Flossie Neat, 73
Flossie Neat, 73, of Columbia, Ky., died at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Summit Manor Nursing Home in Columbia after an illness.
Daughter of the late Tandy and Pearl Hadley Campbell, she was a member of New Hope Separate Baptist Church, a factory worker and a caregiver.
She was married
to Cosby Ray Neat, who preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1971.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Byron Hixson of Columbia; three sons and daughters-in-law; Dallas and Sheila Neat and Jeff and Rita Neat, all of Columbia, and Dewayne and Rhonda Neat of Russell Springs, Ky.; one brother, Donald "Buck" Campbell of Columbia; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Sunday, Nov. 21 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. David Coffey officiated. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Barry Hixson, Gary Hixson, Jamey Neat, Scotty Neat, Donald "Buck" Campbell and Byron Hixson.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society and may be made at the funeral home.
Eula 'Bootsie' Ellis, 90
Eula "Bootsie" Ellis, 90, of South Central Avenue in Campbellsville, Ky., died at 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 8, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Daughter of the late Fred Wright and Maggie Phillips Wright, she was born in Taylor County on June 15, 1914. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She married
Paul R. Ellis on Dec. 24, 1941. He preceded her in death on Feb. 16, 1997.
Survivors include one son, Tim W. Ellis and his fianc/, Wanda Tucker, of Campbellsville; one grandson, Tim Ellis Jr. of Louisiana; one brother-in-law, Reed St. Clair of Campbellsville; and one sister-in-law, Mae Brock of Louisiana.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ora Mae St. Clair on Dec. 6, 1998; and one brother, Rosby "Jack" Wright on July 6, 1987.
Funeral was Thursday, Nov. 11 at Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Gene Weddle officiated. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mark Oakes, Allen Pike, Roger St. Clair, Milton Williams, Fred Wright and John Wright.
Helen Sapp Harden, 83
Helen Sapp Harden, 83, of Liberty Road in Campbellsville, died at 3:32 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Daughter of the late George Sapp and Tommie Phillips Sapp, she was born in Jeffersonville, Ind., on Aug. 30, 1921. She was a retired teacher, having taught at Mannsville Elementary School for 37 years.
She married
Sam Harden on Jan. 9, 1942. He survives.
Survivors also include one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jack MacConaugha of Campbellsville; two step-granddaughters, Hope Genrich of Atlanta, Ga., and April Bouras of Elizabethtown, Ky.; two great-grandchildren, Paul Bouras and Emelia Bouras, both of Elizabethtown; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and John Gaines of Campbellsville; one brother and sister-in-law, Bradley and Fannie Sapp of Campbellsville; one sister-in-law, Janice Gaines of Campbellsville; and special friends, Raymond and Exie Burress of Campbellsville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Sapp and Elan Sapp; and two sisters, Geneva Rueff and Magdaline Wise.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18 at Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Glenn Gasser will officiate. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Raymond Burress, Gene Hoffman, Dorse King, Pat McCullum, Kris Stines and Tommy Taylor.
Herman Tucker, 59
Herman Tucker, 59, of Knifley, Ky., died on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at his home after a long illness.
Son of Oconal Tucker of Knifley and the late Gussie Emma Perkins Tucker, he was a disabled auto collision repairman, a member of Old Paths Chapel in Knifley and a member of gospel music groups The Tucker Family and The Glad Praise Singers.
He was married
to Pauletta Warren Tucker, who survives.
Survivors also include one son, Chief Warrant Officer II James Tucker of Campbellsville; one daughter and son-in-law, Deedra and Bobby Bray of Casey Creek, Ky.; two brothers, Sam Tucker and Danny Tucker, both of Knifley; three sisters, Joene Tucker, Treva Warren and Mae Sneed, all of Knifley; two grandchildren, Spc. B.J. Bray, who's stationed in Iraq, and Paul Lee Bray of Campbellsville.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Tucker.
Funeral was Saturday, Nov. 20 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial was in Robinson Chapel Cemetery in Knifley.
Opal Close, 90
Opal Close, 90, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, at Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Daughter of the late Daniel Price and Florence Cassidy Price, she was born in Metcalfe County on Aug. 12, 1914. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
She was married
to George Close, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Close; one daughter-in-law, Martha Jo Blakeman of Greensburg; one grandson, Matt Close of Maryland; two nephews, Roger Simmons and his wife, Judith, and Gail Simmons, all of Edmonton, Ky.; one niece, Doris Slinker of Greensburg; and one great-nephew, Kerry Davis and his wife, Lanetta, of Greensburg.
Funeral was Saturday, Nov. 13 at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg. The Rev. Ivan Jones officiated. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Billy Holland, Bub Bonta, Billy Dangerfield, Jimmy Lobb, Dillard Vanarsdall, Wallace White and Mike Davis.
R. Henry Cowherd, 54
R. Henry Cowherd, 54, of New York, recently of Bolivia, South America, died on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in Bolivia.
Son of Ina Graybeal Cowherd Phipps and the late Robert H. Cowherd, he was born in Taylor County on Sept. 27, 1950. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, a 1981 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, where he received a graphic arts and photography degree. He had done archeological work in Jordan and Egypt for the University of Chicago and Amman University in Jordan and worked with children and did missionary work in Bolivia.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his step-father, Paul Phipps; one brother, Roy Cowherd; one sister, Lena Cowherd McCubbin; one niece; and three nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Marshall Cowherd.
Funeral was Saturday, Nov. 20 at Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Gene Weddle and Dr. Ted Beam officiated.
Charles I. Williams Sr., 74
Charles I. Williams Sr., 74, of Aurora, Ill., died on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, while visiting his hometown of Campbellsville.
He was the son of the late Rosie and Claire Williams.
Williams was married
to Mary Catherine Williams, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Charles "Sonny" Williams and Randall Williams, both of Aurora; one daughter, Lisa Williams of Aurora; four brothers; three sisters; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 10 a.m. at The Main Baptist Church in Aurora. Burial will be in Aurora, Ill.
