Patty Layman Miller, 56
Patty Layman Miller, 56, of Jefferson County, Ky., died on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Daughter of Reba C. Tucker Lyman of Harned, Ky., and the late Fred B. Layman, she was born on Thursday, July 3, 1947, in Jefferson County.
Miller was a member of Greensburg Presbyterian Church and was past president of the Alliance to the Kentucky Dental Association. She was a Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Club and was the manager at her husband's dental office.
She was married
to Dr. Joseph B. Miller on June 3, 1967. He survives.
Survivors include two sons, Charles D. "Chaz" Miller and James B. "Jim" Miller, both of Greensburg; two sisters and one brother, Bernice Hall of Louisville, Myrna Bruington of Falls of the Rough, Ky., and Fred Layman of Florida; and an uncle and aunt, Dr. Ralph and Nellie Winchester of Greensburg.
Funeral is at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Greensburg Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the Miller Cemetery in the Crocus Community of Adair County, Ky. The Rev. Charlie Taylor will officiate.
Pallbearers are John Miller, Paul Miller, Frank Miller, Brack Flanagan, Mike Miller, Walter Miller, David Flanagan, Ricky Bruington and Freddy Layman.
Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg is in charge of arrangements.
Liston Moore, 82,
Liston Moore, 82, of Columbia, Ky., died on Sunday, March 7, 2004, at Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia.
Son of the late William B. and Flora Squires Moore, he was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was also a member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6097.
Survivors include one son, Leon Moore of Indiana; two brothers, Allen Moore of Columbia and Lawrence Moore of California; two sisters, Beatrice Jessee and Lillian Krixton, both of Illinois; several nieces and nephews including two special nephews, Joe A. Moore and Terry Moore, both of Columbia; a special caregiver, Debbie Burris; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Paul Moore, Woodrow Moore, Margaret Kelopper and Ruth Moore.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 9 at Columbia Cemetery. The Rev. Randy Johnson will officiate. Military rites are to be performed by the VFW Post 6097.
Pallbearers are Joe A. Moore, Terry Moore, Gerald McLean, Danny Burriss, Bill Staten and Billy Joe Moore.
Honorary pallbearers are Carl Hutchison, J.M. Shelley and Ronnie Spinks.

Earl Buford Colvin, 65
Earl Buford Colvin, 65, of Finley, Ky., died on Monday, March 1, 2004, in Lebanon, Ky.
Son of the late Richard Henry Colvin and Rosie Lee Calhoun Colvin, he was born on Feb. 13, 1939 in Marion County, Ky., and was a member of Pitman Valley Baptist Church.
He was a retired farmer.
Survivors include three brothers, five sisters and their spouses, Coy Dean Colvin, Bennie Ray Colvin, Ramona and Shelby Shively, all of Finley, Edward and Linda Colvin, Brenda Joyce Jeffries and Barbara Jean Davis, all of Campbellsville, and Susan Jacobs of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, James Robert Colvin, Richard M. Colvin and Mary Elizabeth Colvin.
Funeral was on Wednesday, March 3, at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Bro. Jerry Lanham officiated. Burial was in Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Colvin, Robbie Colvin, Stacey Colvin, Terry Colvin, David Jacobs, Joe Denny Roberts and George Shively.
Honorary pallbearers were Carroll Benningfield, James Robert Caulk, Keith Davis, Rob Hale, James Wade and Carl Wright.
Gail Faye Denton, 46
Gail Faye Denton, 46, of Glasgow, Ky., died on Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
Daughter of Dorothy Jean Hiser of Monroe and the late H.T. Hiser, she was a member of Monroe Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
She was married
to Bobby Denton, who survives.
Other survivors include four brothers and three sisters-in-law, William and Betty Jewell, Ira and Martha Hiser and Wayne Jewell, all of Monroe, and Steve "Butch" and Willow Dean Jewell of Greensburg, Ky.; one sister and brother-in-law, Oma and Billy Riordan of Horse Cave, Ky.; her mother-in-law, Ora Denton of Monroe; four brothers-in-law, Jimmy Denton and his wife Waverly of Tennessee, Johnny Denton and Joe Denton and his wife Judy, all of Monroe, James Denton and his wife Jeanette of Park City, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral was on Thursday, Feb. 19 at the Winn Funeral Home in Horse Cave. Burial was in the Walthall Cemetery at Monroe.
Adell Mardis, 84
Adell Johnson Mardis, 84, of Laurel County, Ky., died on Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at the Franciscan Health Care Center in Louisville, Ky.
A member of Arcade Avenue Baptist Church, she was a retired teacher in London, Ky.
Her deceased husband, Harry Mardis, was a native of Taylor County.
She is survived by one son, Wilbur "Will" Sherrel Mardis of Holland, Penn.; and one sister, Alma Robinson; one brother, Oliver Johnson; and two grandchildren.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at the Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home at 3601 Taylor Blvd. in Louisville, Ky. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville.
Evelyn Grant McCloud, 84
Evelyn Grant McCloud, 84, of Columbia, Ky., died on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the Bowling Green Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky., after an illness.
Daughter of the late Robert Aaron and Shirley Williams Grant, she was a retired social worker for the Kentucky Department of Social Services, a member of Columbia Christian Church, a founding member of the Janice Holt Giles Foundation, a founding member of the Adair County Genealogical Society, former president of the Adair chapter of the American Cancer Society and an officer in the Adair County Homemakers.
Survivors include one daughter, Jo Etta Bonert of Milford, Ohio; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Ben and Janice McCloud of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Dale and Cricket McCloud of Columbia, Mike and Susan McCloud of Bowling Green, Pat and Diana McCloud of Milford, Ohio, and Kelly McCloud of Lebanon Junction, Ky.; two brothers, LeLand Grant of Columbia and Bill Grant of Liberty, Ky.; three sisters, Elizabeth Faust of Louisville, Ky., Ramona Collins of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Joyce Flynn of Costa Mesa, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Jim Swanner of Columbia.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry McCloud on Feb. 20, 1980; and one grandchild.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 6 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Terry White will officiate. Interment will be in the Haven Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Giles Foundation or the Columbia Christian Church Building Fund.
Gerald Cox, 56
Gerald Cox, 56, of Shawnee Drive in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, March 1, 2004, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington after an illness.
He was the son of the late Arlis and Ada Garrett Cox.
He was married
to Nina Cox, who survives.
Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Warren and Cindy Cox of Campbellsville; two daughters, Shannon Cox and Sherri Kelsay, both of Campbellsville; five grandchildren, Shelby Kelsay, Courtney Cox, Scott Cox, Destiny Cox and Ryen Cox; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Audrey Cox of Florida, Frances Baird of Michigan, and Mary and Samuel Cox of Indianapolis, Ind.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Mark Shane Cox.
Funeral was on Thursday, March 4 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville with burial in the Jones Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Harlin Parker officiated.
Pallbearers were Douglas Cox, Chris Parker, Johnny Watson, Robert Campbell, Mike Mings, Tony Mings, Jeffrey Cox, Kent Cox and Bub Cox Jr.
