Harry Truman "Dickie" Tungate, 52

Harry Truman "Dickie" Tungate, 52, of Mannsville, Ky., died on Saturday, April 3, 2004, at his home.

Son of the late Travis Tungate and Minnie Johnson, he was born on April 18, 1951 in Marion County, Ky.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Tungate of Mannsville; his ex-wife, Rosa Tungate of Mannsville; five daughters, Delena Rose Bunch, Janetta Lynn Neely and Ashley Nicole Tungate, all of Mannsville, and Teresa Jane Hunt and Amanda Gail Greer, both of Campbellsville; two step-daughters, Jessica Montgomery of Columbia, Ky., and Julie Blair of Versailles, Ky.; two step-sons, Daniel Blair and James Anthony Blair, both of Mannsville; one half-sister, Maxine Wright of Louisville, Ky.; three half-brothers, Enos Tungate of Mannsville and Oscar Tungate and Milburn Tungate, both of Lebanon, Ky.; four grandchildren, Douglas Wayne Bunch, Daymond Lee Neeley, Janell Brooke Neeley and Brandon Lile Greer; and three step-grandchildren, Dakota Montgomery, Austin Montgomery and Jacob Montgomery.

Funeral was on Tuesday, April 6 at Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon with the Rev. Steven Lee officiating. Burial was in Old Liberty Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mark Douglas Bunch, William Lee Neeley, Thanael Colane Hunt, Kyle Jason Greer, Jason Shane Montgomery and Harold Morris.

Honorary pallbearers were Donald Abston, Daniel Blair and Paul Lacy.

Dorothy E. Wise, 78

Dorothy E. Wise, 78, of Fairview Drive in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Monday, May 3, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Daughter of the late George L. Thompson Sr. and Effie Lee Malone Thompson, she was born in Marion County, Ky., on Oct. 21, 1925.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and a former employee of Fruit of the Loom.

She was married to Chester Wise on Feb. 22, 1947. He survives.

She, with her husband, was an owner and operator of Wise Grocery for seven years and Campbellsville Upholstery for 25 years until their retirement.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Sue Wise and George and Donna Wise, all of Campbellsville; one son-in-law, Larry G. Cox of Campbellsville; six grandchildren, Melissa Ellis of Dunnville, Ky., Pat Watson, MacKenzie Wise, Lorna Bush and Ben Cox, all of Campbellsville, and Max Wise of Lexington, Ky.; 11 great-grandchildren, Jacob Ellis, Ethan Ellis, Seth Ellis, Mariah Ellis, John Samuel Ellis and Hope Ellis, all of Dunnville, Caitlin Watson, Anna Beth Watson, Payne Watson and Tyler Bush, all of Campbellsville, and Grayson Wise of Lexington; and three sisters and one brother, Elizabeth Maupin of Franklin, Ky., Helen Mattingly of Louisville, Ky., Jean Peterson and G.L. Thompson Jr., both of Lebanon, Ky.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Cox on Aug. 18, 2002; three sisters and one brother, Kathryn Buckman, Leora Thompson, Roberta Lee Houston and Kobert Thompson.

Funeral is at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 6, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. The Rev. Jeffrey P. Leger will officiate.

Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers are Greg Bush, Ben Cox, Alfred Ellis, Ethan Ellis, Jacob Ellis, Mike Watson and Max Wise.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Taylor County Relay for Life.

Enos Tungate, 97

Enos Tungate, 97, of Liberty Road in Campbellsville died at 4:05 p.m. April 19, 2004, at University Hospital in Louisville.

Born in Marion County, Tungate was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Travis and Louisetha Tungate; his wife, Rhoda Ellen Tungate, two sons, Earl and Foster Cleaver Tungate; three brothers, Bob, George and Harry Truman Tungate; two half-brothers, Alford and Tom Tungate; four sisters, Catherine Mason, Flossie Marples, Carrie Mae Davis and Ethel Ramsey; and two grandchildren, Billy Earl and Bethany Jean Followell.

Survivors include two sons, Leon and James Tungate of Campbellsville; a daughter, Prentice Followell of Mannsville; a sister, Maxine Wright of Louisville; two brothers, Oscar Tungate of Lebanon and Milburn Tungate of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Thursday, April 22 at Campbell-DeWitt Funeral Home in Lebanon with burial in Old Liberty Cemetery in Bradfordsville. Bros. Damian Romil and Don Gowin officiated.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Timothy Eugene, Tom, Kerry Douglas, Earl Wayne and Carlton Doyle Tungate and Donald Lee Rakes.

Honorary pallbearers were all of his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Gillam B. Lackey, 75

Gillam B. Lackey, 75, of Oswego, Ill., died on Thursday, April 28, 2004, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Illinois.

Son of the late Charlie and Nellie Lackey, he was born on July 13, 1928 in Columbia, Ky.

Survivors include two children, Lisa Fry and Dale Lackey; six brothers and sisters, Lewis Lackey, Rosie Thompson, Allen Lackey, Hubert Lackey, Sue O'Bannion and Johnny Lackey, all of Campbellsville; and six grandchildren, Alen Fry, Kris Lackey, Ben Lackey and Amber Lackey.

He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Marsha Lackey and Marilyn Balser; one sister, Gladys Reba Tate; and two brothers, Thomas Lackey and Charlie Lackey.

Funeral service and interment were private.

Arrangements were handled by The Daleiden Mortuary, located at 220 N. Lake Street in Aurora, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kendall County Senior Services, 578 Countryside Center, Yorkville, Ill. 60560.

Betty Martin, 64

Betty Martin, 64, of Casey Creek, Ky., died on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at her home.

Daughter of the late Harry Chaney and Jewell Bryant Chaney, she was born on June 26, 1939 in Lexington, Ky.

Martin was employed as a cook at Druther's Restaurant.

She was married to Shirley Martin on Feb. 5, 1955. He preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2000.

Survivors include four sons and two daughters, Shirley Martin Jr. and Dale Martin, both of Casey Creek, Dennis Martin, Danny Martin and Sandy Mays, all of Knifley, Ky., and Teresa Zawackie of LaPorte, Ind.; 24 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; five sisters and one brother, Joanna McCarty of Campbellsville, Donna McCormick, Cindy Gade and Debbie Hulin, all of Florida, and Opal Burton and Danny Chaney, both of Lexington, Ky.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Larry Martin, on Nov. 28, 1997; and one brother, Pat Chaney.

Funeral was on Wednesday, May 5 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by Bro. Harold Dupps. Burial was in the Martin Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Greg Clark, Eric Hovious, James Martin, Jeremy Martin, Kyle Martin, Little Larry Martin, Nathaniel Martin and Charlie Price.

John David Martin, 59

John David Martin, 59, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Monday, May 3, 2004, at his home.

Son of the late John Will Martin and Nellie Gertrude Akin Martin, he was born on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 1945, in Green County, Ky.

He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and the William B. Allen Masonic Lodge #704. Martin was also a farmer and a Vietnam veteran, having served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Linda Martin and John David II and Shannon Martin, all of Greensburg; one daughter, Jennifer Martin of Greensburg; five sisters and one brother, Becky Underwood of Radcliff, Betty Hall of Greensburg, Carolyn Martin Williams of Louisville, Ky., Trudy Whitlow and Mary Lois Martin, both of Magnolia, Ky., and Billy Martin of Shelbyville, Ky.; and four grandchildren, Jessica Martin, Cody Martin, Lauren Martin and Rylee Martin, all of Greensburg.

A Masonic service was on Wednesday, May 5 by the William B. Allen Masonic Lodge #704.

Funeral was on Thursday, May 6 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in the Greensburg Cemetery with military rites conducted. The Revs. William Karnes, Gilbert Larimore and Jim Collison officiated.

Active pallbearers were Wayne Phillips, Sammy Bonta, Dennis Nunn, Wilbur Phillips, Donald Judd, Dick Bibb, Ronald "Bub" Bonta and Loy "Man" Jones.

Honorary pallbearers were Rodney Martin, Kenneth Hall, Greg Martin, Don Judd and Joey Whitlow.
