W. Ramey.

Survivors include her husband, Monte Elliott; two sons, Dale Elliott and Barry Elliott, both of Perryville; a brother, Barney Carpenter of Lexington; and two grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Carpenter Jr., Buddy Daugherty, Ted Garrison, David McCarty, Bruce Helm and Rodney Marlow.

She died Saturday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born June 10, 1908, in Knox County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas T. and Sudie Higgens Turner. She was a former employee of Links Tobacco Warehouse in Lexington, a member of Lancaster Baptist Church and the widow of Kinniard Humphrey.
Survivors include three daughters, Hazel Spangler and Sue Beatty, both of Florida, and Emma Gosser of Wilmore; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Sizemore.
Pallbearers will be Ray Hammonds, Jim Spurlin, Lonnie Napier, Shelton Moss, John Smith and Dan Hall. Honorary pallbearers are James Spurlin, Paul Long, Cecil Smith, Eddie Fletcher, Tom Blankenship and Bill Meadows.

Chester H. Sims
WAYNESBURG -- Services for Chester H. Sims, 74, of the Walltown community were Sunday at Corinth Baptist Church by Steven Willingham and Leonard Streeval. Burial was in K.P. Hall Cemetery with military rites by Caswell Saufley Post 18 of the American Legion.
He died Friday at his home.
Born Feb. 7, 1926, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Jack and Bertha Toadvine Sims.
He was a farmer and storekeeper and a member of Corinth First Church of God. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7101.
Survivors include a son, Junior Sims of Walltown; a daughter, Sheila Dunham of Walltown; a brother, Louis Sims of Harrodsburg; three sisters, June Cane of Liberty, Beatrice Lape of Cincinnati and Mary Jett of Fairfield, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Robert, Ryan and Brandon Dunham, Justine Bowmer, Willard Sims and Paul Price.

Michael D. Coppinger
LANCASTER -- Michael Damner Coppinger, 51, of Lancaster, died Wednesday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center after being struck by a car in Jessamine County.
Born July 1, 1949, in St. Louis. Mo., he was a son of Michael D. and Mildred Coppinger of St. Louis. Mo.
He was vice president and a board member of the National Softball Association, and the association's chief umpire. He had been an umpire for over 30 years and was an inductee of the softball association Hall of Fame.
He was active in little league sports in Garrard County, and had worked with the sports department at the high school. He also was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of St. William Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Coppinger and Kyle Coppinger, both of St. Louis; three daughters, Kristy Coppinger and Stacey Coppinger, both of St. Louis and Madison Coppinger of Lancaster; three sisters, Donna Ryan, Karen Chaudoin, and Kathy Travers, all of St. Louis; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Spurlin Funeral Home by the Rev. Michael Weiglicki. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis.
Visitation is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday with a prayer service at 2 p.m.
