Floyd T. Hensley Jr., 78

Floyd T. Hensley Jr., 78, of Old Lebanon Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Son of the late Floyd T. Hensley Sr. and Grace Dilley Hensley, he was born May 22, 1925 in Hart County, Ky., and was a member of Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He served as both an elder and a Sunday School teacher at the church.

He was moderator of the General Assembly of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church from June 1991 to June 1992. He was a former vice president and chair of the board at Taylor County Bank.

He was a 50-year member of the Rio Verde Masonic Lodge No. 698 F & A.M. in Canmer, Ky., and a 50-year member of Campbellsville Lions Club. He was a charter member of Taylor Regional Hospital's board of directors and had served on the board of trustees at Bethel College. He was a member of the Denominational Board of Finance and a former agriculture teacher at Taylor County High School. He was a member of the Soil Conservation Board and was active in fund-raising for the Boy Scouts of America.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Army.

He was married to Alta Adams Hensley on Sept. 10, 1947. She survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one brother, two sisters and their spouses, Eldon and Gloria Hensley of Horse Cave, Ky., Rowena and Roy Hines of Nashville, Tenn., and Grace and Bob Counts of Englewood, Fla.

Funeral services are at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15 at the Parrot & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Revs. Ron Ferree, Wayne Brooks and Joe Jones will officiate.

Burial will be in Horse Cave Cemetery.

Pallbearers are William Bault, Ken Bean, Sam Hayes Jr., Morris Horn, Jim Miller Jr., Russell Montgomery, Hugh Moss, Bill Vaughn, Jack Whitley and Murrell Young.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Mary Imogene Gabehart, 93

Mary Imogene Gabehart, 93, of Flat Rock, Mich., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, in Michigan.

Daughter of the late Robert Vaughan and Jane Lyons Vaughan, she was born on July 5, 1910 in Taylor County, Ky.

She had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Flat Rock since 1946.

Gabehart retired in 1975 as a teacher in the Flat Rock Public School System.

She was married to Ira Homer Gabehart on Dec. 17, 1937. He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1981.

Gabehart is survived by one son, one daughter and their spouses, Herbert and Elizabeth Gabehart of Ida, Mich., and Donna and Robert Burk of Lake of the Ozark, Mo.; three grandchildren, William Gabehart of New Jersey, Meg Gabehart of North Carolina and Wendy Roberts and her husband Will of Saline, Mich.; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Eugene Gabehart in 1972; one grandson, Paul Robert Burk in 1999; one brother and one sister, Robert Vaughan and Pearl Murrah.

Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Green River Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Gary Durham will officiate.

The family requests expression of sympathy take the form of donations to First United Methodist Church of Flat Rock, Mich.

Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home of Campbellsville is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Byrd Sullivan, 86

Elizabeth Byrd Sullivan, 86, of New Lebanon Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, in Shelbyville, Ky.

Daughter of the late Arch L. Paxton and Mattie Blakeman Paxton, she was born on Dec. 4, 1917 in Green County, Ky., and was a member of Palestine Baptist Church.

She was married to Isaac W. "Ike" Sullivan on July 23, 1938. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1997.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Vivian Sullivan of Mt. Washington, Ky., Keith and Tamara Sullivan of Liberty, Ky., and Randall and Cheryl Sullivan of Campbellsville, Ky.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Jack Campbell of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Ruth Ann and Max Heath of Shelbyville; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Norman Wayne Paxton of Greensburg, Ky.; and one sister, Ada Mae Wilcoxson of Greensburg.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Coleman Paxton and Leon Paxton.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at Parrott & Ramsey, with the Rev. Jessie Baxter and the Rev. Mark Harrison officiating.

Burial will be in Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Eric Campbell, Shannon Campbell, Jason Heath, James Sullivan, Josh Sullivan, Russell Sullivan and Will Sullivan.

Marvin Beauchamp, 84

Marvin Beauchamp, 84, of Green County, Ky., died on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, Ky.

Son of the late Harvey and Maggie Warren Beauchamp, he was born on Friday, March 28, 1919, in Green County. A member of Liberty Missionary Baptist Church, he was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Wyladean Thompson, whom he married on Jan. 24, 1942.

He is also survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Alma Jean and Ivan Warren of Shepherdsville, Ky., Judell and Jim Wright of Greensburg and Rita and Denny Hedgespeth of Campbellsville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Sharon Beauchamp and Harvey Wayne and Barbara Beauchamp, all of Greensburg; a sister, Ella Kurgier of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren; and a special brother-in-law, Ezra Sweeney of Greensburg.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Deanna Gay Wright and Angela Denise Warren; three sisters, Gertie Mae Graham, Ethel Milby and Edith Sweeny; and four brothers, Johnny Beauchamp, Grady Beauchamp, Ira Beauchamp and Arvin Beauchamp.

Funeral is Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 2 p.m. at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home. Burial is in Green County Memorial Gardens. The Revs. Allen Durrett and Danny Nelson will officiate.

Pallbearers are Ricky Warren, Kris Clark, Travis Wright, Junior Wright, Eric Beauchamp and Jackie Pierce.

Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Wright, Justin Milby, Bill Wright, Gary Vaughn, Chester Valentine and Jason Vaughn.

Norma Rae Matherly, 72

Norma Rae Matherly, 72, of Frankfort, Ky., died on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, at her home after an illness.

Daughter of Clara Goode Cochran and the late Walter Cochran, she was a member of Central Baptist Church.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Norman Matherly; her children, Roy Rigney and Ken Rigney, both of Indiana, Jerry Rigney of Frankfort, Ky., James Rigney of Elizabethtown, Ky., Patrica Ruley of Ratcliffe, Ky., and Patti Covey of Moses Lake, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two brothers and one sister, James Cochran and Walter Cochran, both of Lebanon, Ky., and Carol Noran of San Francisco, Calif.

Funeral was at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, at the Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Taylors Chapel Cemetery.

The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Hospice of the Bluegrass at 208 Steele Street, Frankfort, Ky. 40601-2744.

Pallbearers were Michael Matherly, Mac McKee, Brian Purvis, Michael Rigney, Justin Cochran and Jeremy Rigney.

Honorary pallbearers were Frank Dile, Bobby Matherly, Kerry Cranens, Tommy Masterson, Jimmy Webster and Tony McKee.
