John B. Goff
MORELAND -- John B. Goff, 79, of Community Center Drive died Friday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
Born Aug. 15, 1921, in Pike County, he was a son of the late Andrew Jackson and Lady Alice Adkins Goff. He was the widower of Virginia K. Goode Goff. He was a retired railway worker, stationed in Indianapolis, an Army veteran of World War II, during which he served as a cook, a member of North Park Masonic Lodge No. 646 F&AM;, Indianapolis, a member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, N.M.J., Indianapolis, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Baker Goff; a daughter, Jewell Dean Loper of Moreland; a son, John Scott Goff of West Lafayette, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Linda Miller of Dayton, Ohio; two stepsons, Dennis Smith of Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Larry Smith of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Alden Goff of Michigan and George Goff of Indiana; 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Deborah Goff and Jennifer Goff.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by G.W. Smith. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today. Masonic rites by Rocky Ford Lodge No. 765 will be 7 p.m. today.

Joseph R. Hines Sr.
SOMERSET -- Joseph R. Hines Sr., 94, of North Main Street, died Thursday at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
Born Sept. 22, 1906, in Somerset, he was a son of the late Ben and Lelia Elrod Hines. He was the widower of Faye Griffith Hines. He was a retired signal maintenance employee for 59 years with Southern Railway, a member and deacon of First United Methodist Church, a 20-year member and 13-year chairman of the board of directors of Somerset City Hospital and a 60-year member of Somerset Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include two sons, Joe R. Hines Jr. of Danville and John Griffith Hines of Rome, Ga.; a daughter, Betty Faye Dykes of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; two brothers, Arthur J. Hines and John William Hines, both of Somerset; a sister, Helen Hines Burgin of Somerset; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at Somerset Undertaking Co. by the Revs. Doug Wilcoxson and Ralph Wesley. Burial was in Somerset Cemetery.
Memorials may go to First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.

LANCASTER -- William Duvell McPherson, daughter of Stacy Strunk and Deborah McPherson, was stillborn Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Danville.
Additional survivors include his sisters, Draven McPherson and Bryanna Strunk.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lancaster Cemetery by the Rev. Barry Bowman.

HARRODSBURG --Bessie P. Votaw, 81, of Battle Road, Mackville, died Friday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born July 27, 1919, in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late James and Molly Riley Hatchett. She was the widow of Sabe G. Votaw. She was a retired employee of Springfield Redrying.
Survivors include a daughter, Lois Dean of Harrodsburg; a brother, William Hatchett of Illinois; a sister, Doris Bishop of Ohio; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. today at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Lewis Walter. Burial will be in Battle Cemetery, Washington County.
Pallbearers will be Eric Hale, Chris Shackleford, Donald Cunningham and Darly Baker.

LANCASTER -- Marie Stevens Walton, 89, of Pin Oak Drive died Friday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 15, 1911, in Garrard County, she was a daughter of the late Dave and Margaret Anderson Stevens. She was the widow of Neff Walton. She was a homemaker and a member of Lancaster Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, James Neff Walton of Danville and Gordon Walton and Steve Walton, both of Lancaster; a daughter, Geneva Hurt of Lancaster; three sisters, Lucy Walton of Danville, Malinda Cowan of Lancaster and Christine Taylor of Stanford; and four grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Revs. Barry Jeffries, Zora Oliver and Shelby Roy Hopkins. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Shelby Roy Hopkins, John Walton, Mickey Arnold, Clyde Sherrow, Burl Cornelius and Jimmy Crutchfield. Honorary pallbearers will be L.B. Oliver, Bill Oliver, the Rev. Zora Oliver, Bobby Cole, Ernest Combs and Warren Alan Moore.

Born in Jessamine County, she the daughter of the late Dennis and Lue Vertie Hagar Frederick. She was the widow of David W. Schanding. She was retired factory worker for General Electric and a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include a grandson, Steve Schanding of California; a granddaughter, Karen Neilson of Littleon, Colo.; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home by Joseph R. Tackett. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.

Born April 29, 1909, in Barbourville, she was a daughter of the late George and Laura Perry. She was the widow of Lester Chadwell. She was a homemaker, a nurse's aide at Garrard County Memorial Hospital and a Baptist.
Survivors include four sons, G.C. Chadwell and Gene Chadwell, both of Lancaster, and Smilie Chadwell and Shelby Jewel Chadwell, both of Greenwood, Ind.; a daughter, Mary M. Swafford of Greenwood, Ind.; three sisters; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

HARRODSBURG -- Services for James Williams Phillips, 63, of Dale Ann Drive, Haines City, Fla., will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel by Bobby Logue. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
He died Tuesday at his home.
Born April 7, 1938, in Harrodsburg, he was a son of David W. Phillips of Harrodsburg and the late Helen Robinson. He was a former construction worker, employed by Disney World, a former Marine and a member of Freewill Baptist Church.
Additional survivors include his wife, Donna Phillips; four daughters, Regina Monn of Tyler, Texas, Annette Becknell of Lexington, Lisa Phillips-Smith of Nicholasville and Missy Carpenter of Perryville; a brother, Ivan Phillips of Burgin; three half brothers, Clarence Phillips and Richard Lane, both of Harrodsburg, and David W. Phillips Jr. of Burgin; two half sisters, Shirley Wheeler and Kathy Worthington, both of Harrodsburg; and several grandchildren.

Peggy Sue Waddell, 43, of Skyline Drive, Stanford, died Sunday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.
Born March 27, 1958, in Lee County, she was the daughter of Logan and Mildred Stamper Faulkner of Stanford.
Other survivors include six sisters, Fern Randolph of Cincinnati, Virginia Drake and Linda Herring, both of Stanford, Mary Damron of East Bernstadt, and Lillian Yeager and Saundra Cox, both of Versailles; and two brothers, Logan Faulkner Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Ronnie Faulkner of Trenton, Ohio.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Preston-Pruitt Funeral Home.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Marbie Arizona Clayborn Marple, 80, of Junction City died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born May 31, 1921, in Fentress County, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James L. and Ermin Hardin Clayborn. She had been an employee of the defense plant of the Ford Motor Co. during World War II and of Crosley's Co. in Cincinnati. She was a member of Junction City First Baptist Church and the widow of Walter Marple.
Survivors include three daughters, Gail Marple of Erlanger, Shirley Hledik of Kennewick, Wash., and Rebecca J. Marple of Union, S.C.; three sisters, Ruby Vaught and Bonnie Atwood, both of Indianapolis, and Nellie Lane of Casey County; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
