Roy Gupton, 78
Roy Gupton, 78, of Green County, Ky., died on Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.
Son of the late Everett E. Gupton and Violet M. Taylor Gupton, he was born in Green County on June 24, 1926. He was a member of Green Hill Baptist Church, a farmer and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He married
Magdalene "Maggie" Bass on March 29, 1947. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1999.
Survivors include two sisters, Anita Berry of Campbellsville, Ky. and Sharon Watson of Greensburg, Ky.; and a special sister-in-law, Nell Bradshaw and her husband, Bill, of Greensburg.
Funeral was Thursday, Sept. 16 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. The Rev. Brad Asbury officiated. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike Durrett, Wendell Wright, Terry Paxton, Ray Acree, Bobby Fisher and Jerry Curry.
Honorary pallbearers were Brenda Tucker, Angie Judd, Dana Hixson, Tammy Durham, Sherry Murphy, Naomi Embry and Sarah Leachman.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Jane Todd Crawford Hospital Auxiliary or donation of Gideon Bibles. Both may be made at the funeral home.
Ruby Arnold, 90
Ruby Arnold, 90, of Arnold Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, at Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness.
Daughter of the late Matthew and Cordelia Watson Overstreet of Adair County, Ky., she was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Daris and Mary Ann Arnold of Campbellsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Faye and James Theoharous of Muncie, Ind.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Eva Arnold of Campbellsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Milford Overstreet, Willie Overstreet and Herbert Overstreet; and seven sisters, Docie Bault, Annis Yarberry, Grace Troutman, Estelle Arnold, Lorena Corbin, Bessie Rice and Mary Corbin.
Funeral was Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville. The Revs. Michael Goodwin and Lewis Haynes officiated. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Orbey Yarberry, Carl Arnold, Bennie Arnold, Bobby Rice, Bobby Beard, Tommy Corbin, Eric Pickett and Darrell Overstreet.
Martha Coakley Carroll, 72
Martha Coakley Carroll, 72, of River Bend, N.C., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, in North Carolina.
Born in Taylor County on Oct. 7, 1931, she was a member of First Baptist Church in New Bern, N.C., where she was a deacon.
She was married
to Gerald Donaldson Carroll, who survives.
Survivors also include two daughters and one son-in-law, Susan Carroll and Vernon Gleaton and Pamela Carroll Lamanti, all of Lake Ridge, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald Anthony and Heather Carroll of Woodbridge, Va.; seven grandchildren, Jason Gleaton, Elizabeth Mathewson, Jessica Lamanti, Cassandra Lamanti, Nicholas Lamanti, Delaney Carroll and Keagan Carroll; four great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Virginia Coakley McMahan and Ann Coakley and Joe DeSpain, all of Campbellsville; and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Carroll and his wife, Hilda, of Campbellsville.
Funeral is at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17 at First Baptist Church in New Bern. Burial is at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 27 at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.

Lloyd Ray Osborne, 61
Lloyd Ray Osborne, 61, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, in Louisville.
Son of the late Jesse Osborne and Emma Bault Osborne, he was born in Taylor County, Ky., on Nov. 13, 1942. He was a member of Iroquois Presbyterian Church and was a retired real estate broker.
He was married
to Ruby Osborne, who survives.
Survivors also include two daughters, Kathy Hurst and Mitzi Garrison, both of Louisville; four grandchildren; one brother, Donnie Osborne of Campbellsville; and three sisters, Kaye Hudgins, Jane Moore and Jessie Lee, all of Campbellsville.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Sept. 16 at Iroquois Presbyterian Church in Louisville. The body was cremated.

Raymond Perkins, 66
Raymond Perkins, 66, of South Central Avenue in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Springfield Nursing and Rehab after an illness.
Survivors include his companion, Pauline Hovious; four sons, Tony Perkins, Greg Perkins and Keith Perkins, all of Campbellsville, and Junior Perkins of Bradfordsville, Ky.; two daughters, Shannon Viers and Caroline Smothers, both of Campbellsville; one grandchild; two step-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth Perkins, Louis Perkins and Glenn Perkins, all of Campbellsville; and one sister, Geraldine Ford of Campbellsville.
Funeral was Thursday, Sept. 16 at Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Raymond Vannice, 77
Raymond Vannice, 77, of Jonathan Drive in Campbellsville, Ky., died at 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late Harry Vannice and Dora Dorsett Vannice, he was born in Baker, Ill., on Aug. 25, 1927. He was a member of Palestine Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict.
He married
Mary Aline Sluder on July 16, 1953. She survives.
Survivors also include seven daughters and four sons-in-law, Bonnie and Dan Ackley, Brenda Vannice and Susan Vannice, all of Campbellsville, Cathy and Larry Tungate and Wanda Peavey, all of Elkhorn, Ky., Julie and William Fisher of Bradfordsville, Ky., and Ruth and Tom Warren of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Terry and Cindy Vannice, Randy and Barbara Vannice and Jeffrey and Lois Vannice, all of Campbellsville; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert Vannice of Sheridan, Ill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Louie Vannice; and one sister, Delores Pfortmiller.
Funeral was on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Danny Pace officiated. Burial was in Lebanon National Cemetery with military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Timmy Fisher, Adam Tungate, Larry Tungate, Scotty Tungate, Andy Vannice and Larry Wethington.
James E. Wilcoxson, 66
James E. Wilcoxson, 66, of Roland Street in Campbellsville, Ky., died at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late Edgar Wilcoxson and Vera Wright Wilcoxson, he was born in Green County, Ky., on July 21, 1938. He was of the Baptist faith and a retired employee of Campbellsville Water Co.
He was married
to Annie Philyaw Wilcoxson, who survives.
Survivors also include one daughter, Jamie Rogers of Campbellsville; two sons, Keith Wilcoxson and Ronnie Wilcoxson, both of Campbellsville; four step-sons, Carl Whitaker and Jeffrey Whitaker, both of Campbellsville, Larry Whitaker of Tennessee and Thomas Whitaker of Frenchburg, Ky.; one step-daughter, Janie Dile of Greensburg, Ky.; five grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; foster parents, George and Gertrude Haynes of Campbellsville; four foster brothers, Raymond Haynes of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Eddie Haynes, Gordon Haynes and Marvin Haynes, all of Campbellsville; one foster sister, Liz Gilbert of Campbellsville; one half brother, Edgar "Pete" Wilcoxson of Washington; and three half sisters, Martha Janes of Florida, Lou Anna Frazee of Florida and Mary Helen Stack of Illinois.
Funeral was Monday, Sept. 20 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Pastor Bob Cutler and the Rev. George R. Gaddie officiated.
Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
