“PH” of “Prentice” as many of his friends and family called him, was born on August 25, 1907. Just one month short of his 97th birthday, he had outlived many of his friends and relatives. His wife of 65 years, Hugh Bell Smith died on August 17, 1997. Mr. Smith was self employed as a farmer and as the owner-operator of a service station and Hotpoint dealership in Calhoun. Often he would just fly around the farm to see where the cattle were, although he and his wife also flew on trips to Michigan, Tennessee, and other locations. For the past seven years, health concerns caused Mr. Smith to move to One Park Place in Owensboro.
