Vina E. Stotts, 87
Vina E. Stotts, 87, of Columbia, Ky., died on Saturday, June 5, 2004, at Westlake Regional Hospital in Columbia.
Daughter of the late J.C. and Julie Ann Brown Spoon, she was a member of Old Concord United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.
She was married
to Arvest Lester Stotts, who preceded her in death on July 27, 1995.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Arlis and Martha Stotts of Columbia and Steve and Sharon Stotts of Fairplay, Ky.; one daughter and son-in-law, Rosetta and Gary Samuell of Glensfork, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one step-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, four sisters and one grandson.
Funeral will be on Tuesday, June 8 at 1 p.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia with the Revs. Sam Burris and Elbert Hadley officiating. Burial will be in McClister Cemetery at Fairplay.
Pallbearers are Christopher Samuell, Shawn Samuell, Kevin Stotts, Mark Stotts, Phillip Stotts and Ricky Stotts.
Honorary pallbearers are Amon Spoon, Alvin Spoon, Lester Spoon, Wendell Spoon, Sammy Stotts and David Stotts.
Ezra Louis Sweeney, 91
Ezra Louis Sweeney, 91, of Green County, Ky., died on Saturday, June 5, 2004, at his home.
Son of the late Ira Lewis Sweeney and Flora Pierce Sweeney, he was born on Sunday, July 28, 1912, in Oldham County, Ky.
Sweeney was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and was a retired employee of Kentucky Trailers.
He was married
to Lizzie Edith Beauchamp on May 17, 1948. She preceded him in death on Aug. 23, 1983.
Survivors include two children and their spouses, Donnie and Wilma Sweeney and Mardell and Sydney Hagan, all of Greensburg, Ky.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Ricky and Gaye Jones of Glasgow, Ky., Donna and Travis Warren of Mt. Washington, Ky., and Jennifer and Jimmy Hagan of Greensburg, Ky.; and four great-grandchildren, Bethany York, Jessica York, Jordan York and Evan York, all of Glasgow.
Funeral was on Tuesday, June 8 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. The Rev. Charlie Warren officiated. Burial was in the Jones Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers were Ricky Jones, Jimmy Adkins, Jordan York, Travis Warren, Harvey Beauchamp and Darrell Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were employees of Hospice of Central Kentucky, Dr. Wiedler's office staff, Family Home Heath, Taylor County Cancer Clinic and Dr. Phil Aaron's office.
Edward Howard Warf Sr., 80
Edward Howard Warf Sr., 80, of Green County, Ky., died on Sunday, June 6, 2004, at the Hospice Care Unit in Louisville, Ky.
Son of the late Caffrie Warf and Nellie Perkins Warf, he was born on Monday, June 18, 1923, in Green County, Ky.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the James L. Pruitt VFW Post #5813, a member of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124 and he was a retired truck driver for J&J; Trucking.
He was married
to Mary Lee Settles on Aug. 3, 1955. She preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 1988.
Survivors include two daughters, Regina Pugh and Theresa Crum, both of Louisville; two sons, Edward H. Warf Jr. and Dale Warf, both of Louisville; two step-sons, John Edward Legler of Indiana and Thomas Wayne Legler of Louisville; one sister, Esther Wiley of Campbellsville, Ky.; one brother, Odeen Warf of Louisiana; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton Warf and Elmo Warf.
Funeral was on Tuesday, June 8 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Burial was in the Warf Cemetery with military rites conducted. Bros. Carlos Compton and Leon Jones officiated.
Pallbearers were members of the James L. Pruitt VFW Post 5813.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124.
Marshall A. Webb, 82
Marshall A. Webb, 82, of East First Street in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at Medco Nursing Home in Campbellsville after an illness.
Son of the late Thomas and Mary Willis Franklin Webb, he was a member of East Side Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Opal Webb; one son and daughter-in-law, Roger A. and Harriett Webb of Morocco, Ind.; one daughter, Marsha Webb of Campbellsville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Eva Marie Pappas; four brothers, Alton Webb, Golden Webb, Cecil Webb and Roy Webb; and three sisters, Ruby Tungate, Justine Judd and Maxine Lyons.
Funeral was on Friday, May 28 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville. Burial was in the Green River Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the DAV in Lebanon.
The Rev. Ivan Jones and Rev. George P. Lee III officiated.
Pallbearers were Aaron Webb, Bobby Webb, Roger Webb Jr., Thomas Pappas, Bronson Gowdy and Allan Holmes.
Brandon Price, 12
Brandon Price, 12, of Sanders Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Thursday, June 3, 2004, as a result of a four-wheeler accident.
Son of Nevin Price and Sherri Porter Price, he was born in Taylor County, Ky., on Feb. 17, 1992. He was a member of Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church and a seventh grader at Taylor County Middle School.
He is also survived by one brother, Cole Price of Campbellsville; his grandparents G.W. and Faye Porter of Campbellsville and Hollis and Minnie Hancock of Lebanon, Ky.; one great-grandmother, Elizabeth Burchett of Campbellsville; and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral was on Saturday, June 5 at Muldraugh Hill Baptist Church in Marion County, Ky. The Rev. Vic Stansbury and the Rev. Don Gowin officiated. Burial was at New Market Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Benningfield, Dennis Flygstad, Hal Hallmark, Steve Morris, Randall Porter and Doug Taylor.
Thomas Wyatt Smith, 67
Thomas Wyatt Smith, 67, of Danville, Ky., died on Friday, June 4, 2004, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Son of the late Samuel G. and Mary Lee Rice Smith, he was born on May 9, 1937 in Campbellsville, Ky. He was a former president and C.E.O. of Ephraim McDowell Health.
He was named the 2000 Citizen of the Year by the Danville/Boyle County Chamber of Commerce and, in 2001, was given the Distinguished Service Award by the Kentucky Hospital Association.
Smith also served on several boards and committees, including Campbellsville University Board of Trustees and Business and Finance Committees, Several Ephraim McDowell boards, Central Kentucky Cancer Program Board, Hospital Technical Advisory Committee, The Kentucky Hospital Association Board of Directors and the Leadership Kentucky Board of Directors.
He is survived by his wife, Malinda Parker Smith; three sons, Gregory Thomas Smith, Bradley Wyatt Smith and Brentley Parker Smith, all of Louisville, Ky.; two brothers, Paul Edward Smith and Howard Lee Smith, both of Campbellsville, Ky.; one sister, Mabel Louise Petrey of Campbellsville; and seven grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Ruth Smith.
Funeral was on Tuesday, June 8 at Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Tommy Valentine officiated. Burial was in Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, Ky.
Pallbearers were Joe Greer, William Peniston, Bernard Montgomery, Quince Arnold, Jim Beck, David Bibb, Charles Gatton and E.R. Purdom.
Honorary pallbearers were Evelyn Guerrant, Rick Nallinger, Rick Kaylor, I.B. Jenkins, Mike Carter, Bill Huston, Richie Lyons and Jeanette Davis.
Memorial donations may be made to the Thomas W. Smith Rural Healthcare Fund or to the Lexington Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund.
