Mr. MORRIS ROBERT "DOC" SIMMONS

Mr. Morris Robert “Doc” Simmons of Greensburg, son of the late Felix Simmons and Laura Conover Simmons, was born on Monday, May 12, 1919 in Adair County, Kentucky and departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. He was 87 years, 3 months and 14 days of age.

He was known for his sense-of-humor, never met a stranger and had a kind word for all. He was a devoted husband and father. An athlete himself, he encouraged countless youth over the years by supporting youth sports in Greensburg.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church, a veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal on more than one occasion, served honorably in the United States Navy and a member of the Rod Lowe Post #124.

He united in marriage to Evelyn Milby on March 11, 1946 who survives.

Mr. Simmons is also survived by a daughter & son-in-law: Diane Simmons and Paul L. Andis of Frankfort; a sister-in-law: Nancy Milby of Greensburg and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services for Mr. Morris Robert “Doc” Simmons will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Monday, August 28, 2006 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Green County Memory Gardens with full military honors. Rev. Freddie Norris and Rev. Kevin Brantley and will be officiating.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Green County Little League Baseball Program, which can be made at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eleanor Carlson Gorin Skaff of Greensburg, daughter of the late John Nicolas Carlson and Elin Amanda Olson Carlson, was born on Saturday, March 6, 1915 in Gilbert, Minnesota and departed this life on Friday, October 6, 2006 at the University of Louisville Hospital. She was 91 years and 7 months of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Gilbert, Minnesota Presbyterian Church, the Greensburg Presbyterian Church and attended the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She attended Virginia Junior College, University of Minnesota and received her Masters Degree in Public Service from Western Kentucky University. She worked with the Y.W.C.A and the Pillsbury Settlement in Minneapolis, the Neighborhood House in Louisville, State and Federal Government Agencies and the Greeensburg Record-Herald. She was a member of the Greensburg Art Club, the Saturday Morning Breakfast Club and an active volunteer of numerous organizations.

She was united in marriage to Jameson Dearen Gorin on August 16, 1941 and he preceded her in death on October 25, 1963. She then united in marriage to Alfred Paul Skaff on September 22, 1973 and he also preceded her in death on May 3, 1978.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Walt and Anne Gorin of Greensburg; two granddaughters: Anne Michelle Gorin of Louisville and Jill Carlson Gorin of Nashville, Tennessee; three brothers: Clint Carlson of International Falls, Minnesota, Walt Carlson of St. Paul, Minnesota and Myron Carlson of Nashwauk, Minnesota; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Skaff was also preceded in death by two brothers: Arlin Carlson and Dean Carlson.

The funeral services for Mrs. Eleanor Carlson Gorin Skaff will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 9, 2006 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery. Bro. Freddie Norris and Bro. Kevin Brantley will be officiating.

Ms. Sarah Evelyn Upchurch of Greensburg, daughter of the late Henry Neal and Litha Shelton Neal, was born on Tuesday, March 15, 1921 in Albany, Clinton County, Kentucky and departed this life on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. She was 85 years, 5 months and 11 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

She united in marriage to Rev. Charles Arthur Upchurch on April 12, 1938 who preceded her in death on May 3, 1986.

Other survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law: Teddy and Carol Upchurch of Greensburg, Eddie Upchurch of Greensburg, Reed and Linda Upchurch of Campbellsville; two daughters and sons-in-law: Betty and Kevin Johns of Campbellsville and Brenda and James Loy of Greensburg; a sister: Bernice Clark of Indiana; two sisters-in-law: Ethel Arthur and Wanda Marcum both of Indiana; one brother-in-law: Everett R. Upchurch of Indiana; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters: Dorothy Neal, Kate Guffey, and Irene Bell; five brothers: Charlie Neal, Clyde Neal, Raymond Neal, Everett Neal and Floyd Neal.

The funeral services for Ms. Sarah Evelyn Upchurch will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 29, 2006 at the Greensburg United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Dale Curry will be officiating. Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

Myzetta Kessler Wilcoxson, daughter of the late James A. Kessler and Leorah B. Henderson Kessler, was born on Wednesday, January 2, 1918 in Green County and departed this life on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She was 88 years, 8 months and 1 day of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Liletown United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

She united in marriage to Rual E. Wilcoxson on November 30, 1939 who preceded her in death on May 4, 1976. She was also preceded in death by one daughter: Judith Ann McKinney.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Douglas and Gina Wilcoxson of Somerset; a son-in-law: Robert McKinney of Greensburg; four grandchildren and spouses: Amanda and Donnie Watson of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Angela and Gary Whittle of Danville, Emily Wilcoxson of Elizabethtown, and Chris and Tiffany Wilcoxson of Brunswick, Maine; five great-grandchildren: Joni Wilcoxson, Jordan Wilcoxson and Dustin Wilcoxson all of Maine, Casey Whittle and Garrick Whittle both of Danville; a sister: Gladys Pierce of Greensburg and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services for Myzetta Kessler Wilcoxson will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Wilcoxson Cemetery in the Liletown Community. Rev. Chris Wilcoxson and Rev. Doug Wilcoxson will be officiating.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Methodist Children's Home in Versailles, which can be made at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Gregory 'Greg' Dennis Strader, son of Ann Thompson Strader of Greensburg and the late W.D. Strader, was born on Thursday, May 2, 1957 in Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky, and departed this life on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at his home in Greensburg. He was 49 years, 6 months and 27 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church, a member of the Green County Golf Association, and a former City Maintenance employee.

He united in marriage to Patti Pickett on June 3, 1977 who survives.

Other survivors include a daughter: Haley Nicole Strader of Greensburg; a brother: Ricky Strader of Campbellsville; his mother-in-law: Janet Pickett of Greensburg; one niece and nephew; and a host of other relatives and many friends.

The funeral services for Mr. Gregory 'Greg' Dennis Strader will be conducted at 10:00 A.M., at the Greensburg United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Bro. Dale Curry and J.W. Bennett will be officiating. Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Green County Girl's Golf Team or the Greensburg United Methodist Church, which can be made at the funeral home.

Mr. Dennis Odell McKinney, son of the late Mr. Aubrey Gather McKinney and Mrs. Audrey Kidd McKinney, was born on Thursday, May 22, 1924 in Green County and departed this life on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the St. Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville. He was 82 years, 5 months, and 27 days of age.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Vine Street Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of World War II, where he served in the United States Army. He was a mechanic for many years and worked several years for Sam Swope Honda.

He united in marriage to Miss Dorothy Jeffries on November 3, 1945, who preceded him in death on June 22, 1998. To this union were born two sons: Donnie McKinney of Louisville and Dennis Odell McKinney, Jr., who preceded his parents in death on December 26, 1961.

Mr. McKinney was also survived by his daughter-in-law: Bonnie McKinney of Louisville; a brother: Bobbie McKinney of Green County; two sisters: Dena Methroth of Louisville and Donna Ray Roberts of Jaybez; two grandchildren: Sondra Davis of Louisville and Kevin Odell McKinney of Louisville; three great-grandchildren: Alexandra Cooper, Christina Cooper, and Christian Cooper; a special friend: Edith Pickett of Greensburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services for Mr. Dennis Odell McKinney will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Greensburg Cemetery with full Military Honors. Bro. Gleason Bloyd will be officiating.
