Joyce Shirrell
Joyce Shirrell, 80, of Frankfort, Ky., died on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at her home.
Daughter of the late Lloyd and Margaret Lutz Babcock, she was born on June 25, 1923 in Odebolt, Iowa, and was a member of First Christian Church in Frankfort.
Shirrell was a member of Frankfort Woman's Club, the Frankfort Garden Club, the Silent Workers Circle of the King's Daughters and the Community Council.
She was married
to Dr. Len "Spillman" Shirrell, who survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Peggy Miller of Tallahassee, Fla., and Judy Jordan of Brandon, Fla.; one son, Jack Shirrell of Chicago, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 at First Christian Church in Frankfort. Dr. John Chenault and Dr. Gary Straub officiated.
Graveside service was at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 at Bethlehem Cemetery in Green County, Ky.
Pallbearers were Charlie Clark, Denis King, Don Howard, Burnett Napier, Charles Hinds and Rick Miller.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or the First Christian Church Building Fund.
Leslie M. Turner
Leslie M. Turner, 76, of Lyle Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003, at Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness.
He was the son of the late Manville and Betty Russell Turner of Taylor County, Ky.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Absher Turner of Campbellsville; one son and daughter-in-law, Keenan and Pam Turner of Somerset, Ky.; three daughters and one son-in-law, Gwynette and Ronnie Sullivan of Campbellsville, Carla Brockman of Louisville, Ky., and Bonnie Absher Rodgers of Portland; one brother, Bobby Turner of Campbellsville; one sister, Madeline Caffee of Elizabethtown; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 17 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Bethel Presbyterian Cemetery. The Rev. Jim Murphy officiated.
Pallbearers were Rufus Hansford, Tom Caldwell, Buck Hall, Everett
Wilson, Nolan Gilpin Jr. and Richard Corbin.
Honorary pallbearers were Carl Hall, Tilford Brim, Mike Hall, Joe Harris, Bill Dishman, Mike Finn, elders of his church, Janet Walker, Regina Anderson and Connie Patterson.
Robert L. Wade
Robert L. Wade, 71, of Campbellsville, Ky., died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003 in Campbellsville.
Son of the late John Andrew Wade and Bessie Lee Gribbins Wade, he was born on Jan. 8, 1932 in Taylor County, Ky. and worked as a farmer.
Survivors include two sisters and one brother, Anne Sutty, Shirley
Blankenship and Joseph Richard "Rufus" Wade and wife, Maureen, all of Campbellsville.
Two brothers, James Ernest Wade and William H. Wade also preceded him in death.
The body was cremated. Services were private.
Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.
Ray Knifley
Ray Knifley, 92, of Gowdy Street in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late W.R. Knifley and Lena Williams Knifley, he was born on Dec. 31, 1910 in Adair County, Ky., and was a member of Campbellsville Christian Church.
He was married
to Edna Campbell in 1932. She preceded him in death on
Nov. 20, 1997.
Survivors include one daughter and one son, Julia L. Knifley of Campbellsville and W.R. Knifley of Smiths Grove, Ky.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Greg and Joy Knifley of Hamilton, Ohio, and Ella and Kevin Christensen of Arapahoe, Neb.; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Knifley of Hamilton, Ohio, and Haley Christensen, Lily Christensen and Chloe Christensen, all of Arapahoe, Neb.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Buford Knifley.
Funeral was at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Joe Hatchett officiated.
Pallbearers were George Crabtree, Mike Hunt, Ewing Knifley, Leroy Knifley, Charles Estes McKinley and Gene Newcomb.
Leon Phillips
Leon Phillips, 61, of Green County, Ky., died on Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Son of the late O.L. "Lee" Phillips and Johnnie White Phillips, he was born on Feb. 4, 1942 in Green County, and was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church and a farmer.
He was married
to Shelia Shirley on May 13, 1966. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan and John Yarberry of Franklin, Tenn., and Tracy Phillips of Nashville, Tenn.; one sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Royce Clark of Greensburg; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Dorothy Shirley of Greensburg; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobbie and Madelle Shirley, Fay and Bobby Blakeman and Willard Clark, all of Greensburg.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Clark.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23 at Cowherd & Parrott
Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Greensburg Cemetery. Bro. Charlie Houk officiated.
Pallbearers were Phillip Clark, David McKinney, Faron Blakeman, Kenny Morgan, David McKinney, Jeff Durham, Mike McKinney and Malcolm Kessler.
Honorary pallbearers were Sam McKinney, Sam Underwood, Brent Curry, Royce Clark, Dwight Sandidge, Bobby Blakeman, Willard Clark, Maxie Houk and Boyd Thomas Curry.
Hortense Watson
Hortense Finn Watson, 92, of South Central Avenue in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, in Campbellsville.
Daughter of the late Walter E. Finn and Eula Mae Bell Finn, she was born on June 5, 1911 in Taylor County, Ky., and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was married
to Thurman Watson on April 6, 1928. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1992.
Survivors include two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Dan and Brenda Watson, Finn and Betty Watson and Frances and Dennis Morris, all of Campbellsville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by one son, Douglas Watson on July 24, 2001; three brothers and three sisters, Hogard Finn, Edwin Finn, Maurice Finn, Annie Froess, Martha Barkley and Helen Capps.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were David Morris, John Morris, Carl Watson, Jeff Watson, Michael Watson, Norman Watson and Ricky Watson.
