Jesse James
HARRODSBURG -- Services for Jesse James, 85, of Cane Run Street will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Don Chase. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
He died Monday at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital.
Born Oct. 24, 1916, in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Chris and Ina Royalty James. He was an employee of the Harrodsburg post office, a member of Bohon Church of Christ and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Mae Terhune James; a daughter, Rita McGlone of Harrodsburg; two sons, Connie James of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Terry James of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren; two step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a step great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Peavler, Jackie Springate, Billy Grider, Carlos Lester, Orbon Mayes, Marvin Robinson and John Lane.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and prior to the service Thursday.
Memorials may go to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Harrodsburg Christian Church.

Georgia F. McCowan
Services for Georgia Gillette Faulkner McCowan, 74, of North Street will be 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Second and Walnut streets, by the Rev. Richard Hill. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
She died Monday at the Danville Center for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Sept. 11, 1928, in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Georgia Faulkner. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the church's Rachel Griffin Missionary Circle and the Glee Club.
She had been food supervisor at the Kentucky School for the Deaf.
Survivors include her husband, Archie McCowan; three daughters, Glenda Smith of Canton, N.Y., Mona Kennedy of Lexington and Deborah Kay Stevenson of Durham, N.C.; two sons, Ronald P. McCowan of Danville and Garnett Brown of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Sylvia Kennedy and Rosetta Ford, both of Danville; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mark and Andrew Smith, Kevin, Troy and Derrick McCowan, Shane Kennedy and David Stevenson. Honorary pallbearers are Marcus Hawkins, Charles Ford Jr., John Raines, Norman Faulkner, and Gary, Charles and Otis Ford.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Keith D. McGuire
HARRODSBURG -- Services for Keith D. McGuire, 65, of Clarksville, Ind., will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by James Harley. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
He died Monday at University of Louisville Hospital.
Born April 6, 1937, in Mercer County, he was the son of the late John H. and Eva O. Darland McGuire. He was a horse trainer, a drywaller, an Army veteran and had served in the Kentucky National Guard. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, American Legion Post 52 and the Kentucky Racing Commission.
Survivors include two sons, Keith A. McGuire of West Liberty and Brian K. McGuire of Harrodsburg; four brothers, Ralph McGuire and Vernon McGuire, both of Harrodsburg, Leslie McGuire of Louisville and Eugene McGuire of Salvisa; three sisters, Pauline Caine of Louisville, LaVerne Grider and Irene Harlow, both of Harrodsburg; and a granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Thursday.

Avery L. Atwell
Avery Lawrence Atwell, 90, of Jean Drive, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 4, 1912, in Green County, he was a son of the late Willie and Frances Judd Atwell. He was a retired farmer and former employee of Capitol Heating and Air in Frankfort. He attended New Life Worship Center in Frankfort and was a member, former Sunday School teacher, treasurer and deacon of Zion Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Rita Daniel.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Irene Noel Atwell; two daughters, Nina Kirkland and Juanita Girtley, both of Danville; two sisters, Gladys Yates of Louisville and Annebelle Skaggs of Campbellsville; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home by the Rev. Gene Roberts. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort.
Pallbearers will be Donnie and John Girtley, Shawn England, Jim Daniel, Bobby Skaggs and Darwin Warren.

CRAB ORCHARD -- Joe Irvin, 89, of Harness Ridge Road, died Friday at Stanford House Nursing Home.
Born Jan. 3, 1913, he was a son of the late Edmond and Dorothy Turner Irvin. He was a farmer; a member of Danville Church of God; and attended Crab Orchard Church of God.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Terry and Tommy Irvin; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Survivors include his wife, Iva Reynolds of Crab Orchard; four daughters, Betty Guinn and Brenda Thompson, both of Stanford, Joyce Record of Danville and Glenda Moore of Junction City; two sons, Billy Irvin of Stanford and Roger Irvin of Crab Orchard; a brother, Elza "Bud" Irvin of Ohio; three sisters, Elsie Hendrickson and Doris Acton, both of Crab Orchard, and Vernice Yantz of Waynesburg; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

James. L. Riggins
LIBERTY -- James L. Riggins, 75, of South Fork Creek, Liberty, died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Feb. 22, 1927, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Lee and Effie Baldock Riggins.
He was a former state trooper, a former Casey County sheriff, and a farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a graduate of Eastern Kentucky Unviversity with a degree in history and law enforcement, and a graduate of the Kentucky State Police Academy. He was a certified teacher and an inventor.
Survivors include his wife, Tita Alga Riggins; two sons, Dennis Riggins of Port Orange, Fla., and John Riggins of Liberty; two daughters, Jane Floyd and Tiffany Riggins, both of Liberty; a stepson, Daby Alga of Liberty; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at South Fork Baptist Church by Vernon Blakey. Burial will be in South Fork Cemetery with military honors by Casey County Funeral Squad.
Visitation is after 6 p.m. today and all day Saturday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Elizabeth E. Ammons
HARRODSBURG -- Elizabeth Erickson Ammons, 39, of 1977 New Dixville Road, Harrodsburg, died Wednesday at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born Jan. 30, 1963, she was the daughter of George and Ursula Luck of Panama City Beach, Fla.
She was a homemaker and a member of Worldstown Church of God in Junction City.
Survivors include her husband, Dana Mark Ammons; a son, Dana Joe Ammons of Harrodsburg; two daughters, Hiedi Christine Ammons and Scarlette "Mouse" Ammons, both of Harrodsburg; a brother, Frank Erickson of Jacksonville, Fla.; and three sisters, Tina Clark of Jacksonville, Fla., and Tammy Koscak and Monica Luck, both of Panama City Beach, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Worldstown Church of God in Junction City with the Rev. Floying Thompson officiating. There will be no visitation.
Ransdell Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
