Charles R. Gordon
LOUISVILLE -- Charles R. "Happy Jack" Gordon, 69, of Louisville, formerly of Junction City, died Friday at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.
Born in Boyle County he was the son of the late Andrew "Buck" and Ella Setters Gordon. He was a Korean War Army veteran and was the owner and operator of C.R. Gordon Painting and Repair, Inc., and co-owner of Goheco, Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Gregg Gordon; four daughters, Charlane Gordon Gathy of Lexington and Trina Gordon Buschman, Alicia Gordon Hackbarth and Cristi Gordon Bale, all of Louisville; two step daughters, Diana Klimko and Donna Smith; a sister, Anna "Sissy" Byrd; two brothers, Bill Gordon of Danville and John Gordon Sr. of Louisville; a half brother, Samuel Mounce of Michigan; and 13 grandchildren.
Services will be 4 p.m. Monday at Crescent Hill Baptist Church Chapel, 2800 Frankfort Ave., Louisville. A private burial service will be at Cave Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Arch L. Heady-Cralle Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

George E. Withers
LANCASTER -- George Edward Withers, 80, of Lancaster died Thursday at Garrard Memorial Hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1922, in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Harrison Anderson and Nannie Withers.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lancaster, and a member of the deacon board, men's club and was a Sunday School teacher. He was a concrete finisher for 30 years and an employee at Old Bridge Golf Club. He was the widower of Aslee Withers.
Survivors include his stepdaughter Anna Lois Davis; three step grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Lancaster by the Rev. David McPherson. Burial will be in Lancaster Duncantown Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Garland Dismeaux, Jimmy Mitchell, Timmy Alcorn, Cecil Alcorn, Johnny Thomas and Walter Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Dunn, Oscar Jackson, James Davis, Arthur L. Dunn, and Gillis Dismeaux, Jr.
Smith-Jackson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church, Lancaster.

Howard Hoskins
STANFORD -- Services for Howard Hoskins, 79, of Stanford will be 2 p.m. today at Spurlin Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dan Gutenson. Burial will be at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
He died Thursday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
Born Oct. 4, 1923, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late George and Stella Wilson Hoskins. He was a farmer, a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church and a World War II Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Bowling Hoskins of Stanford; three sons, Jerry Hoskins of Columbus, Ohio, Keith Hoskins of Richmond, and John Hoskins of Stanford; two daughters, Karen Hoskins Smith of Louisville and Debbie Kuhn of Danville; one brother, Homer Hoskins of Stanford; and one sister, Lois Jean Gordon of Danville; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Smith, Jason, Kevin and Matthew Hoskins, and Jeremy, Brandon and Josh Renner. Honorary pallbearers will be Lisa Hoskins Garber, Tonya Smith, Ashley Hoskins Abshire, Michelle Smith, Leslie Hoskins Staton, and Kimberly and Kristina Hoskins.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.

Ivan L. Murphy
Ivan Lee "Boo" Murphy Jr., 64, of North Fifth Street died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born March 29, 1938, in Danville, he was the son of the late Ivan L. and Virginia L. Coomer Murphy. He was a custodian at Third Street Barber Shop and Stith Funeral Home.
Survivors include three sisters, Mary Leathers of Danville, Ruth West of Louisville and Margie Walls of LaGrange; and a brother, James Murphy of Danville.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.

Denny Allen
LIBERTY -- Denny Allen, 47, of Heather Lane died Monday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Aug. 25, 1955, in Casey County, he was the son of Clarel Scott Allen of Liberty and the late Waymon Allen. He was a member of Green River Valley Baptist Church and Casey Masonic Lodge 424.
Other survivors include his wife, Phyllis Morgan Allen; four sisters, Bernice Allen of Campbellsville, Nancy Shoopman, Reece Whited and Fredia Black, all of Liberty; a brother, Garland Allen of Liberty; and a grandchild.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home by Jamie Bryant and Troy Coffey. Burial will be in Willow Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Garnett and Donald Morgan, Dwight Black, Jeremy Kerry, William Shoopman and Bill Chadwell.

Robert Duncan
LOUISVILLE -- Robert Duncan, 90, of Jeffersontown, formerly of Danville, died Sunday at Hurstborne Care Center.
He was retired from Corning Glass Works, where he was production foreman, and was a member of the Elks Club.
Survivors include a son, Robert E. Duncan; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Foreman Funeral Home. Burial will be in Jeffersontown Cemetery.

James R. Isham
HARRODSBURG -- James Royce Isham, 78, of Larchmont Drive died Sunday at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Dec. 22, 1923, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late James and Hadgie N. Peavler Isham. He was a retired Corning Glass Co. machinist, a member of Pioneer Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel and Pioneer of Harrodsburg. He served in the Army during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol I. Bizzell of Harrodsburg; three sisters, Marie Best, Pauline Votaw and Mildred Isham, all of Harrodsburg; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Jack Geurin and Butch Merchant. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be James Best Jr., Michael Brown, David Lunsford, Donovan Bast, Stanley Isham Jr., Henry Anness and Ernest Shepherd.

Frank W. Powell
MARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Frank Wells Powell, 73, of Louisville, Tenn., died Sunday at his home.
Born Dec. 15, 1928, in Stanford, he was the son of the late R.M. and Mary Letha Powell. He was a deaf educator and administrator, having taught at Kentucky School for the Deaf and other schools, and served as director of Callier Speech and Hearing Center in Dallas, Texas. He was a speaker and consultant on deaf education issues. He received a bachelor's degree from Centre College and a master's degree from Galludet University. He also was an Air Force veteran, having served as a navigator in the Korean War.
Survivors include his adopted son, Mark Oppie of Louisville, Tenn.; two sisters, Peggy Murphy of Nicholasville and Mary Roberts of Louisville, Tenn.; and a brother, Josh Powell of Atlanta, Ga.
A memorial service was held today in Maryville. A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford.
Memorials may go to Stanford Presbyterian Church.

Clyde Allen
LIBERTY -- Services for Clyde Allen, 87, of Caney Fork Road will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bartle Funeral Home by Bearl King. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
He died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born June 5, 1915, in Liberty, he was the son of the late John E. and Ora Tapscott Allen. He was a farmer and the widower of Mary Cox Allen.
Survivors include five sons, Shelby Allen of Crocker, Mo., Garry Allen of Nineva, Ind., Glen Allen of Frankfort, Ind., Don Allen of Franklin, Ind., and Evan Allen of Liberty; two daughters, Shelia Hudson of Dunnville and Charlotte Haggard of Fairborne, Ind.; 19 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Sherrill Allen; and two grandchildren.

Billie J. Hazelip
HARRODSBURG -- Services for Billie Jean Hazelip, 48, of Graham Avenue will be held at a later date.
She died Monday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 22, 1952, in Strodsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Betty Schick Widmer. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, John L. Hazelip Jr.; a son, Jason A. Hazelip of Harrodsburg; a daughter, Tiffany Lucas of Harrodsburg; and three grandchildren.
No visitation will be held.
