DeAnna Mayes Ramsey, 38

DeAnna Mayes "Dee" Ramsey, 38, of Franklin Grove, Ill., died in an auto collision on Oct. 31, 2004.

Daughter of Lois Burke of Rochelle, Ill., and Howard Mayes of Campbellsville, she was born in Ottawa, Ill., on June 6, 1966. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ashton, Ill.

Survivors also include her step-father, Mike Burke of Rochelle; her step-mother, Carlotta Mayes of Campbellsville; one son, Trevor Ramsey of Franklin Grove; three daughters, Ashley Ramsey, Chante Ramsey and Kelsey Ramsey, all of Franklin Grove; her grandmother, Mary Frank Mayes of Campbellsville; one brother, Howard Keith Mayes of Lebanon, Ky.; one half-brother, William Howard Mayes of Wyanet, Ill.; one half-sister, Amanda Mayes of Wyanet; and two aunts, Darlene Netherland of Campbellsville and Marcia Shrum of Paducah, Ky.

Funeral was Thursday, Nov. 4 at Lyons Cluts-Simes Funeral Home in Ashton. The Rev. Dana LaBerge officiated. Burial was in Trinity Memory Gardens in Rochelle.

The DeAnna Mayes Ramsey Memorial Fund has been established for her children. Contributions may be sent to Holcomb State Bank, 233 E. Illinois Route 38, Rochelle, Ill. 61068.

Mary Frances Needham, 84

Mary Frances Needham, 84, formerly of Campbellsville, died on Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, in Shawnee, Kan.

Daughter of the late Howard and Rachel Russell, she was born in Adair County, Ky., on Dec. 8, 1920. She graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1945 with a degree in education and a minor in chemistry, was a chemist with Tennessee Valley Authority and Auburn University and a teacher in West Virginia. She was active in several charities and organizations including Daughters of the American Revolution, American Association of University Women, American Business Women's Association, Campbellsville Business and Professional Women and served as President of the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association Auxiliary. She also a Kentucky Colonel and a member of Bethel First Presbyterian Church, where she served as an elder.

She married Dr. Robert Needham in September 1945. He preceded her in death in 1973.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Vince Teahan of Kansas City, Kan.; and four grandchildren, Rachel, Jessica, Sean and Erin, all of Lenexa, Kansas.

Funeral was Monday, Dec. 13 at Lyon DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery.

Pallbearers were members of Bethel First Presbyterian Church.

Herman L. Patton, 75

Herman L. Patton, 75, of South Clark Road in Campbellsville died at 9 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004, in Huntington, W.Va.

Son of the late Willie Patton and Ethel Brown Patton, he was born on July 6, 1929 in Casey County, Ky. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the Kentucky Colonels, a carpenter and was an employee of General Electric in Evendale, Ohio.

He married Nora Garrett on April 27, 1953. She survives.

Survivors also include one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Gary and Mabel Patton of Rush, Ky.; two grandchildren, Monica and James Howell of Concord, N.C., and Kyle Patton of Huntington; one great-grandson, James Logan Howell of Concord; one brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Paul W. and Carol Patton of Campbellsville; and five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Hilda Ellis of Jamestown, Ky., Shirley and William Hansford of Liberty, Ky., Helen and Marvin Meredith and Wanda and Gary Frederick, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Thelma and Don Garcia of Fallbrook, Calif.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Nathaniel T. Patton; and two sisters, Dorothy Patton and Linda Sue Patton.

Funeral was Wednesday, Dec. 15 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Drs. James E. Jones and Paul W. Patton officiated. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in Casey County, Ky. with full military honors by the Casey County Veterans.

Pallbearers were Larry Garrett, Greg Hansford, James Howell, Gerald Meredith, Kyle Patton and Darrell Pendleton.

Robert D. 'Bobby' Sharp, 39

Robert D. "Bobby" Sharp, 39, of Campbellsville died on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Taylor Regional Hospital after an illness.

Son of the late Riley and Betty Sharp, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Christopher Sharp and Greg Sharp; and one sister, Jannet Mann.

Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Annette Sharp of Scottsville, Ky.; one step-sister, Debbie Gray of Ohio; an uncle and aunt, Jimmy and Donnetta Sharp of Campbellsville; and a special friend, Ruth Warner of Campbellsville.

Funeral was Tuesday, Dec. 14 at Jesus Name Church Cemetery. Elders Ruehl Boils and Jimmy Sharp officiated.

Julia L. Townsend, 70

Julia L. Townsend, 70, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Taylor County, died at 11:24 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2004, in Indiana.

Daughter of the late Forest E. St. Clair and Mary Lou Page St. Clair, she was born in Taylor County on March 23, 1934. She was a member of Apostolic Hope Tabernacle, a homemaker, a former employee of Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and a former member of the Monroe Lodge.

She married Ralph W. Townsend on July 3, 1961. He survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Kim Landrem of Indiana; four grandchildren, Ashley Townsend, Kayla Townsend, Lacie Townsend and Kirstin Landrem; one great-granddaughter; five sisters, Ruby Dudgeon of North Vernon, Ind., Carolyn Hilgemeier of Indianapolis, Ind., Youla Caudill of Taylorsville, Ind., Linda Harrington of Russell Springs and Phyllis Humphress of Campbellsville; and two brothers, William Wayne St. Clair of Leesburg, Fla., and Billy D. St. Clair of Madisonville, Tenn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Kelley Townsend; and one sister, Betty Jean Kirtley.

Funeral was Friday, Dec. 17 at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus, Ind. The Rev. Dale Goddard officiated. Burial was in Daugherty Cemetery in Indiana.

Clarice Butler Willis, 86

Clarice Butler Willis, 86, of Brandon, Fla., formerly of Milltown, Ky., died on Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at Hawthorne Health and Rehab Center in Brandon.

Daughter of the late John A. and Cappie Poynter Butler of Adair County, Ky., she was of the Methodist faith and was a homemaker.

She was married to L.J. Willis, who preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2001.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Bill Littell of Valrico, Fla.; and one sister, Ellen Page of Columbia.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Leslie Littell in 1981.

Funeral was Friday, Dec. 10 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bro. Lonnie Karnes officiated. Burial was in Union Cemetery in Gradyville, Ky.

Lela H. Kessler, 97

Lela H. Kessler, 97, of Arkansas died on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at Parkway Village Nursing Center in Little Rock, Ark.

Daughter of the late Rev. John Hamilton and Beecher Ambrose Hamilton, she was born in Hartford, Ky., on Sept. 21, 1907. She was a 1930 graduate of Logan College in Russellville, Ky., and was an elementary school teacher for about 40 years.

She married E. Marshall Kessler on March 21, 1937. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Warren H. Kessler of Roland, Ark.; six sisters-in-law, Gladys Pierce, Mazetta Wilcoxson, Hortense Kessler and Lillie Kessler, all of Greensburg, Ky., Beatrice Kessler of Buffalo, Ky., and Mayme Kessler of Campbellsville; three grandchildren, Shawn Kessler, Todd Kessler and Jeremy Kessler; and one great-grandchild, Madelle Kessler.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, McDowell Hamilton.

Funeral was Thursday, Dec. 16 at Campbellsville Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Joseph Wilcoxson officiated.

Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg was in charge of the arrangements.
