Esther A. Carroll, 91
Esther A. Carroll, 91, died on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Mount Vernon Nursing & Rehabilitation in Mount Vernon, Ind.
Daughter of the late Walter and Martha Knight Blackburn, she was a 77-year member of Mount Vernon General Baptist Church and a long-term member of the Philathea Sunday School Class. Carroll was a member of the Ladies Aid Quilters and retired from the cafeteria at Mount Vernon High School.
She was married
to William Carroll, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Wayne Carroll of Mount Vernon; three daughters and one son-in-law, Judy Benton of Paris, Ill., Mary Jane and Gordon Weddle of Campbellsville, Ky., and Betty Stevens of Mount Vernon; one sister, June Russell of Mount Vernon; one brother, Richard Blackburn of Columbus, Miss.; five grandchildren, Michael Carroll, Jacob M. Carroll and Jesse Carroll, all of Mount Vernon, John Weddle of Campbellsville, and Lora Gabbert of Louisville, Ky.; and two great-grandchildren, Madison Moore of Evansville, Ind., and Jacob A. Carroll of Mount Vernon.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.
Funeral was Friday, Oct. 22, 2004, at Austin Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, with Dr. Franklin Dummond officiating. Burial was in the Bellefontaine Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Vernon General Baptist Church.
Angela Lorena Hardesty Goodall, 84
Angela Lorena Hardesty Goodall, 84, of Russell Springs, Ky., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2004, at Britthaven Nursing Home in Somerset, Ky., after an illness.
She was the daughter of the late Kendrick and Isabella Yates Hardesty of Meade County.
She was married
to James Robert Goodall, who preceded her death in 1974
Goodall is survived by one granddaughter and her husband, Angela Jo and Bob Williams of Russell Springs; two great-grandchildren, Charley Ann Williams and Robert Daniel Williams II, both of Russell Springs; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Marjorie Hardesty and Mary Lillian Barham, both of Brandenburg, and Teresa and Arthur Nash and Kenny Barmore, all of Louisville.
She was also preceded in death by one son, James L. Goodall in 2002; two brothers, William Owen Hardesty and Joseph Carl Hardesty; and one sister, Nora Kathleen Barmore.
Funeral was Monday, Oct. 25 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville. A prayer service was Sunday, Oct. 24 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Father Thomas Clark officiated.
Pallbearers were Mark Nash, Gregory Nash, Jimmy Pollock, Richard Preston and John Allen Hamm.
Donnie Lee Bishop, 59
Donnie Lee Bishop, 59, of Green County, Ky., died on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2004, in Greensburg at the Todd Crawford Hospital.
Son of the Naomi Mays Bishop of Greensburg and the late Stanley Bishop, he was born on Nov. 5, 1944 in Green County.
He was a member of Ladies Chapel United Methodist Church, where he was the song leader for many years. He was an employee of Houchens Market for 38 years, being the produce manager for the past several years.
He was married
to Phyllis Keltner on Oct. 8, 1967. She survives.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Shae and Robbie Morgan and Baerette Bishop, all of Greensburg; two sisters, Patsy Bishop and Regina Bishop, both of Greensburg; and one brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Betty Bishop of Hillsboro, Ohio.
Funeral was Tuesday, Nov. 2 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in the Ladies Chapel Cemetery. The Rev. Travis Keltner and the Rev. William Davenport officiated.
Pallbearers were Bill Jones, Randall Beams, Jeff Casey, Herman Cook, John McCloughan, Richard Slucher, Mike Ingram and Terry Thompson.
Memorials are suggested to the Donnie Bishop Scholarship Fund or the American Cancer Society and can be made at the funeral home.
Margie Ruth McGee Ernest, 71
Margie Ruth McGee Ernest, 71, of Quinn Lane in Campbellsville, Ky., formerly of Adair County, Ky., died at 2:42 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004, at Audubon Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Daughter of the late Welby and Thelma Mae Dixon Giles of Adair County, Ky., she was a foster parent for mentally and physically handicapped people for 37 years in Nevada and had received a certificate from the governor of Nevada for maintaining one of the longest-running residential homes for the mentally and physically handicapped.
She was married
to Ronald Ernest, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Dr. Max Downey; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Kathy McGee of Fallow, Nev.; one brother, Wilby E. Giles of Sun City, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Christopher Collins and his wife Jacqueline and Heather McGee; three step-grandchildren, Brian Downey, Erin Eubank and Laura Brummett; one great-grandchild, Kiara Collins; and two step-great-grandchildren, Maggie Brummett and Allie Brummett.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Sullivan; and two brothers, Dwight Edgar "Jody" Giles and Edmund Coy Giles.
Funeral was Thursday, Nov. 4 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia, Ky. Bro. Hershey Giles officiated. Burial was in Caldwell Chapel Cemetery in Knifley, Ky.
Pallbearers were Dr. Patrick Sullivan, Christopher Collins, Ron Beaty, Brian Downey, Matthew Brummett and David Eubank.
David M. Hogan, 55
David M. Hogan, 55, of Bradfordsville Road in Mannsville, Ky., died at 6:44 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Son of Clair Hogan of San Diego, Calif. and the late Ernest Max Hogan, he was born in Louisville, Ky., on Feb. 7, 1949. He attended Mannsville United Methodist Church, was a retired employee of Daimler Chrysler Company in Michigan and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Sheri and Wally Soro of San Diego; his grandmother, Flossie Edelen of Mannsville; and two nephews and one niece: Dylan Soro, Derek Soro and Ashley Soro, all of San Diego.
Funeral was Monday, Oct. 18 at Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. John Blakey officiated. Burial was in Spurlington United Methodist Church Cemetery with military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Pallbearers were Phillip Edelen, Tim Edelen, Tony Edelen, Eric Ford, Roy Holt and Danny Wheeler.
DeAnna M. Ramsey, 38
DeAnna M. "Dee" Ramsey, 38, of Franklin Grove, Ill., died in an auto collision on Oct. 31, 2004.
Daughter of Lois Burke of Rochelle, Ill., and Howard Mayes of Campbellsville, she was born in Ottawa, Ill. on June 6, 1966. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ashton, Ill.
Survivors include her step-father, Mike Burke of Rochelle; her step-mother, Carletta Mayes of Campbellsville; one son, Trevor Ramsey of Franklin Grove; three daughters, Ashley Ramsey, Chante Ramsey and Kelsey Ramsey, all of Franklin Grove; her grandmother, Mary Frank Mayes of Campbellsville; one brother, Howard Keith Mayes of Lebanon, Ky.; one half-brother, William Howard Mayes of Wyanet, Ill.; and one half-sister, Amanda Mayes of Wyanet.
Funeral was Thursday, Nov. 4 at Lyons Cluts-Simes Funeral Home in Ashton. The Rev. Dana LaBerge officiated. Burial was in Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle.
The Dee Ramsey Memorial Fund has been established for her children.
Edward N. Roberts, 83
Edward N. Roberts, 83, of Columbia, Ky., died at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Fair Oaks Health Systems in Jamestown, Ky., after an illness.
Son of the late Acel and Laura Barrett Roberts, he was a member of New Hope Separate Baptist Church, a World War II veteran and a member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge #96.
He was married
to Edith Boone Roberts, who survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Larry Roberts and John Roberts, both of Fillmore, Ind., and Ray Roberts of Bainbridge, Ind.; two daughters, Connie Jeter of Pittsboro, Ind., and Sheila Cash of Greencastle, Ind.; a special sister-in-law, Frances Visnick of Humboldt, Tenn.; one sister, Nellie Bryant of Columbia; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Saturday, Oct. 30 at New Hope Separate Baptist Church. Bro. Hershey Giles and Bro. David Coffey officiated. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery with military rights by the local VFW Post 6097.
Pallbearers were Larry Roberts, Brian Jeter, Anthony Jeter, James Roberts, David Roberts and Glen Roberts.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons.
