Estelle Tucker
Estelle Akin Tucker, 90, of Green County, Ky. died Friday, June 6, 2003, at Norton-Suburban Hospital in Louisville.
Daughter of the late Ode Neagle and Nora Houk Neagle, she was born on June 22, 1912 in Green County, Ky. and was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
She was married
to Leslie Akin, who preceded her in death on April 8, 1980. She was later married
to Frank Tucker, who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include six children, Sarah Newcomb of Sellersburg, Ind., Maedell Shirley of Greensburg, Herman Akin of Willisburg, Buford Akin of Greensburg, Wallace Akin of Greensburg, and Martha Jane Robinson of Louisville; one brother and two sisters, Garnett Neagle of Hodgenville, Rachel Hazel of Greensburg, and Arlene Miller of Metcalfe County, Ky.; one half-sister, Jane Woodrum of Louisville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by six children, Gordon Wayne Akin, Alton Akin, Dalton Akin, William Doyle Akin, Norma Jean VanMeter and Roy Akin; and two step-children, Floyd Tucker and Glen Tucker.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Monday, June 9 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Akin Cemetery. The Rev. James Hagan officiated.
Pallbearers were Steve Akin, Danny Akin, Tony Akin, Kevin Akin, Doug Beard, Ricky Newcomb and Jason Beard.
Honorary pallbearers were Russell Wright, Theodore Akin, Ivin Judd, J.B. Montgomery, Junior Milby, John David Martin, Leon Reynolds and Randy Milby.
Kenneth Hartwell "Kenny" Smith Sr.
Kenneth Hartwell "Kenny" Smith Sr., 65, of Smith Ridge Road, Campbellsville, Ky., died Tuesday, June 3, 2003.
Son of Pearline Ford Smith and the late Robert L. "Pug" Smith, he was born on March 19, 1938 in Taylor County, Ky. and was a member of Robinson Creek Baptist Church.
Smith was owner and operator of Smith Sport Shop for 30 years.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter and their spouses, Kenneth "Ken" Jr. and Reena Smith of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Allen and Donna Smith of Mt. Washington, and Cyndi L. and Ed Cheatham of Campbellsville; eight grandchildren, Kenneth "Chipper" Smith III and Caitlyn Smith of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Amanda Ginter of Louisville, Ashton Smith and Maggie Smith of Mt. Washington, and Cody Baxter, Kathleen Cheatham and Olivia Cheatham of Campbellsville; his mother Pearline Smith of Campbellsville; and one brother and two sisters and their spouses, Lenuel A. and Bonnie Smith of Fairplay, Carolyn and Rhea Larimore of Louisville, and Marilyn and Mike Smith of Campbellsville.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. Friday, June 6 at Robinson Creek Baptist Church in Campbellsville. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Steve James officiated.
Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Jim Durham, Walter Ray Kessler, Tommy Miller, Ricky Rawlings, Tim Smith, Kevin Sneed and Donald Speer.
Earl Gene Conover
Earl Gene Conover, 67, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Columbia, Ky., died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Memorial Hospital in Peyton, Colo.
He was the son of the late Thurston Oliver Conover and Nina Buster Conover of Columbia, who survives.
Conover retired in 1972 at Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, was a former Mason and Shriner.
Besides his mother, Conover is survived by one daughter, Tina Carr of Peyton, Colo., three half-brothers, Harold "Dick" Scholl of Columbia, Alvin "Glen" Scholl of Greenfield, Ind., and Phillip Collins of Columbia; one sister, Helen B. Curry of Columbus, Ind.; two grandchildren, Ceana Jaramillo of Germany, and Brittany Bradley of Peyton, Colo.; and one great-granddaughter.
He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Harold Scholl; one brother, Edwin Conover; and one half-brother, Orville Scholl.
Funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday June 5 at Myers Funeral Service in Columbus, Ind. Burial was in Garland Brook Cemetery. David R. Burnett officiated.
Memorial should be the American Heart Association.
Virginia Lee "Virgio" Roberts Lewis
Virginia Lee "Virgie" Roberts Lewis, 86, of Cecilia, Ky. died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.
Daughter of the late Martin Preston Roberts and Sarah Elizabeth Crum Roberts, she was born in Floyd County, Ky. and was a member of Sand Hill Church of Christ in South Shore and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Edward W. Lewis of Cecilia; one son, Congressman Ron Lewis of Cecilia; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Shirlene Lewis Hannah in 1997.
Funeral was Friday, June 6 at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, Ky.
Elitha S. Feese
Elitha S. Feese, 80, Columbia, Ky., died Thursday May 29, 2003, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia.
She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Hallie Burton Sinclair and was a member of Plum Point Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was married
to Joseph Estill Feese, who preceded her in death on June 19, 1957.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Ann Feese of Knoxville, Tenn., Dicky and Mary Lou Fesse of Edmonton, Ky., Danny and Tammy Feese and Joe and Margaret Feese, all of Columbia; seven daughters, and their spouses, Brenda Feese of Louisville, Jo Ann and Lewis Curry of Columbia, Sue Feese of Columbia, Alice and Wayne Burton of Columbia, Fay and Donnie Garrett of Edmonton, Ky., Connie and James Edmonds of Columbia, and Debbie and Craig Martin of Louisville; one sister, Ida Fuqua of Louisville; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday May 31 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial was in Haven Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Cliff Burris and the Rev. Lewis Haynes officiated.
Pallbearers were Doug Pike, Lynn Feese, Kenny Perkins, Chris Coffey, Johnny Pike and Joey Feese.
Honorary pallbearers were Dan Burton, David Garrett, Joshua Bean and Tim Burton.
Nellie Catherine Wagoner
Nellie Catherine Wagoner, 86, of Reids Chapel Road, Campbellsville, Ky., died Saturday May 17, 2003, at Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg, Ky. after an illness.
She was the daughter of the late Roy and Bertha Williams White of Taylor County, Ky., was a retired homemaker and a member of Elkhorn Methodist Church.
She was married
to Walter Wagoner, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons and three daughters and their spouses, Charles and Judy Wagoner, Carl Lewis and Dora Wagoner, Nellie and Charles Russell Cox, Margaret and Tommy Murphy, all of Campbellsville, and Allene and Charles Chelf of Mount Sherman; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and two step-great-grandchildren.
Seven brothers and two sisters, Wilbur, Ray, Coakley, Winfrey,
Jesse, Ralph and Clemmie White, Flora Williams and Lucy Geneva Peppers also preceded her in death.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. Monday May 19 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Elkhorn Cemetery. Bro. Larry Harrah and Bro. Clinton Hale officiated.
Pallbearers were Charles Shannon Chelf, Gary Cox, Larry Cox, David Redmon, Ryan Cox and Kenny Neal.
