John M. Rafferty, 78
John M. Rafferty, 78, of Rafferty Road in Campbellsville, died on Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville after an illness.
Son of the late Elmer and Ethel Caulk Rafferty of Taylor County, Ky., he was a retired farmer.
He was married
to Ruby Allene Rafferty, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Walter Ray Rafferty and Steve and Carrie Rafferty; two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Billy Benningfield and Kathy and Ricky Rood; eight grandchildren; one step-grandchild; one great-grandchild; three step-grandchildren; one brother, William Rafferty of Illinois; and one sister, Nellie Milby of Campbellsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, John Michael Rafferty; and two brothers, Walter Rafferty and Ben Rafferty.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville. Bro. Danny Nelson and Bryan Rafferty will officiate. Burial will be in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Tommy Maupin, Gordon Howell, Terry Dooley, Mike Hovious, Tommy Clark, Billy Gene Rafferty and Jimmy Benningfield.
Honorary pallbearers are Dillard Rafferty, Gordon Clark, George Carter, Sam Graham, James Kessler, Darrell Davis and Orville Lee Newton.
Frances Williams Marple, 94
Frances Williams Marple, 94, of Redmon Avenue in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at Metzmeier Nursing Home in Campbellsville after an illness.
Daughter of the late James and Roberta Parker Williams of Taylor County, she was a retired restaurant employee and a member of First Methodist Church in Campbellsville.
She was married
to George Marple, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Rachael and Dick Rich of Paducah, Ky., and Jane and Frankie Johns of Nashville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral was Thursday, Dec. 9 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville. Bro. Ted Beam officiated. Burial was in Green River Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were David Johns, Kevin Johns, Todd Johns, Mitchell Johns, Steve Rich and Justin Johns.
Betty Sue Goodin Newton, 58
Betty Sue Goodin Newton, 58, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Adair County, Ky., died on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004.
Daughter of Lois Holt Goodin and the late Elbert Goodin, she attended Unity Baptist Church in Louisville.
She was married
to Sam Newton, who preceded her in death in 1997.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Monica Newton of Louisville; two sisters, Linda Burton and Joyce Durham, both of Columbia; and six brothers, Dr. Robert Goodin, Fred Goodin and Donnie Goodin, all of Louisville, Dr. Dale Goodin of Versailles, Ky., and Jerry Goodin and Bro. Terry Goodin, both of Columbia.
Funeral was Monday, Dec. 6 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Richard Lehman officiated. Burial was in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Charles Reesor Pierce, 89, of Larkspur Lane in Campbellsville died at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, in Campbellsville.
Son of the late Thomas Lewis Pierce and Ada Hash Pierce, he was born in Taylor County, Ky., on Feb. 26, 1915. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and was a retired farmer and carpenter.
He married
Annie Ernestine Paxton on Jan. 6, 1940. She survives.
Survivors also include one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and William Terry of Paducah, Ky.; one son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Mary Pierce of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Amy Jo Pierce of Bowling Green, Ky., Gina Eagan and her husband, Richard, of Charlotte, N.C.; Vernon O.C. Spurling II of Louisville and Cara Terry of Paducah; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Allen Bell and Lauren Chantelle Bell, both of Charlotte, N.C.; and one sister, Florine Caulk of Campbellsville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Henry Coleman Pierce on Feb. 5, 1970; three brothers, Willis Pierce, Buckner Pierce and Omer Pierce; and one sister, Mattie Walters.
Funeral was Wednesday, Dec. 8 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Revs. J. Alvin Hardy and George R. Gaddie officiated. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery in Green County, Ky.

Martha E. Rhynearson, 88, of Louisville, Ky., formerly of Campbellsville, died at 4:10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in Louisville.
Daughter of the late Chester D. Wise and Mary Eva Phillips Wise, she was born in Taylor County, Ky., on Jan. 21, 1916. She was a member of Fairdale Baptist Church and was a retired Jefferson County school teacher.
She married
Bearl T. Rhynearson on Dec. 24, 1938. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1970.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Eva Matheny and Helen Kay Horn, both of Louisville; one son, Charles T. Rhynearson of Campbellsville; five grandchildren, Douglas Russell of Taylorsville, Ky., Jeffrey Scott of Mt. Washington, Ky., Katie Horn of Louisville, Pam White of Campbellsville and Keith Rhynearson of Oklahoma; five great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; two brothers, Floyd Wise and Ernest Wise Sr., both of Campbellsville; and two sisters, Margaret Edith Parson of Campbellsville and Gladys Bowen of Hamilton, Ohio.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Ray Rhynearson on March 2, 1989; two brothers, Albert Wise and Richard Wise; and one sister, Bessie Whitlock.
Funeral was Sunday, Dec. 5 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Carlis Compton officiated. Burial was in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

Fidelia Mae Rodgers, 92
Fidelia Mae Rodgers, 92, of LaGrange, Ky., died on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in LaGrange.
Daughter of the late George Allen Wilson and Loretta Hayes Wilson, she was born in Green County, Ky., on Oct. 18, 1912. She was a member of DeHaven Memorial Baptist Church.
She was married
to Beaufort Rodgers, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Sylvia Rodgers and Peggy Hoagland, both of LaGrange, Liz Schulte of Ballardsville, Ky., and Kathy Kramer of Dothan, Ala.; one brother, George H. Wilson of Greensburg, Ky.; two sisters, Madelyn Hancock of Bowling Green, Ind., and Roxie Papa of Valparaiso, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Emma Crider.
Funeral was Monday, Dec. 6 at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home in LaGrange.
