Charles W. Lee
Charles W. Lee, 68, of Gidget Trail in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Sunday, March 30, 2003, at Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville, after an illness.
Son of the late Henry and Ethel Lee of Campbellsville, he was a disabled farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Mardis Lee of Campbellsville; two daughters, Erica Lee of Campbellsville and Lisa Webb of Louisville; one grandson, Matthew Hubbard; one brother, Lerman DeSpain of Sandwich, Ill.; and one sister, Nina Evans of Houston, Texas.
The funeral service was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Ray Judd officiated.
Pallbearers were Matthew Hubbard, Don Webb, Anthony Sluder, Glen Evans, Junior Evans and John Chesser.
Collins Bryant
Collins Bryant, 90, Jamestown, Ky., formerly of Adair County, Ky., died Friday May 30, 2003, at Fair Oaks Health Care in Jamestown.
She was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Ella Bryant Collins, was a member of Shiloh Christian Church and a homemaker.
She was married
to Marvin Thomas "Red" Bryant, who preceded her in death on April 5, 1976.
Survivors include one daughter, Imogene Bryant of Columbia, one son, William O. Bryant and his wife Ruth Ann of Memphis, Tenn.; two sisters, Maxine Bryant of Columbia, and Letha Sullivan of Indiana; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial was in Freedom Cemetery. Bro. Garnett Hammond officiated.
Pallbearers were Patrick Bryant, Paul Bryant, Michael Bryant, Kevin
Bryant, Nicholas Dixon and Louis Reeves.
Charles Marcum
Charles Phillip Marcum, 76, of Texas, formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, in El Cajon, Texas after an illness.
Marcum was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Marcum; one daughter, Phyllis Rogers of Lexington, Texas; one step-daughter, Sue Cox of El Cajon, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Durham of Greenville, Ind., and Barbara Folkerson of Floyds Knob, Ind.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday May 31 at El Cajon Mortuary. Burial was in Mount El Cajon Cemetery.
Otha Blevins
Otha Blevins, 75, of Hunters Run in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Saturday, June 7, 2003, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late William Thomas Blevins and Anna Mary Hunt Blevins, he was born on Aug. 26, 1927 in Taylor County, Ky., and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
Blevins was a land developer and former owner of Blevins Construction.
He was married
to Pearl Edelen on May 22, 1948. She survives.
Other survivors include three children and their spouses, Cathy and John B. Allen, Barry and Jane Blevins and Lee Anna and Randal Rafferty, all of Campbellsville; six grandchildren, Jenny Allen of Key Largo, Fla., Ryan Allen and his wife Jodi, Leslie Blevins, Paul Blevins, Meagan Rafferty and Matthew Rafferty, all of Campbellsville; two step-grandchildren, Kevin Rafferty and Angie Wise and her husband Brad, all of Campbellsville; one great-granddaughter, Catherine Allen of Campbellsville; two step-great-grandchildren, Justine Wise and Connor Wise, both of Campbellsville; two brothers and three sisters, Ivan Blevins, Neva Morris and Delora Ford, all of Campbellsville, Haskell Blevins of Lake Placid, Fla., and Ina Tucker of New Albany, Ind.
He was also preceded in death by four siblings, Thomas Blevins, William L. Blevins, Cecil Blevins and Vada Thomas.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery.
The Rev. Fred Miller and the Rev. Ed Williams officiated.
Pallbearers were Ryan Allen, Jerry Blevins, Paul Blevins, Byron Ford, Matthew Rafferty, Tom Thomas and Danny Tucker.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class at Friendship Baptist Church, Eddie Munday, Randall Cox, Bobby Morris and Eddie Krug.
Ben W. Black
Ben W. Black, 89, of Lexington, Ky. died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at his home.
Son of the late Dr. Ben Black and Callie Gaines Black, he was born on Sept. 1, 1913 in Campbellsville, Ky.
Black was a retired assistant professor of English and former assistant dean in the University of Kentucky College of Arts and Sciences.
He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of the Shakespeare Association of America, Renaissance Society of America, Modern Language Association and Kentucky Council on Teachers of English.
He is survived by his wife, Agnes Lucas Black.
W.R. Milward Mortuary in Lexington was in charge of arrangements.
Joyce Yancey Malone
Joyce Yancey Malone, 61, of North Palm Beach, Fla., died on Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Hospice of Palm Beach after a long illness.
Daughter of the late Robert L. and Marie Zirk Yancey, Malone was born on July 7, 1941, in Harrisonburg, Va.
She was a graduate of Broadway High School in Lacey Springs, Va., and was a medical transcriber for Alexandria Orthopedic Associates until her retirement.
She was married
to Robert B. Malone on Jan. 2, 1981. He survives.
Malone was a member of the Palm Beach Power and Sail Squadron, North Palm Beach Yacht Club and the Northern Virginia Power and Sail Squadron.
Other survivors include her twin brother and two sisters-in-law, Joe C. and Charlotte Yancey of Dayton, Va., and Ann Taylor of Newport News, Va.; one brother-in-law, Jack P. Malone of Silver Spring, Md.; her stepchildren, Nancy Wills, Bill Malone and Robert Malone Jr. and their children and grandchildren of Northern Virginia; and two nieces, Rebecca Dial of Campbellsville and Linda McCormick of Harrisonburg, Va.
Besides her parents, Malone was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward C. Yancey and Bobby Yancey.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Lois Whitlock
Lois Cozetta Whitlock, 67, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Green County, Ky., died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
Survivors include eight children, Michael Young of Greensburg, Jerry Young of Russell County, Gobel Edward Young of Summersville, Anthony Reed Young of Louisville, Carol Woosley of Louisville, Jessie Anderson Whitlock of Campbellsville, Amy May Gadberry of Liberty, and Helen Marie Hardin of Shepherdsville; two sisters and one brother, Helen Thompson of Green County, Latoka Wilson of Edmonton, and Janeel Warf of Green County; 19 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg was in charge of arrangements.
