HARRODSBURG -- Vevia Best, 96, formerly of Runyon Road, died Saturday at Eastern Star Nursing Home in Louisville.
Born July 23, 1906, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Bob and Birdie Trower Yeast. She was a retired supervisor, and a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star 309 for 53 years.
Survivors include three grandchildren, including Vivia Sue Best of Harrodsburg; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James E. and Robert M. Best.
Graveside services were today at Spring Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Renee Mitchell.

Francis M. Clark
HARRODSBURG -- Francis M. Clark, 77, of Mooreland Avenue died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born March 10, 1930, in Nelson County, he was the son of the late Francis M. and Mary E. Caho Clark. He was a retired boiler technician at St. Mary's and Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville.
Survivors include two brothers, Bruce Clark and Tom Clark, both of Louisville; and three sisters, Marie Wright of Louisville, Ortha Clark of El Paso, Texas, and Tootie Robertson of Florida.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Battle Cemetery in Washington County.
Visitation will be after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.

Edna A. Swope
LANCASTER -- Edna Arnold Swope, 102, of Danville Street died Sunday at Garrard County Memorial Hospital.
Born Dec. 13, 1900, in Garrard County, she was the daughter of the late Thomps M. and Virginia Jenkins Arnold. She was a retired employee of Garrard County Memorial Hospital and a member of Lancaster United Methodist Church. She was the widow of Earl Long and Robert Swope.
Survivors include a brother, Marvin Arnold of Danville; a stepson, Clyde Long of Lancaster; a stepdaughter, Margaret L. Ray of Stanford; and her caregiver, Virgie Long of Lancaster.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ramsey Funeral Home by the Revs. Don Hatton and Bob Coppings. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Walter Clay, Tommy Arnold, Mickey Arnold, Norman Oliver, Colby F. Arnold and Rex Speake.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. today.

Services for Mattie Josephine Parrish Cundiff, 87, formerly of Hodgenville, will be 2 p.m. today at Bennet-Bertran Funeral Home in Hodgenville by Bob Morris. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery.
She died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
She was the widow of Claude Cundiff, who had been mayor of Hodgenville.

Kenneth K. Heideman
HARRODSBURG -- Services for Kenneth K. Heideman, 84, of Oakland Lane will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home by the Rev. David Witten. Burial will be in Symco Cemetery.
He died Saturday at his home.
Born Oct. 12, 1919, in Symco, Wis., he was the son of the late Edward and Melba Klemm Heideman.
He earned a master's degree at University of Wisconsin.
He retired as a lieutenant commander after 24 years in the Navy.
He also was a stock broker for Paine Webber for 25 years, and a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Danville, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Marie H. "Marlene" Morrissey Heideman; three daughters, Lynn Schenk of Schaumburg, Ill., Jackie Speas of Fort Myers, Fla., and Candy Heideman of West Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Edward Heideman of Clintonville, Wis.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Wednesday.

LANCASTER -- Services for Davilene Carpenter Ledford, 62, of Crab Orchard were Sunday at Cartersville Holiness Church by the Revs. Bill Rose and Bruce Alcorn.

She died Thursday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 27, 1940, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late William D. and Lillie B. Lamb Carpenter. She was a retired employee of Cowden Manufacturing Co.
Survivors include a son, Tim Ledford of Crab Orchard; two daughters, Sandy Price of Crab Orchard and Kathy Willis of Richmond; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Herbie and Herbie Lovett Jr., Roy Sparks, Tim Ledford, Tony Stinnett and Paul Wiseman.

Mattie J. Cundiff
Mattie Josephine Parrish Cundiff, 87, of N. Third Street, died Friday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born June 27, 1915, in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late Styron and Annie Parish. She was a former mayor of Hodgenville and former owner/manager of Hodgenville Motel. She was a member of the Larue County Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School, and former member of the Homemakers Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mona L. Hale of Hustonville, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Myra June Cundiff.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bennet-Bertran Funeral Home in Hodgenville by Bob Morris. Burial will be in Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

CRAB ORCHARD -- Henry E. "Buck" Spoonamore, 70, of Main Street, Crab Orchard, died Saturday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born June 11, 1932, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late Ernest L. and Emma D. Wren Spoonamore. He was a retired custodian from Crab Orchard Elementary School, where he worked for 30 years. He was a member of Crab Orchard Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sisters, Elizabeth Leigh and Irene Brown, both of Crab Orchard, Ann Irvin of Lancaster, Evelyn Davis of Stanford, Lillian Spoonamore of Nicholasville and Phyllis French of Shelbyville; and one brother, Glenn Spoonamore of Stanford.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McKnight Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crab Orchard Cemetery.

Born Nov. 20, 1907, in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Hattie Masters Catlett. She was a homemaker and a member of Cornishville Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was the widow of Roy Chumley.
Survivors include a son, Connie Chumley of Harrodsburg; a daughter, Mary Cornish of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

CRAB ORCHARD -- Vadis Lawrence Hale, 94, of Walnut Street died Wednesday in Crab Orchard.
Born July 21, 1908, in Booneville, he was the son of the late Tilman H. and Emily F. Herd Hale. He was a farmer, attended the Church of God, and was the widower of Lora Price Hale.
Survivors include four sons, Charles, Paul and Kenneth Hale and Douglas Hendershot, all of Crab Orchard; a daughter, Barbara Turner of Booneville; two sisters, Nancy Halcomb of Indiana and Retha Hendershot of McKee; a brother, Dallas Hale of Georgia; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McKnight Funeral Home by Cecil Roundtree. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday.
