HARRODSBURG -- Services for Alvis Dexter "Dex" James, 32, of New Bedford, Mass., will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Little Zion Baptist Church by Phillip A. Yates.
Burial will be in Robinson Roe Cemetery in Burgin.
He died Sunday at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.
Born May 14, 1970, in Cambridge, Mass., he was the son of Jane White James of Burgin and Robert M. James of Virginia Beach, Va.
He was a graduate of University of Massachusetts with a degree in communications.
He was a star track athlete in high school and college and was a self-employed contractor working with residential and commercial building.
He was a model in the United States and abroad and a singer and entertainer who performed with several well-known musical artists.
He was a member of Zion Union Church in Hyannis, Mass.
Other survivors include four sons, Dexter, Darien, Dekaris and Diari James, all of Massachusetts; a sister, Aki-Tia James of Macon, Ga.; a brother, Mark James of Macon, Ga.; and his fianc/e, Kelli Giovanni of New Bedford, Mass.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. Saturday until the time of service at the church.

Corinna C. Balden
Corinna Minor Cook Balden, 76, of Lexington, formerly of Danville, died Tuesday.
Born July 5, 1926, in Danville, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Madge Isaacs Cook. She had been a librarian in Louisville, and in Danville at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), where she also was a member, Edna L. Toliver Elementary School and Boyle County Public Library.
She was a member of the Garden Club of Danville, Daughters of the American Revolution, and worked with Boyle County 4-H horticulture programs. She was instrumental in restoration of McDowell House and its gardens. She attended Virginia Intermont College and graduated form University of Kentucky with a degree in library science. She was the widow of William H. Balden Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Maude B. Adams of Lexington; two sisters, Margaret Davis of Moreland and Ellen Braselton of Oklahoma; and a grandson.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bellevue Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral home.
Memorials may go to charity.

Kathryn A. Carpenter
Kathryn Ashbrook Carpenter, 93, of Crosshill Drive died Wednesday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born July 16, 1909, in Harrison County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Dora Buzzard Ashbrook. She was a homemaker and the widow of Eldred Carpenter. She was a member of Junction City Christian Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Friday.

Nancy C. Privett
Nancy Pearl "Toddie" Coontz Privett, 47, of Carpenter Road, Hustonville, died Wednesday in Junction City at the home of her mother.
Born Nov. 13, 1955, in Junction City, she was the daughter of Dorothy E. "Lib" Turner Coontz and the late James L. "Luke" Coontz. She was a homemaker and a member of Green River Pentecostal Church.
Other survivors include her husband, Dale Privett; a daughter, Elizabeth "Sissy" Hall of Junction City; a brother, James "Bugger" Coontz of Junction City; and a grandchild.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Junction City Cemetery.

William Pryse
RICHMOND -- William "Tom" Pryse, 44, died Friday in Panama City, Fla.
Born in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Betty Lyen Pryse of Richmond and the late Henry Pryse. He was a retired Air Force computer technician.
Other survivors include a brother, Joe F. Pryse of Boston, Mass.; and a stepgrandmother, Doris Lyen.
Graveside services will be noon Saturday at Richmond Cemetery by the Rev. John Cavendish.
Visitation will be 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Oldham, Roberts and Powell Funeral Home.

James D. Hansford
CAMP NELSON -- James D. Hansford, 45, of Magnolia, Texas, formerly of Lincoln County, died March 26 in Texas.
He was the son of Frances L. Hansford of Houston, Texas, and the late Marshall Hansford. He was a 1975 graduate of Lincoln County High School and a graduate of Jan Jacinto College in Houston. He was an employee of PPI Technology Services. He was an Army veteran and a member of Stanford Baptist Church.
Other survivors include his wife, Debbie P. Hansford; a son, Michael Hansford of Houston; two daughters, Tyra Miracle of Lexington and Ashley Hansford of Houston; a sister, Sallie H. Cantu of Houston; a brother, Gabe L. Hansford of Houston; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Jessamine County.

LIBERTY -- Christina E. Phillips, 90, of Liberty died Monday at Liberty Care Center.
Born July 1, 1912, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Janie Goode Wethington. She was a homemaker and former owner of Village Restaurant. She also was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church and the widow of Demi Guy Phillips.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lee Wethington of Liberty and Joy Miller of Berea; a sister, Lee Etta Burton of Kettering, Ohio; a brother, Tom Wethington of Cincinnati; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services for Harry Clark Minteer, 92, of Old Bridge Road were Tuesday at Snyder-Chrisman Funeral Home in Worthington, Pa. Burial was in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery.
He died Friday at Danville Centre for Health and Rehabilitation.
Born Aug. 4, 1910, in Worthington, he was the son of the late James C. and Mary Jane Donaldson Minteer. He was a retired electrician, a member of Worthington Presbyterian Church, and the widower of Carolyn Showmaker Minteer.
Survivors include a son, James C. Minteer of Danville; a daughter, Dorothy Crawford of Shippenville, Pa.; a sister, Sara Morris of Hamburg, N.J.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dale V. Joslyn
Dale Vinson Joslyn, 71, of Elwood Drive died Sunday at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.
Born July 21, 1931, in Vigo County, Ind., he was the son of the late Fred V. and Louise Herzog Joslyn. He retired in 1990 as quality control supervisor for Whirlpool Corp. after 28 years of service. He also was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Leonette Freeman Joslyn; a son, Dale V. Joslyn II of Danville; a daughter, Denise H. Kelley of Canton, Mich.; a brother, Russell Loughe of Terre Haute, Ind.; four sisters, Betty Taylor of Rosedale, Ind., Virginia Vaughn of Parker, Ariz., Dorothy Crowder of Rockville, Ind., and Violet Nelson of Michigan; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

LIBERTY -- Lucille Foster, 93, of Ky. 70 West died Saturday at Fair Oaks nursing home in Jamestown.
Born Oct. 10, 1909, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late James and Janie Ross Wethington. She was a homemaker, a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, and the widow of Clyde Foster.
Survivors include seven daughters, Dot Clements and Joyce Traylor, both of Liberty, Jean Wethington and Janice Coffman, both of Louisville, Louise Lewis of Goshen, Ohio, Frances Smith of Campbellsville, and Verna Lewis of Somerset; a son, James Foster of Indianapolis, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Bernard Catholic Church by the Rev. Thomas Clark. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
