James Michael Barnett 56, of 4301 Greenback Road; Utica, Kentucky. Died Wednesday November 12, 2003 at the Owensboro Medical Health Systems in Owensboro. James Michael Barnett was born August 23, 1947 in Owensboro to Tom & Martine Crabtree Barnett. He was an electrician at the former Green River Steel Mill in Owensboro, was a member of the Sacramento United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Sacramento Lodge #735 F. & A.M. He also enjoyed woodworking, and the outdoors through gardening and working in his yard. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom Barnett.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Gwyn Harmon Barnett. A son, Christopher James Barnett of Sacramento. Two daughters and their husbands, Sarah Barnett & Tommy Burrough of Sacramento and Laryssa Barnett & Marty Traylor of Owensboro. A granddaughter, Emily Nelle Burrough of Sacramento. His mother, Martine Crabtree Barnett of Sacramento. Two brothers, Danny T. Barnett of Rumsey and Timothy W. Barnett of Daytona, Florida. And an uncle, Billy Joe Crabtree of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Jesse Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Sacramento Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Barnett Family from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Friday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Saturday at Musters in Calhoun. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the James Michael Barnett, Memorial Fund; C/O B.B. & T.; P.O. Box 130; Calhoun, Kentucky 42327. Marilyn June Browning 62, of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Friday, November 21, 2003 at the Owensboro Medical Health Systems in Owensboro. Marilyn June Hayden was born December 14, 1940 in Calhoun to the late John Truman “Jack” & Annie “Sue” Smith Hayden. She was a 1958 Graduate of Calhoun High School and was married April 11, 1959 in Calhoun to James Leonard Browning. Marilyn was employed by the McLean County Board of Education and was a member of the Calhoun Baptist Church. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. Her husband of 43 years, James L. “Brownie” Browning died August 14, 2002.

Survivors include a son, Mark Browning of Calhoun. Two daughters & sons-in-law, Monica & Mickey Little of Livermore and Dana & Darren Curry of Calhoun. Three grandchildren, Jill Little of Louisville, Neil Little of Livermore, and Allison June Browning of Calhoun. Three brothers, Carl Hayden, Ray Hayden, and Clint Hayden all of Calhoun. And two sisters, Lena Tanner of Beech Grove, and Ann Helm of Pensacola, Floirda.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Browning Family from 2:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Monday at Musters in Calhoun. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.

Jennie E. Corum 89, of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at the Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. Jennie Epley Corum was born August 4, 1914 in McLean County to the late John & Sarah Epley. She had retired after 24 years of service from the General Electric Corporation of Owensboro and was a member of the Calhoun Christian Church. Her husband, Robert R. Corum died March 27, 1985. She was also preceded in death by a son, Hugh C. Corum, who died March 31, 1997.

Survivors include a son, John R. Corum of Calhoun. Two daughters and a son-in-law, Alice Appleby of Louisville and Peggy & Charles Hughes of Slaughters. 9 grandchildren. And 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Drex Stuart officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Corum Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Thursday at Musters in Calhoun. The Corum Family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Calhoun Christian Church, Building Fund; C/O Rev. Drex Stuart; P.O. Box 67; Calhoun, Kentucky 42327. Elmer J. "Junior" Ross

Elmer J. “Junior” Ross 81, of Owensboro, Kentucky. Died Thursday, November 27, 2003 at his home in Owensboro. He was born April 22, 1922 in Rumsey and was a retired farmer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 696 in Owensboro.

Survivors include a son, Danny J. Ross of Utica. Two daughters, Linda Frey of Owensboro, and Lana Wathen of Atlanta. 7 grandchildren. 4 great grandchildren. And a sister, Reva Ruffin of Copperas Cove, Texas.

Private graveside services will be held Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the Poplar Grove Cemetery in McLean County with Rev. James E. Talley officiating. There will be no visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Poplar Grove Cemetery Fund; C/O Jerry L. Baggett; 5007 Pack Church Road; Rumsey, Kentucky 42371. Mearl Hester O’Bryan 88, of Rumsey, Kentucky. Died Tuesday December 2, 2003 at the Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. Lola Mearl Hester was born February 10, 1915 in Ashbyburg, Kentucky to the late Jack & Willie Smith Hester and was married to Marcellus “Pat” O’Bryan on September 3, 1939 in Owensboro. She was a homemaker and a member of the Who So Ever Will Mission in Calhoun where she was an Ordained Minister. Mearl enjoyed crocheting, gardening, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her husband of 53 years, Pat O’Bryan died June 29, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Pearl Woosley, two sisters, Oma Ehlschide and Hallie Sheffield; and by two brothers, T.J. Hester and William Netter Hester.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Joseph & Janis O’Bryan of Madison Heights, Michigan and Thomas & Robbie O’Bryan of Virginia. A daughter & her husband, Galena & Tom Fulkerson of Calhoun. Eight grandchildren, Tommy Carroll Fulkerson of Atlanta, David Brice Fulkerson of Crestwood, Robert Allen Fulkerson of Georgetown, John Mark Fulkerson of Owensboro, Tracy Lynn Haimes of Utica, Pamela Jean Murdock of Sterling Heights, Michigan, Thomas Edward O’Bryan and Donna Marie Torrey both of Virginia. Three step grandchildren, Lisa Barnhouse, Scott Mitchell, and Greg Mitchell all of Virginia. 12 great grandchildren. 6 step great grandchildren. A brother, Marion Hester of Owensboro. And several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Who So Ever Will Mission in Calhoun with Dr. Richard Sams and Rev. Chester Todd officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery. Friends may visit with the O’Bryan Family from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and from 8:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Friday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Calhoun Cemetery, Tornado Relief Fund; C/O Winfred Williams; P.O. Irene Goode Clark 93, of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Thursday, November 6, 2003 at the Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. Irene was born November 27, 1909 in Glenville to the late Al & Mary Stiles Goode. She was a homemaker and a member of the Calhoun United Methodist Church. Irene also enjoyed gardening, horses, and caring for her flowers. Her husband, J.M. Clark died May 15, 1977.

Survivors include two sons & their wives, Lindley & Judy Clark of Hernando, Mississippi and Charlie & Carolyn Clark of Calhoun. Seven grandchildren, Al Clark, Thomas Clark, Jennifer Mullins, Tony Clark, Jonathan Clark, Allison Johnson, and Kevin Clark. And 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Calhoun United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Sharber and the Rev. Ken Berggren officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun Cemetery. Friends may visit with the Clark Family from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Saturday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Lena Belle Page 93, of 10846 Mill Street; Utica, Kentucky. Died Monday December 1, 2003 at a daughter’s home in Calhoun. Lena Belle was born July 23, 1910 in McLean County to the late A.C. “Rete” & Edna Pearl Hatfield King and was married to Edward Page February 20, 1930 in Providence, Kentucky. She had worked as a nurse’s assistant at the former Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital for more than 27 years. Lena Belle Page was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, canning, and was a seamstress. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Howard Riley; a granddaughter, Linda Joyce Page; and two sisters, Christine Shelton and Ethelene Duke.

Survivors include her husband of 73 years, Edward Page. Two sons and daughters-in-law, Carrol R. & Fay Page of Utica and Charles E. & Anne Page of Lambertsville, Michigan. Two daughters and a son-in-law, Anita Riley of Owensboro and Patricia & Rodney Howard of Calhoun. 14 grandchildren. 29 great grandchildren. 12 great great grandchildren. And a sister, Hazel Cleo Henton of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hope Cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the Page Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Pleasant Hope Cemetery Fund; C/O Guy S. Howard; 3706 Kentucky 136 East; Calhoun, Kentucky 42327. Lydia Ranes Qualls 101, of Utica, Kentucky. Died Tuesday October 21, 2003 at the Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro. Mrs. Qualls was born January 14, 1902 in Hopkins County and was a homemaker. Her husband, Joel Qualls died in 1978. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Qualls died in 1937; a son, Paul Qualls died in 2000; and a grandson, Bobby Guy Atherton died in 1973.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Cletus & Shirley Qualls of Navarre, Florida. A daughter and her husband, Lorena Q. & Guy “Wimpy” Atherton of Utica. A daughter-in-law, Phyllis Qualls of Summerville, South Carolina. 10 grandchildren. 17 great grandchildren. And 6 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with her grandson, Mr. Douglas Qualls officiating. Burial will be in the Slaughters Cemetery in Hopkins County. Friends may visit with the Qualls Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Thursday at Musters in Livermore.
