STANFORD - Elizabeth Holtzclaw Reeves, 86, of Stanford died Wednesday night at the McDowell Place in Danville. She was a native of Stanford and was born July 28, 1915.
She was the daughter of the late Ambrose Wesley and Mary Elizabeth McCalister Holtzclaw.
She was a member of the Harris Memorial United Methodist Church of Stanford. Also was the retired vice president of former Lincoln County National Bank for 42 years.
She was the wife of the late Ben Reeves. She has one sister; Nancy Holtzclaw Weirbach, of Santa Barbara, CA. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers; Robert Holtzclaw and Hugh Sam Holtzclaw.
The active pallbearers will be Gary Cole, Samuel Cole, Tommy Davis, Clayton Davis, Mark Davis, Jeff Joiner, and Ben Reeves. The honorary pallbearers will be the friends of the McDowell Place.
The visitation wil be Friday, July 12, 2002 from 5-7p.m. The funeral services will be Saturday, July 13 2002 at 10 a.m. All of which will be at Spurlin Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Beck will be officiating the services, and the burial will take place at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

ALFRED E. LAYER, JR., 79, OF STANFORD DIED FRIDAY JUNE 16 AT HIS HOME. HE IS THE SON OF THE LATE ALFRED E. LAYER, SR. AND THE LATE ESTER COOPER LAYER. HE RETIRED AS A COMMAND SGT. MAJOR WITH THE U.S. ARMY AFTER 30 YEARS OF SERVICE. ALFRED, ALSO KNOWN AS "SARGE" BY HIS COMMRADES, FRIENDS AND FAMILY, WAS A WWII, KOREAN AND VIETNAM WAR VETERAN. HE WAS A MEMBER OF CASWELL SAUFLEY POST #18 AMERICAN LEGION FOR 22 YEARS. HE WAS AN IMPORTANT MEMBER AND LEADER OF THE POST #18 MILITARY HONOR GUARD WHERE HE WAS THE FINANCE OFFICER.
ALFRED IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE IVA BAILEY LAYER, ONE SON-MATTHEW DANIEL LAYER (DIANE) OF HENDERSONVILLE, TN; ONE DAUGHTER- SHARON LAYER SUMNER (BILL) OF TOMBALL, TX; FIVE GRANDCHILDREN - LELSEY LAYER, MIKAELA LAYER, WES SUMNER (ERIN), JENNIFER CREWS (JOHN) AND LEIGHANN TAYLOR (GORDON. FOUR GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.

JOE B. DAVIDSON, 84, OF STANFORD DIED TUESDAY AT STANFORD HEALTH AND REHABILITATION CENTER. BORN JUNE 11, 1922 IN LONDON, KY TO THE LATE G.E. AND MAGGIE GILBERT DAVIDSON. HE SERVED IN THE AIR FORCE FOR 30 YEARS WHILE SERVING IN WWII, KOREAN AND VIETNAM WARS. HE ALSO WORKED FOR THE CIVIL SERVICE AT FT. CAMPBELL, KY FOR 8 YEARS, HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE TURNERSVILLE CHRISTIAN CHURCH.
SURVIVORS INCLUDE HIS WIFE, ANNA LEE SMITH DAVIDSON OF STANFORD; ONE DAUGHTER - VICKY L. DAVIDSON OF ATLANTA, GEORGIA; ONE BROTHER- RALIEGH LEE DAVIDSON OF YEARINGTON, NEVADA AND ONE SISTER- MARTHA IRVINE OF STANFORD.
HE IS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY A DAUGHTER - JOE ANN DAVIDSON.

Mrs. Alice Holland, 80, of Madisonville, KY, died Thursday, November 13, 2003, at 4:45 P.M., at her home.
Born August 23, 1923, in Marion, IL, she was the daughter of the late Glen Guy Canada and Myrtle Wheatley Canada.
Mrs. Holland was a homemaker and was a lunchroom employee for the Madisonville North Hopkins High School. She was also a member of the Dogwood Christian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde Holland of Madisonville; one daughter, Mrs. Cindy May of Brandon, FL; one son, David Holland of Dawson Springs, KY; one brother, Maurice Canada of De Sota, IL; and one granddaughter, Lisa Holland.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 16, 2003, at 11:00 A.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Dill officiating. Burial will follow in McNeely Cemetery near Dawson Springs, KY.
Visitation will be Sunday from 9:00 A.M. until the service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Harold Edwin Babb, 56, of Madisonville, KY died 8:54 P.M. Sunday, September 28, 2003, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Born September 7, 1947 in Hopkins Co., KY he was the son of the late Harold Clifton Babb and Genevieve Koon Babb Phaup.
Mr. Babb was a self employed master electrician. He was president of Madisonville Bass Club, was an avid fisherman, vice president of KY Bass Federation, member of WalMart Bass Fishing League, Casting for Kids and many youth fishing programs. He was a member of E. W. Turner Masonic Lodge #548 F & AM of Earlington, KY.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, Georgia Jones Babb; one daughter, Lisa Dawn Stokes of Madisonville; two sons, Troy Crabtree of Columbus, GA and Keith Crabtree of Madisonville and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Ruby Rickard officiating. Burial will be in Grapevine Cemetery.
Pallbearers will Donnie Cato, Gary Cato, Kelly Brooks, Duane Snyder, Clem Mathers, Jim Blair, Mike Wells and Roger Walters.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and after noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lou Ann Wolford, 82, of Madisonville, KY, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at 6:00 P.M., at her residence.
Born July 8, 1923, in Rushville, IN, she was the daughter of the late Paul Phillips and Gladys Wallace Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Wolford in 1982.
Mrs. Wolford was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Hopkins County Historical Society where she worked and volunteered.
She is survived by two sons, James W. Wolford of Owensboro, KY, and Mike D. Wolford of Madisonville; one sister, Jeanne Woolsey of Daleville, IN; a cousin, Mary Louise Lang of Tampa, FL, and four grandsons, Scott Wolford of Atlanta, GA, Charles Wolford of Owensboro, Phillip Wolford of Columbus, OH, and Patrick Wolford of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 15, 2006, at 10:00 A.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Don Davis officiating. Graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN, at 3:00 P.M. EST on Thursday afternoon.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 14, 2006, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 8:00 A.M. until the service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may take the form of donations to the Hopkins County Historical Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
