Naomi Warnig, 83
Naomi Nell Oaks Pierce Warnig, 83, of Greensburg died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004 at the Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Daughter of the late John D. Oaks and Maggie Shelton Oaks, she was born on Jan. 21, 1921.
Warnig was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and had worked at Fruit of the Loom until the time of her retirement.
She married
Delbert Clayton Pierce in July 1939. He preceded her in death on Dec. 5, 1980. She later married
George Warnig in August 1984. He preceded her in death in July 1994.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Pearldean and Phillip C. Jeffries and Sharon and Daryl Davis, all of Greensburg; two son and daughters-in-law, Lanny and Gail Pierce and Daryl and Julie Pierce, all of Greensburg; a sister, Beulah Howard of Greensburg; seven grandchildren, Anita White, Glen Judd, Mike Pickett, Erika Davis and Brian Pierce, all of Greensburg, Monica Horton of Campbellsville and Jessica Pierce of Louisiana; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Eunice Meadows, Ida Lile and Edna Bagby; and a brother, Clarence Oaks.
Funeral was Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2004 at 1 p.m. at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Green County Memory Gardens. Dr. Gary Ervin officiated.
Pallbearers were Adam Howard, Randall Bagby, Terry Lile, Archie Akin, Dale Meadows, Steve Stearman, Billy Howard and Ricky Edmonds.
Honorary pallbearers were George Howard, Kenneth Bagby, Billy Lile, Larry Moran, Robert Meadows, Ronnie Moran and Howard Bagby.
Victoria Simone Cowherd, 41
Victoria Simone Cowherd, 41, of Campbellsville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004.
Daughter of George Paige and Marion Owens, she was born on April 5, 1962 in Campbellsville and was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was married
to Emmitt Lee Cowherd, who survives.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is survived by four daughters, Kimberly Johnson, Nicole Paige, Stephanie Cowherd and Ontionia Paige; one son, Damon Paige; two sisters, Genise Owens of Cleveland, Ohio, and Whitney Paige of Campbellsville; six brothers, Brian Owens of Cleveland, Ohio, Neil Paige, Michael Paige, Robert Hall, Darrell Hall and Travis Paige, all of Campbellsville; four grandchildren; and three aunts, Aarena Frazier, Bettie Jackson and Jacqueline Frazier, all of Nashville, Tenn.
Funeral was on Saturday, Feb. 7 at First Baptist Church. The Rev. George P. Lee III officiated.
Buchanan-Robinson and Percell Funeral Home of Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.
Ira Chester French, 89
Ira Chester French, 89, of High Pine Street in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late George French and Emon Whitlock French, he was born on Dec. 31, 1914 in Taylor County, Ky.
He was of the Holiness faith and was a retired farmer and carpenter.
He was married
to Lizzie Dewitt Wood of June 9, 1962. She survives.
Also surviving are four step-children, Marvin Kirtley and Opal Nelson, both of Campbellsville, Virgil Wood of Lebanon, Ky., and Faye Graham of Oklahoma City, Okla.; 15 step-grandchildren; 33 step-great-grandchildren; eight step-great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers and two sisters, Willie "Bill" French of Campbellsville, Roy French of Raywick, Ky., and Kenneth French, Mildred Wheatley and Opal Scott, all of Louisville.
He was preceded in death by two step-children; George Wood and Barbara Agnes Wood; two brothers and two sisters, Charlie French, Walter French, Dorothy French and Bertha French.
Funeral was on Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Elder Rueal Boils and Sister Anna Overstreet officiated.
Burial was in the Mt. Washington Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joseph Florence, Buster French, Clifford French, Hoover French, Leon Nelson and Curtis Wood.
Harland Reeves Whitlock, 67
Harland Reeves Whitlock, 67, of Green County, Ky., died on Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, Ky.
Son of the late Frank Whitlock and Gladys Jewell Whitlock, he was born on Thursday, March 12, 1936, in Green County and was a member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church.
He retired after 30 years from General Electric in Louisville, Ky., and was a farmer.
He was married
to Shelia Honeycutt on July 11, 1998. She survives.
Also surviving is a step-daughter, Becky Fister of Green County; and a step-granddaughter, Kelly Fister of Green County.
Funeral was on Monday, Feb. 9 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in the Greasy Creek Cemetery. The Rev. William Karnes officiated.
Pallbearers were Duane Neeley, Rob Morgan, Doug Honeycutt, Al Dauch, Joey Honeycutt and Wayne McCoy.
Ruby L. Carter, 90
Ruby L. Carter, 90, of Forest Hills Drive in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Daughter of the late Edgar Lee Young and Clyde Wesley Jones Young, she was born on June 2, 1913, in Taylor County, Ky.
Carter was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
She married
Homer Carter on Nov. 2, 1955. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1971.
Survivors include one son and one daughter, Louis Shipp and Brenda Wilkerson, both of Campbellsville; seven grandchildren, Debbie Bailey of Lexington, Ky., Andrea Russell of Canton, Ga., Jarrod Wilkerson of Canyon Country, Calif., the Rev. J.D. Shipp, Terry Shipp and Jerry Shipp, all of Elizabethtown, and David Shipp of Louisville, Ky.; nine great-grandchildren, Dusty Bailey of Lexington, Aaron Shipp, Laura Shipp, Ashley Shipp, Jason Shipp and Rachel Nicole Shipp, all of Elizabethtown, Zachary Shipp and Josh Shipp, both of Louisville, and Madelyn Russell of Canton, Ga.; one great-great-granddaughter, Julie Shipp of Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Jimmie Shipp on May 5, 1965; one sister and two brothers, Jessie Wood, Walter Chaney Young and Omer Dearen Young.
Funeral was on Thursday, Feb. 12 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. J.D. Shipp and the Rev. Wayne Brooks officiated. Entombment was in Brookside Mausoleum.
Pallbearers were Dusty Bailey, Jim Bailey, Aaron Shipp, David Shipp, Jason Shipp, Jerry Shipp and Terry Shipp.
Honorary pallbearers were Brooks Bates, Kendall Curry, Richard Jeter, Thomas R. McMahan, Walter Harold Perkins, L.M. Read, Willard Smith and Lowell Yankey.
Anna Lee Hunt Brewer, 94
Anna Lee Hunt Brewer, 94, of Morristown, Ind., died on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at Brandywine Nursing Home in Greenfield, Ind.
Daughter of the late Edward Nolley and Frances "Fanny" Harris, she was born on July 23, 1909 in Marion County, Ky.
She was married
to Hubert R. Brewer on Oct. 24, 1936. He preceded her in death.
She was employed by Ayr-Way & LS Ayres, retiring in 1968. She was a homemaker and was a member of Morristown United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, George and Gleoria Mae Burris of Morristown, Ind., and Bonnie Cooksey of Fountaintown, Ind.; one son, Doral Hunt of Shelbyville, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son, LeRoy Brewer; one grandson, Jeff Burris; and three great-grandsons, Gage, Scotty and Justin.
Funeral was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Morristown United Methodist Church in Morristown, Ind. The Rev. Kenneth Wooden officiated.
Interment was in Asbury Cemetery.
