Donald Wurmser
Donald Wurmser, 64, of Campbellsville, Ky., formerly of Louisville, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late Ted Wurmser and Ruth Feather Wurmser, he was born on Jan. 20, 1938 in Jefferson County, Ky.
Wurmser was a retired heavy equipment operator with Jefferson County Government.
He was married
to Judy Skaggs on June 4, 1977, who survives.
Other survivors include, one daughter, Ruthie Wurmser of Brandenburg; two granddaughters, Heather Marie Jones and Katie Beth Bennett of Brandenburg; and two great-grandchildren, Arien Bennett and Byron Bennett of Brandenburg.
The body was cremated and a private memorial service was held.
Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.
Carl Shofner
Carl Shofner, 81, of Campbellsville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late Thomas Shofner and Rosie Hutcherson Shofner, he was born on Feb. 28, 1921 in Taylor County, Ky., and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church.
Shofner was a retired furniture maker and a farmer.
He was married
to Ethel Skaggs on July 3, 1943. She preceded him in death on May 11, 1996.
Survivors include one son and one daughter and their spouses, Randall and Donna Shofner of Campbellsville and Carolyn and Darryl White of Silver Spring, Md.; and five grandchildren, Jonathan White, Julian White and Ryan White, all of Silver Spring, Md., and Ben Smith and Bryan Smith, both of Campbellsville.
He was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters, Sherman Shofner, Nellie Hedgespeth, Lorena Wright and Mae Matherly.
Funeral was at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 3 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Larry Koch, the Rev. Brian Purvis, the Rev. Gary Durham and the Rev. Dave Walters.
Pallbearers were Sam Garrison, Daryl Harmon, Junior Milby, Verlas Miller, Richard Page and Chuck Underwood.
Cora Whitley
Cora Whitley, 91, of Glasgow, Ky., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died Friday on Jan. 3, 2003, in Glasgow.
Daughter of the late Samuel Frank Murphy and Mildred Wethington Murphy, she was born on June 9, 1911, and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church.
She was married
to the Rev. Wilbur C. Whitley on Dec. 16, 1934, who preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 1985.
Survivors include one daughter and one son and their spouses, Joyce and Billy Hendrick of Louisville, and Rodger and Shirley Whitley of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Vickie Scholl of Jeffersonville, Ind., Timmy Hendrick of Louisville, Scotty Hendrick of Atlanta, Connie Reader of Glasgow, and Marcus Whitley of Nashville; seven great-grandchildren, Jeremy Scholl and Elizabeth Scholl of Indiana, Jacob Nunn, Nicholas Reader and Christopher Reader of Glasgow, and Brooke Hendrick and Bryan Hendrick of Louisville; and two sisters, Lucille Whited and Beulah Woodrum of Indiana.
Four brothers and two sisters, Owen Virgil Murphy, Joseph Roy Murphy, Coy Murphy, Murl Murphy, Mary A. Murphy and Mae Malone also preceded her in death.
Funeral was at 3 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Bob Cooper and the Rev. Homer Whited officiated.
Pallbearers were David Bohanon, Scotty Hendrick, Timmy Hendrick, Jacob Nunn, Christopher Reader, Nicholas Reader, Jack Whitley and Mark Whitley.
Marie Scott
Marie Scott, 87, of Bowling Green, Ky., died on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Britthaven Nursing Home in Bowling Green.
Daughter of the late Charlie Scott and Hattie Mae Cantrell Scott, she was born on Oct. 3, 1915 in Green County, KY.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom.
Scott is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ida Lee Thompson; and five brothers, Harlan Scott, Dave Scott, Homer Scott, Robert Scott and Coy Scott.
Graveside service was at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 11 at Green County Memory Gardens. The Rev. Irvin Milby officiated.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family fund and can be made at the funeral home.
Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg was in charge of arrangements.
Pauline Rucker
Pauline Rucker, 82, of Rosedale Avenue in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville, after an illness.
Daughter of the late G.I. Rucker and Rena Sublett Rucker of Taylor County, she was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
Rucker was an Avon representative for many years.
Survivors include one sister, Emogene Perkins of Greensburg; one niece and one nephew, Lorrie Spachman and Jerry Perkins; and a special friend, Marjorie Cave of Campbellsville.
She was also preceded in death by one sister and one brother, Louise Rucker and Junior Rucker.
Funeral was at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Bro. Wayne Brooks officiated.
Pallbearers were Harold Wilkerson, Leroy Joyce, Eddie Rodgers, John Cable, Charlie Richardson and Billy Holcombe.
Robert Thomas Campbell
Robert Thomas "Tommy" Campbell, 68, of Columbia, Ky., died on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia.
Son of the late Ovie and Bessie Bragg Campbell, he worked in logging and trucking.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Gadberry Campbell of Columbia; one daughter, Janice Campbell Overstreet of Columbia; one son, Michael Dean Campbell of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; one sister, Frieda Jean Lewis of Pafftown, N.C.; three grandchildren, Brittany Kelley of Columbia, and Fox Michael Campbell and Dakota Dean Campbell, both of Fort Wayne, Ind..
He was also preceded in death by one infant daughter, Linda Gail Campbell in October 1970; and three brothers, Harry Marshall Campbell, John Harron Campbell and Tilford Campbell.
Funeral was at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 10, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial was in McClister Cemetery. The Rev. Stanley Watson officiated.
Pallbearers were Phillip Campbell, Galen Campbell, Stevie Campbell, Ricky Gadberry, Stevie Gadberry and David Campbell.
