Bobbylin Abbot, 78, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Friday, May 7, 2004.
Daughter of the late John Vanarsdale and Hattie Mae Lee Vanarsdale, she was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Walsh of Ohio; one niece, Margaret Coomes and her husband, Donnie, of Campbellsville; and one nephew, Bobby Cook and his wife, Betty Lou, of Greensburg.
Funeral was on Sunday, May 9 at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg by Bro. Curtis Slinker. Burial was in Lee Cemetery in Green County.
Pallbearers were Boyce Simpson, Jonathan Durham, Ronnie Durham, Ronnie Coomes, Scott Allen and Joe Young.
Mary Anne Carter, 75
Mary Anne Carter, 75, of Risen Avenue in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Saturday, May 8, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Daughter of the late C.V. Bryan and Beulah Wilkerson Bryan, she was born on Dec. 3, 1928 in Taylor County, Ky., and was a member of Campbellsville Baptist Church.
Carter was a long time employee of the Purple and Gold Restaurant.
She was married
to Veachel Carter on May 30, 1946. He preceded her in death on Jan 12, 1996.
Survivors include three sons and one daughter-in-law, Stephen L. and Becky Carter of Lexington, Ky., Bruce Carter and Chad Carter, both of Campbellsville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn Hronek of Covington, Ky., Elizabeth Anne Carter of Hustonville, Ky., Kerr Anne Carter of Charleston, S.C., Benjamin B. Carter of Lexington, Ky., Kelsie T. Carter and Wyatt Lee Carter, both of Campbellsville; and three sisters, Nelle Vaughn of Campbellsville, Virginia Coffey of Louisville, Ky., and Betty Larimore of Lexington, Ky.
Funeral was on Tuesday, May 11 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by the Rev. Skip Alexander. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Benjamin Carter, Ray Fowler, Mike Hronek, Richard Jeter, Charles Vaughn, Denny Vaughn and John Vaughn.
Alvina Roach, 80
Alvina Roach, 80, of Columbia, Ky., died on Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia after an illness.
Daughter of the late Jim Riley and Mattie Pearl Roach Sexton, she attended Tabor Community Church and was a homemaker.
She was married
to Chester Ray Roach, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia A. and Billy Hadley of Columbia; two sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Carol Roach of Louisville, Ky., and Clevelan C. and Sue Roach of Glasgow, Ky.; one brother, James Howard Sexton of Columbia; three sisters, Myrtle Brummett, Josie Roach and Cleo Wilson, all of Louisville; four grandchildren, Darrell Roach, Angela Mutter, James Ray Roach and Rebecca Adams; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her husband and parents, Roach was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, Riley Sexton, Ural Sexton, Dorothy Sexton and Geneva Wilson.
Funeral was on Friday, May 7 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Ralph Hadley officiated. Interment was in Moore Cemetery at Gradyville.
Pallbearers were Darrell Roach, James Ray Roach, Donnie Roach, Matt Mutter, Anthony Hadley and Jeff Hadley.
William C. "Bill" Robinson, 76
William C. "Bill" Robinson, 76, of Pendleton, Ky., died on Sunday, May 9, 2004, at St. John's Medical Center after a long illness.
Son of the late Everett and Rosa Eastridge Robinson, he was born on May 10, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was reared and attended schools in Casey Creek, Ky.
Robinson was employed by South Madison Schools Corp., retiring in 1991 after 30 years in the maintenance department.
He attended Rock Church Assembly of God in Pendleton.
He married
Opal McDaniel Robinson on March 10, 1945. She survives.
Other survivors include four children and their spouses, Judy and Richard Carpenter and Charlotte and Steve Anderson, all of Anderson, Glennie and Sharon Robinson of Pendleton, and Dale and Dawn Robinson of Markleville; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Dallard and Shirley Robinson and M.C. and Opal Robinson, all of Louisville, and W.R. and Kaye Robinson of Campbellsville; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Garnettia Knifley of Columbia, Rita and Dennis Keltner and Flora Esther Robinson, all of Campbellsville; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Brandi Carpenter, Mike and Jasmine Carpenter, Michelle Warner, Doug and Michele Anderson, Jennifer and Eric Wiggins, Joseph and Kara Robinson and Jerrid and Lacey Robinson; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ivan Robinson, Richard Robinson and Junior Robinson.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory Bright Chapel in Pendleton. The Rev. Tad Finch will officiate. Burial will be in Grove Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial contribution may be made to the Rock Church building fund.
William Taylor DeWitt, 78,
William Taylor DeWitt, 78, of Nashville, Tenn., died on Monday, May 10, 2004, in Nashville after a long illness.
DeWitt, born in Frankfort, Ky., served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II and graduated from the University of Kentucky, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity.
He was retired from General Telephone and Electric where he served in various management capacities in Campbellsville, Ashland and Lexington. He was also past post commander of the Frankfort Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was actively involved in the Lexington Marine Corps League.
DeWitt was married
to Mary Margaret, who preceded him in death in 1986.
Survivors include his daughter, Nancy DeWitt Gruber; and three grandchildren, Brandon DeWitt Gruber, Chase Taylor Gruber and Allie Davis Gruber, all of Nashville, Tenn.
Visitation is scheduled for 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, 463 E. Main St. in Lexington.
Funeral is at noon on Friday, May 14 at Kerr Brothers with internment at Lexington Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Gary Huffman, Tom Merritt, Frank Cassidy, Brandon Gruber, Chase Gruber, Philip Maloney, Tom Radden and Allie Gruber.
L.C. Pickett, 71
L.C. Pickett, 71, of Scottsville, Ky., died on Thursday, May 6, 2004, at his home.
Son of the late Estel Pickett and Dell Alma Dudley Pickett, he was a native of Green County, Ky., and was a member of First General Baptist Church in Scottsville.
Pickett was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired employee of General Electric.
He was married
to Irene Compton, who survives.
Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Donna Pickett of Spanish Fort, Ala.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki and Ron Gorth of Louisville, Ky., and Rhonda and Stan Bratcher of Scottsville; two brothers, Carl Wayne Pickett of Louisville and Charles David Pickett of Crestwood, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral was on Monday, May 10 at Goad Funeral Home in Scottsville, with burial in Orr Cemetery in Green County. The Rev. Jimmy Cushenberry, the Rev. Wayne Keen and the Rev. Jimmy Tucker officiated.
