Ruth Maupin, 93

Ruth Maupin, 93, formerly of Taylor County, Ky., died on Saturday, March 6, 2004, in Austin, Texas.

Daughter of the late Ira B. and Myra Bailey Maupin, she was born on Jan. 11, 1911 in Taylor County. A 1944 graduate of Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, she was active in children's ministries throughout the Taylor County area.

Moving to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in 1948, she founded Broward County Child Evangelism Fellowship and was its director until 1972, when she retired because of illness. She moved to Austin, Texas in 1999 to live with family members.

Survivors include two nieces, Alice Foreman and Ruth Foreman, both of Catalano, Texas; two nephews, Dr. Ronald Foreman of Chicago and Philip Foreman of San Jose, Calif.; and nine great and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Flora E. Foreman.

Burial will be in Austin, Texas.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Child Evangelism Fellowship of Broward County, Training Fund, P.O. Box 735, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. 33302.

Otha Ray Patterson, 81

Otha Ray Patterson, 81, of Ashley Drive in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville following an illness.

He was the son of the late Herbert and Daisy Miller Patterson.

He is survived by his wife, Katherine Patterson; four sons, Danny Patterson, Rodney Patterson and Anthony Wayne Patterson, all of Indiana, and Otha Patterson Jr. of Texas; one step-son, Lewis McCubbin of Michigan; three daughters, Brenda Farnsworth of Wyoming, Nadine Cave and Teresa Tharp, both of Indiana; four step-daughters, Mary Spencer and Lois Wolford, both of Ohio, Wanda Watson of Louisville, Ky., and Maxine Hitch of Campbellsville; one brother, Otis Patterson of Liberty, Ky.; six sisters, Dollie Fiehn and Alta Stevens, both of Ohio, Florie Shaw of Winsor, Ilajean Burress and Ruby Malone, both of Campbellsville, and Rose Scholt of Indiana; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three daughters, Linda Havins, Madonna Carol Patterson and Barbara Ann Patterson; three brothers, Claude Patterson, Murvis Patterson and James Rastus Patterson; and one sister, Dorothy Luttrell.

Funeral was on Monday, March 1 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Lebanon National Cemetery with full military honors by the Lebanon DAV. Dr. B.C. Gillespie officiated.

Pallbearers were Paul Malone, Robert Cave, Bobby Cave, Nathan Patterson, Louis McCubbin, Marshall Malone, Win Farnsworth and Wendell Hitch.

Sam Stapleton, 69

Sam Stapleton, 69, of Columbia, Ky., died on Thursday, March 4, 2004, at the Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia after several weeks of illness.

Son of the late Miller H. and Ogin Cowan Stapleton, he was retired from American Standard in Louisville, Ky., and was a member of Free Union Separate Baptist Church.

He was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was married to Delois "Sissy" Harmon Stapleton of Columbia. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Harold and Sherry Stapleton of Russell Springs, Ky., and Roger Stapleton of Columbia; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Billy Dudgeon of Campbellsville; one brother, E.C. Stapleton of Louisville; one sister, Agnes Burton of Edinburg, Inc.; and five grandchildren, April Dudgeon, Megan Stapleton, Skyler Stapleton, Lisa Newton and Teresa Newton.

Funeral will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 6 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Jim Goff will officiate.

Interment will be in the Bearwallow Cemetery.

Patsy W. Humphress, 57

Patsy W. Humphress, 57, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Knifley, Ky., died on Friday, March 12, 2004, in Louisville.

Daughter of the late Willie Matt Humphress and Matre Knifley Humphress, she was born on July 16, 1946, in Marion County, Ky.

Humphress was a member of Knifley Christian Church and was a nurse's aide.

Survivors include two brothers and one sister-in-law, James W. "Jim" and Joan Humphress and Burr Humphress, all of Campbellsville.

Funeral was on Sunday, March 14 at Humphress Cemetery in Knifley. Joe Hatchett officiated.

Pallbearers were Harvey Dickens, Mark Dickens, Chad Ford, James Prow and Tyler Prow.

Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.

Edna E. Hubbard, 83

Edna E. Hubbard, 83, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, March 15, 2004, in Louisville.

Born on Jan. 20, 1921, in Taylor County, Ky., Hubbard was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She was a retired employee of the Derby Cap Co. and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Fairdale Chapter.

She was married to William Edward Hubbard on Dec. 3, 1938. He preceded her in death on April 3, 1987.

Hubbard is survived by one daughter and two sons, Linda S. Sizemore, Maurice Hubbard and William E. Hubbard, all of Louisville; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral is at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 20 at Owen Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial is at 1:30 p.m. at Brookside Cemetery in Campbellsville.

Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Dr. Robert Januski, 66

Dr. Robert R. Januski, 66, of Lone Valley Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, March 15, 2004, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville after an illness.

He was the son of the late Walter and Genevieve Bellmore Januski.

Januski is survived by his wife, Alice Benningfield Januski; three sons and daughters-in-law, Matt and Karen Januski of Texas, Tim and Valerie Januski of Walton, Ky., and Mike and Meg Januski of Campbellsville; four grandchildren, Sarah Januski and Megan Januski, both of Campbellsville, Cole Januski of Walton, Ky., and Hannah Januski of Texas; one brother and two sisters, Tom Januski of Prescott, Ariz., Lu Evans of St. Ann, Ill., and Kathy Kibbons of Bradley, Ill.; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and JoAnn White of Pensacola, Fla.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia White Januski; and his brother-in-law, John White.

Funeral Mass was on Thursday, March 18 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Father Jeffrey Leger officiated.

Pallbearers were Bill Chandler, Tommy Spires, Len Spires, Donald Rhinehart, Ray Perkins and Dale Lowe Jr.

Lyon-Dewitt Funeral Home was in charge of the services.

James Michael "Jim" Sidebottom, 52

James Michael "Jim" Sidebottom, 52, died on Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Ky.

Son of Mary Lou Pepper Sidebottom of Greensburg and the late William Smith Sidebottom, he was born on Sunday, Sept. 2, 1951, in Green County, Ky.

He was a member of Oak Forest Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a retired manager for CVS Drugs in London, Ky.

Survivors include one sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Elijah Bowling of Edgewood, Ky.; one nephew, Jason Bowling of Edgewood; and one niece and her husband, Patricia Lynn and Scott Rattliff of West Chester, Ohio.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 5 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial in the Wilson Cemetery.

The Rev. Jimmy Tucker and the Rev. Elizabeth Milby will officiate.

Pallbearers are Wyatt Gragg, Danny Milby, Jeff Sauer, Jeff Bradshaw, Jim Reams and Mike Cunningham.
