Evelyn Grant McCloud, 84
Evelyn Grant McCloud, 84, of Columbia, Ky., died on Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the Bowling Green Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky., after an illness.
Daughter of the late Robert Aaron and Shirley Williams Grant, she was a retired social worker for the Kentucky Department of Social Services, a member of Columbia Christian Church, a founding member of the Janice Holt Giles Foundation, a founding member of the Adair County Genealogical Society, former president of the Adair chapter of the American Cancer Society and an officer in the Adair County Homemakers.
Survivors include one daughter, Jo Etta Bonert of Milford, Ohio; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Ben and Janice McCloud of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Dale and Cricket McCloud of Columbia, Mike and Susan McCloud of Bowling Green, Pat and Diana McCloud of Milford, Ohio, and Kelly McCloud of Lebanon Junction, Ky.; two brothers, LeLand Grant of Columbia and Bill Grant of Liberty, Ky.; three sisters, Elizabeth Faust of Louisville, Ky., Ramona Collins of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Joyce Flynn of Costa Mesa, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Jim Swanner of Columbia.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Jerry McCloud on Feb. 20, 1980; and one grandchild.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 6 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Terry White will officiate. Interment will be in the Haven Hill Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to the Giles Foundation or the Columbia Christian Church Building Fund.
Gerald Woody, 57
Gerald Woody, 57, of Kindness Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Son of Kathryn Brockman Woody of Liberty, Ky., and the late Delmer Woody, he was born on Sept. 22, 1946 in Adair County, Ky.
Woody, an employee of Atmos Energy in Campbellsville, was in fellowship with Campbellsville Baptist Temple Deaf Church.
He was married
to Kay Slaven Petrie on Nov. 24, 1986. She survives.
Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by nine children, Toni Fisher of Mt. Vernon, Ind., Steve Woody, Delisa Cox, Barbi Petrie, Tony Petrie and Stephanie Moore, all of Campbellsville, Jimmie Petrie and Dorothy Petrie, both of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Bonnie Childress of Mt. Sherman, Ky.; 27 grandchildren; and two sisters, Joan Wethington of Louisville, Ky., and Genevee Ware of Liberty.
He was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Desiree Denham and Schuyler Denham II on Oct. 5, 1993.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 19 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Bro. Mike Bader will officiate. Burial is in Hiter Cemetery in Adair County.
Pallbearers are James Coffey, Bobby Davis, Leon French, Bill Gulley, Danny Hall, David Hurst, Dennis Keen and Thomas Tackett.
Ruby L. Carter, 90
Ruby L. Carter, 90, of Forest Hills Drive in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Daughter of the late Edgar Lee Young and Clyde Wesley Jones Young, she was born on June 2, 1913, in Taylor County, Ky.
Carter was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
She married
Homer Carter on Nov. 2, 1955. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1971.
Survivors include one son and one daughter, Louis Shipp and Brenda Wilkerson, both of Campbellsville; seven grandchildren, Debbie Bailey of Lexington, Ky., Andrea Russell of Canton, Ga., Jarrod Wilkerson of Canyon Country, Calif., the Rev. J.D. Shipp, Terry Shipp and Jerry Shipp, all of Elizabethtown, and David Shipp of Louisville, Ky.; nine great-grandchildren, Dusty Bailey of Lexington, Aaron Shipp, Laura Shipp, Ashley Shipp, Jason Shipp and Rachel Nicole Shipp, all of Elizabethtown, Zachary Shipp and Josh Shipp, both of Louisville, and Madelyn Russell of Canton, Ga.; one great-great-granddaughter, Julie Shipp of Elizabethtown; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Jimmie Shipp on May 5, 1965; one sister and two brothers, Jessie Wood, Walter Chaney Young and Omer Dearen Young.
Funeral was on Thursday, Feb. 12 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. J.D. Shipp and the Rev. Wayne Brooks officiated. Entombment was in Brookside Mausoleum.
Pallbearers were Dusty Bailey, Jim Bailey, Aaron Shipp, David Shipp, Jason Shipp, Jerry Shipp and Terry Shipp.
Honorary pallbearers were Brooks Bates, Kendall Curry, Richard Jeter, Thomas R. McMahan, Walter Harold Perkins, L.M. Read, Willard Smith and Lowell Yankey.
David Gunter, 47
David Gunter, 47, of Mannsville, Ky., died on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at his home after a sudden illness.
Son of the late Harlen and Dorothy Gunter, he was an employee of Morton Plastics in Lebanon, Ky.
Survivors include one son, David Cody Gunter; one aunt, Lorene Olson of Mannsville; one half-brother, George Gribbins; and one cousin, Connie Atwood.
Funeral was on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home in Campbellsville with burial in the Merrimac Cemetery. The Rev. Raymond Atwood officiated.
Pallbearers were George Gribbins Jr., Larry Atwood, Jonathan Wiser, Jimmy Callahan, Maurice Richerson and Robert Atwood.
Dovie Marie Wells Dennis, 84
Dovie Marie Wells Dennis, 84, of Stanton, Ky., died on Monday, March 1, 2004, at the Transitional Care Unit of Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Ky.
Daughter of the late James Jackson and Lillie Sparks Wells, she was born on Nov. 21, 1919 and was a native of Powell County.
She was married
to James Ishmael "Ish" Dennis. He preceded her in death.
She and her late husband owned and operated Smathers and Co., a general merchandise store in Stanton, Ky. for more than 40 years.
She was a homemaker and a member of Stanton Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Danny Clark and Debbie Dennis of Campbellsville and James Edward and Kathryn Dennis of Stanton; three granddaughters and their spouses, Laura Rose and Larry Jr. Young, Sarah Nell and Toby Howell and Anna Kate and Jon Skidmore, all of Stanton; two grandsons, David Clark Dennis of Louisville, Ky., and James Adam Dennis of Lexington, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Macey Rose Howell and Colton Layne Young, both of Stanton; and a special niece, Sondra Wells Faulkner of Mt. Sterling.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Grant Wells, Lloyd Wells, Lonnie Wells and Vernon Wells.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 4 at Stanton Christian Church with the Rev. David Bowden and the Rev. David Rule officiating. Burial will follow in the Stanton Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Pearl Raymond, Margie Mastin, Andrea Fortney, Juanita and Dewey Randall, Louise and Jess Rogers, Elsie Martin, Millie Anber, Daisey Rice, Lina Mare Skidmore, Brenda Patrick, Ann and Dr. Sam Cecil, Dr. Bryan Andreas, Dr. William Wittman and the caregivers at the Clark Regional Memorial Center.

David Bright, 78
David Bright, 78, of West Saloma Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Sunday, March 7, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late Willie T. Bright and Cora Ethel Mardis Bright, he was born on Jan. 11, 1926 in Taylor County, Ky., and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
He served in the United States Army.
He married
Marie Hudson on Dec. 20, 1952. She survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, one son and their spouses, Barbara Jean and Bobby McCubbins of Summersville, Ky., Brenda and Mark Hazard and Nita and Mike Parker, all of Campbellsville, Linda Cardenas and her companion Jerry Gavito of El Paso, Texas, and J.D. and Tonya Bright of Canmer, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Alleyne and Garland "Cwood" Wright and Margaret Bright, all of Campbellsville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Linus Bright, Howard Bright, Irene Mardis and Mildred Colvin.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10 at the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Michael Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jerry Gavito, Mark Hazard, Adam McCubbins, Bobby McCubbins, Keith Parker and Mike Parker.
