Granville C. Coulter, 72

Granville C. Coulter, 72, of Campbellsville Road in Buffalo, Ky., died on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

Son of the late Prentice and Mary Frances Alford Coulter, he was born in Marion County, Ky. on Oct. 23, 1932. He was a retired trucker for P.S.C. Trucking.

He was married to Edna Mae Coulter, who survives.

Survivors also include three sons, Kenneth Coulter and William Murray, both of Campbellsville, and Ronald Coulter of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, Judy Farmer of Big Creek, Ky.; four brothers, George Coulter of Florida, Robert Coulter, Bernard Coulter and David Coulter, all of Louisville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Campbell-DeWitt Funeral Home. Deacon Joe Dant officiated. Burial was in St. Augustine Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Coulter Sr., Kenneth Coulter Jr., David Coulter, Thomas Coulter, Mike Coulter, Brian Adams, Bruce Archer and Tyler Gaddie.

Benjamin Thomson DeSpain, 16

Benjamin Thomson DeSpain, 16, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in Louisville, Ky., at his grandmother's home.

Son of James and Mary Thomson DeSpain, he was born in Louisville on July 30, 1988. He was a member of Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors also include his grandmother, Beth Thomson of Louisville; his sister, Brooke DeSpain of Lexington, Ky.; his brother, Max DeSpain of Greensburg; two special great-aunts, Hortense Bloyd and Fanola DeSpain, both of Greensburg; three uncles and three aunts, Joseph and Ann DeSpain of Campbellsville, David DeSpain of Greensburg, Phil and Jeannie DeSpain of Indiana, Linda and Phil Fitzgerald of Louisville, Jackie and Mark Brighty of Bedford and Benita and Gary Hutt of Indiana.

Funeral was Saturday, Jan. 1 at Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The Revs. Kevin Brantley and Freddie Norris officiated. Burial was in Greensburg Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Daniel Bennett, Mark Brighty, Phil DeSpain, Matthew Edwards, Phil Fitzgerald, Joe DeSpain, Gary Hutt and David DeSpain.

Honorary pallbearers were his classmates and teachers, Eloise Keltner, Todd Tucker, Rita Paxton, Betty Carol Milby, Tim Deaton, Mike Mills and Paula VanMeter.

Luther Dial, 80

Luther Dial, 80, of Green County, Ky., died on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, Ky.

Son of the late Johnny W. Dial and Louise Estes Dial, he was born in Adair County, Ky., on Aug. 18, 1924. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

He was married to Ruby Nell Compton on April 23, 1947. She preceded him in death on March 1, 1997.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, David Russell Dial of Campbellsville, Roy Davis and Patricia Dial of Glasgow, Ky., and Randall Dale and Karen Dial of Summersville, Ky.; four daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Lane and Randall J. Creason, Roxie Joyce and Willie Skaggs, all of Summersville, Brenda and Ron Babcock of Columbia, Ky., and Bonnie and Rickey Russell of Greensburg; two sisters, Frances Smith of Columbia and Louise Scott of Louisville; one brother, Ray Dial of Indiana; 23 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.

Funeral was Saturday, Jan. 1 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. The Revs. Danny Nelson, G.L. Vittitow and Raymond Clark officiated. Burial was in Green County Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Lillard Pierce, Barry Pierce, Ralph Harmon, Glen Scott, William Dial and Robert Allen Smith.

Honorary pallbearers were all his other nephews.

Louise Bland, 78

Louise Bland, 78, of Beechwood Drive in Campbellsville, died at 11:23 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Daughter of the late Tom White and Pauline Charley White, she was born in Washington County, Ky., on Sept. 20, 1926. She was a member of Raikes Hill Baptist Church.

She was married to Hurshel Bland on May 10, 1945. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 1989.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Jim Gabehart of Campbellsville; one son, Tommy Bland of Campbellsville; three step-children, Carlos Bland of Campbellsville, Jerry Bland of Mannsville, and Wanda Perkins and her husband Clarence of Lebanon, Ky.; 12 grandchildren, Alecia Hunt and her husband Danny of Elizabethtown, Ky., Aaron Gabehart, Hannah Wise, Kent Bland, Lisa Oliver and Penny Nalley, all of Campbellsville, Connie Barnes and Tim Cash, both of Mannsville, Daneen Stanley of Hodgenville, Ky., Jason Bland of Bowling Green, Ky., Sherry Luckett of Mt. Washington, Ky., and Michelle Harden of Lebanon; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean Lawson and Gaye Terrell, both of Springfield, Ky.; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Brenda White of Willisburg, Ky., and Perry and Teresa White of Mackville, Ky.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandchild, Michael Bland; one brother, Thomas White; and one sister, Joyce Curtsinger.

Funeral was Thursday, Dec. 30 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Ed Hamlin officiated. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Slade Barnes, Jason Bland, Kent Bland, Tim Cash, Aaron Gabehart and Danny Hunt.

Honorary pallbearers were her nieces and nephews.

L.T. Clarkson, 83

L.T. Clarkson, 83, of Osage Avenue in Campbellsville, died on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville.

Son of the late William and Lorene Tungate Clarkson, he was a retired farmer.

Survivors include one daughter, Letha Ann Gabehart of Campbellsville; two grandchildren, Connie Nelson and Tracy Clarkson, both of Campbellsville; one brother, Johnny Clarkson of Lebanon, Ky.; one sister, Ruby Dye of Bardstown, Ky.; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was Monday, Jan. 3 at Lyon DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville. Larry Rhodes officiated. Burial was in Lebanon National Cemetery with full military honors.

Paul O. Cecil Jr., 77

Paul O. Cecil Jr., 77, of Patterson Court in Campbellsville died at 5:38 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Son of the late Paul Oscar Cecil Sr. and Delia Settles Cecil, he was born in Marion County, Ky., on June 7, 1927. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, a retired district manager for Gordon Foods and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was married to Shirley Kippes on May 9, 1953. She survives.

Survivors also include three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sheila Cecil of Burlington, Ky., Greg and Sherry Cecil of Franklin, Ky., and Dale and Cheri Cecil of Glen Ellen, Calif.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sandy England of Campbellsville and Annie and Don Pullen of Elizabethtown, Ky.; seven grandchildren, Veronica England and Alex England, both of Campbellsville, Chad Haynes of Auburn, Ky., Paige Cecil of Franklin, Jesse Agricuta, Jordan Agricuta and Autumn Rose Cecil, all of Glen Ellen; two great-grandchildren, Katie England of Campbellsville and Trent Pullen of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Norma Shain of Bardstown, Ky., and Betty Browning of Jeffersontown, Ky.; and three brothers, Victor Cecil of Tucson, Ariz., Ernest Cecil of Nashville, Tenn., and Joe Cecil of Louisville, Ky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Archer; and two brothers, Albert Cecil and Ray Cecil.

Funeral was Tuesday, Jan. 4 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Campbellsville. The Revs. Jim Mudd and Jeffrey P. Leger officiated. Burial was in Lebanon National Cemetery with full military honors by Marion County Veterans.

Pallbearers were Buddy Archer, Alan Browning, Gerald Browning, Alex England, James Fultz, Danny McGinnis, Dennis Shain and David Smith.

Christine Dowell Guy, 82

Christine Dowell Guy, 82, of San Bernardino, Calif., died at 8:20 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, in Long Beach, Calif.

Daughter of the late R. Garnett Dowell and Mary A. Rucker Dowell, she was born in Taylor County on Nov. 8, 1922. She was a retired school teacher and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dr. Richard Miller of Long Beach; three grandchildren, Thomas Millsap and his wife, Wendie, of Yorba Linda, Calif., and Amanda Miller and Madalyn Miller, both of Long Beach; two great-grandchildren, Alexandra Millsap and McKenna Millsap, both of Yorba Linda; one sister, Corinne Allen of Campbellsville; and one nephew and his wife, William Dowell and Evelyn Allen of Chase City, Virginia.

Funeral was Thursday, Jan. 6 at Brookside Cemetery.

Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
