Jack Beckner, Age 61, a former resident of Laurel County passed away thursday at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Edgewood, Kentucky. He was the husband of Priscilla Griffith Beckner, Carrollton, Kentucky. The father of Jack R. Beckner, Jr., Williamstown, Kentucky and Elizabeth A. Floyd of Owenton, Kentucky. The brother of Larry Beckner and Gary McVay both of London, Kentucky, Lewis McVay Ross of Ohio and Theresa Watkins of Somerset, Kentucky.

Otto L. "Toby" Loving, Sr., age 60, of Shelbyville, KY died suddenly on Monday, April 21, 2003 at Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville, KY. Mr. Loving was a native of Shelbyville, KY and the son of the late Winfred M. Loving, Sr. and Georgia Lee Russell Loving. He was a butcher for Fisher Packing Company and had retired after 35 years of service. During the 1970s, he coached Little League Baseball and Booster League Basketball. He was a member of Clay Street Baptist Church and had been attending Shiloh Baptist Church in his later years.
He was married
to Marie Overall Loving. This union was blessed with eight children, three of which preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Ann Marie Loving of Louisville; four sons, Otto L. Loving, Jr. of Shelbyville, Timothy Wayne Edward (Carolyn) Loving of Houston, TX, Todd Douglas Loving of Shelbyville and Mahdee (Chrystal) Mohammand of Louisville; seven sisters, Sara Frances Ashby of Louisville, Laura L. Moorman, Virginia Overall and Beatrice Bray of Shelbyville, Hattie Payne of Louisville, Mattie Purdy of Urbana, IL and Nadirah Nu'Man of LaGrange; four brothers, Winfred M. Loving, Jr., Russell Loving, Sr. and Scott Loving of Shelbyville and Jonas Loving of Louisville; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Jacob Lee, Jr. age 79, died Sunday, March 16, 2003 at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN. He was a resident of Green Valley Convalescent Center in New Albany. He was a native of Senatobia, MS and the son of the late Pearl Betts and Jacob Lee, Sr. During the 1937 flood, at age 14, his family moved to Shelbyville, KY. A few years later, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served for three years. He spent 30 months in Germany and received an Honorable Discharge. He was awarded the E.A.M.E. Theatre Ribbon with five Bronze Stars.
In 1947, he married
Stella Katherine Wilson. Four children were born to this union: Edward Earl, Lewis Bernard, Anita Louise and Austin Levant Lee. While married, Jake and Stella were charter members of the Mr. and Mrs. Club.
He was employed by Bowling Green Trucking Line for nearly 30 years and was a member of the Teamsters Local 89.
In addition to his four children named above, he is survived by a daughter, Hilda (Alvin) Benn, Pasadena, CA; a daughter-in-law and friend, Linda Lee; his former mother-in-law and friend, Mrs. Louise Wilson; his former sister-in-law and friend, Mrs. Mary Anna McNeal, 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
