Virginia Judd
Virginia Stilts Judd, 80, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville.
Daughter of the late Emmitt Stilts and Mandy Ellen Lobb Stilts, she was born on May 7, 1922 in Green County, Ky., and was a member of South Summersville Baptist Church.
Judd was a former machine operator for Fruit of the Loom.
She was married
to William Alfred "Dick" Judd on Nov. 20, 1937. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1981.
Survivors include two sons, James A. Judd of Greensburg and Stephen Udell Judd of Bedford, Ky.; two daughters, Danity Lou Clark of Louisville and Ermidean Walters of Campbellsville; two sisters, Lenov Judd of Campbellsville and Stella Curry of Greensburg; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Ellen Judd in 1943; four sisters, Eva Cory, Mary Judd, Letha Akin and Myrtle Dangerfield; and one brother, John Stilts.
Funeral was at 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 22 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Green County Memory Gardens. The Rev. Ivan Jones, the Rev. Eudell Stilts and the Rev. Irvin Milby Jr. officiated.
Pallbearers were Mike Clark, DeWayne Judd, Wayne Akin, Tony Judd, Harold Stepp and Howard Dobson Jr.
David Spurling
David Spurling, 28, of East Walnut Street in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, in Campbellsville.
Son of Karen Cox Spurling of Campbellsville and the late Eddie Spurling, he was born on April 29, 1974 in Green County, Ky.
Spurling was an employee of Campbellsville Enhanced 911 Center and a volunteer firefighter for the Campbellsville-Taylor County Fire Departments.
Besides his mother, Spurling is survived by one brother and one sister, Jeremy Spurling and Kayla Spurling of Campbellsville; and his grandmother, Gracie Spurling of Campbellsville.
Funeral was at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 1 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery.
The Rev. Ron Dooley and the Rev. Ernie Carmicle officiated.
Pallbearers were Scott Chelf, Mark Coker, Adam Dobson, Jimmy Gaddie, John Jessie and Randy McFall.
Honorary pallbearers were Campbellsville Enhanced 911 Center employees, Campbellsville-Taylor County Fire Departments, Campbellsville-Taylor County Rescue, Campbellsville Police Department, Taylor County Sheriff's Office and Kentucky State Police.
Kathryn Phillips Shuffet
Kathryn Phillips Shuffett, 74, of Chestnut Street in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Elizabethtown.
Daughter of the late Robert W. Edwards and Christine Edrington Edwards, she was born on Oct. 15, 1928 in Taylor County, Ky., and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
Shuffett worked as a Taylor County Deputy Court Clerk and was a retired employee of Taylor County Rural Electric Corp. She was currently working as a bus monitor with Taylor County School System.
She was married
to Anderson Desha Phillips, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son and three daughters, Robert Desha Phillips of Minnesota and Connie Phillips Houk, Nora Christine Shuffett and Mary Kathryn Steward, all of Campbellsville; eight grandchildren, Robert Jason Houk and Jacob Desha Houk, both of Indiana, Jeremy Wayne Houk, Joshua David Houk, Amber Jade Shuffett and William Dalton Steward, all of Campbellsville, and Zachary Desha Phillips and Travis Collin Phillips, both of Minnesota; three great-grandchildren, Nicholette Angeline Houk and Quenton Jason Houk, both of Indiana, and Joshua Wyatt Houk of Campbellsville; and one sister, Georgia Rodgers of Atlanta, Ga.
She was also preceded in death by one brother and sister, Jim R. Edwards and Mildred Neblett.
Memorial service was at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville, by Dr. J. Chester Badgett. The body was cremated.
Elizabeth Mitchell
Elizabeth I. Mitchell, 88, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Daughter of the late F. Patrick Dennison and Winifred E. West, she was born on Dec. 15, 1914 in New Brunswick, Canada, and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 47 years.
Mitchell attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill. A homemaker, she was also a Red Cross bloodmobile worker and had worked for the Adult Literacy Program.
She was married
to Haywood A. Mitchell on Sept. 12, 1945. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1979.
Funeral was at 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 20 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Greensburg Cemetery. The Rev. Ferrell Gardner officiated.
Pallbearers were Danny Hawes, Cliff Cook, Forrest Kelly, Clay Kelly, Jerry Collings, Ray Acree, Tony Jewell and Allen Dudgeon.

Shirley McCubbin
Shirley Ann McCubbin, 63, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville.
Daughter of the late Woody McCubbin and Mattie Price McCubbin, she was born on March 28, 1939 in Green County, Ky.
McCubbin was a member of Allendale Missionary Baptist Church and a former machine operator at Fruit of the Loom.
She was married
to Tom McCubbin on Nov. 19, 1960. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Angela McCubbin and Jennifer McCubbin, both of Greensburg; and one sister, Elsie Osborne of Greensburg.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Elda Milby and Sybil Milby.
Funeral was at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Green County Memory Gardens. The Rev. Dwayne Dobson officiated.
Pallbearers were Leroy Shelton, Tom Downey, Junior Milby, Rhuel Bishop, Jimmy Berry and Mitchell Milby.
Richard Paul Bennett
Richard Paul Bennett, 78, of Coburg, Ky., died on Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, after a short illness with cancer
Son of the late Joe Henry and Audrey Farris Bennett, he was a retired employee of pump maintenance and servicing equipment for Shell Oil Company and later with Ball Brothers Oil Company.
Bennett was a farmer and a member of Cane Valley Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Sublett Bennett of Coburg; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Laveda and Max Taylor of Cane Valley, and Lois Banks and Jeanette and Billy Ray Page, all of Columbia; nine nieces and nephews; 14 great-nieces and nephews; and seven brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
He was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Winfrey Banks.
Funeral was at noon, Thursday, Dec. 19 at Grissom Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial was in Cane Valley Cemetery. Bro. Paul Patton and Bro. Scott Osborn officiated.
Pallbearers were Richard Banks, Randall Banks, Joseph Page, James Turner, Clifton Taylor and Kenny Taylor.
Honorary pallbearers were Clifford Page, Jerry Watson, Joe Rogers, Gene Knifley, Charles Shirley and Albert L. Woodrum.
