Mrs. Ruth Buchanan, 88, of Madisonville, KY, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at 4:10 P.M., at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville.
Born April 25, 1918, in Russellville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Elwood Clark and Azile Fuqua Baker Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James David “J. D.” Buchanan on February 22, 2002, and two sisters, Elwood “Woodie” Payne and Ida Elizabeth Page.
Mrs. Buchanan was a nurses aid in surgery at Hopkins County Hospital and a member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville. She was an avid gardener, quilter and seamstress.
She is survived by her son, Dowis (Linda) Buchanan of Madisonville; a sister, Bobbie Carol Copeland of Peoria, IL; a brother, Daniel Baker Clark of Russellville, KY; three grandchildren, Stacy Grant of Madisonville, Wendy Blaine of Texas, and Chad Greer of Hanson, KY, and a great grandchild, Macy Blaine of Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery in Hanson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, May 12, 2006, and from 10:00 A.M. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Pollard, Brad Pollard, Jason Pollard, Mike Schuette, Mike Hancock and Donnie Jones.
Memorials may take the form of donations to Green River Hospice or the Mahr Cancer Center. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mrs. Emma Bell Porter Leasure, 84, of Madisonville, KY, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at 6:20 P.M., at Brighton Cornerstone Health Care in Madisonville.
Born January 2, 1922, in Hopkins County, KY, she was the daughter of the late Claud Porter and Eva Bell Porter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lora Lowrance.
Mrs. Leasure was a member of First Baptist Church in Madisonville, was a University of Kentucky graduate and a retired librarian with the Hopkins County School System.
She is survived by her husband J. C. Leasure of Madisonville; a daughter, Claudia Arnett of Madisonville; a son, Douglas Leasure of Madisonville; a sister, Mary D. Oates of Madisonville; a brother, Thomas H. Porter of Nebo, KY, and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 13, 2006, at 2:00 P.M., at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, May 12, 2006, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 1:00 P.M. until the service time on Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Raymond Roy Young, 77, of Madisonville, KY died at 7:20 A.M. Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.
Born November 19, 1928 in Bloomington, IL he was the son of the late Coy Oscar Young and Alta Boswell Young. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Cleo J. Young on January 14, 1987 and two brothers.
He was a retired machinist for General Electric in Tell City, IN and a retired minister of the Apostolic and Pentecostal faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and an avid fisherman and golfer.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Datha Gary Young of Madisonville; two daughters, Janice Wynn of New Albany, IN and Anita Brooks of Smyrna, TN; one stepson, Chuck Bridges of Naples, FL; four sisters, Ava Wilson of Milwaukee, WS, Gladys Rustemeyer of Bloomington, IL, Dorothy Barbee of Lafayette, IN and Helen Thomas of West Lafayette, IN; eight grandchildren and three great - grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 7:30 P.M. Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the Praise Temple with Rev. Philip Cook and Rev. Richard Sisk officiating. Burial will follow on Friday with graveside services at the Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette, IN at 2:30 P.M. Pallbearers will be Cloyd Wynn, Jerry Brooks, Thad Wynn, Mike Ekbundit, Shea Brooks and Lee Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Holum and Mark Russell.
Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Thursday at the Praise Temple.

Mr. Clarence F. Scott, 73, of Madisonville, KY, died at 8:30 A.M. Monday, May 8, 2006, at Brighton Cornerstone Healthcare in Madisonville.
Born May 8, 1933 in Hopkins County, KY. He was the son of Nathaniel H. Scott and Mable Shadrick Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeff Scott; one sister, Mary Beth Long and one brother, Curtis Scott.
Mr. Scott was a retired coal miner for Green River Coal Company and a US Army Veteran.
Surviving are two daughters, Robin Guynn and Jill Scott, both of Madisonville; one son, Kurt Scott of Manitou, KY; one brother, Alton Scott of Manitou and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 12, 2006, at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff E. Scott, Nathaniel A. Scott, Logan T. Scott, Daniel L. Gipson, Timothy Kenney and Jeff Guynn.

Mrs. Margaret “Ann” Brown, 72, of Madisonville, KY died at 5:48 P.M. Monday, May 1, 2006 at her home.
Born May 29, 1933 in Webster County, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late James E. Corbin and Trudy Sigler Corbin.
She was a member of the Providence First Baptist Church, the Library Board, the Mothers Club and the Pakendahl Club.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Douglas E. Brown of Madisonville; one daughter, Rebecca Brown Gatti of Louisville, KY; four sons, Douglas E. Brown II of Henderson, NV, Eric C. Brown of Marshall County, KY, Carl J. Brown of Crittenden County, KY and Barton L. Brown of Springfield, VA; two brothers, James E. Corbin Jr. of Urbana, IL and Carl S. Corbin of Providence, KY; eighteen grandchildren and one great - grandchild.
A Memorial service to celebrate of the life of Margaret Ann Brown will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 5, 2006 at Providence First Baptist Church with Rev. Alan McCutchen and Rev. Mack Gibson officiating.

Mrs. Mildred Kathryn (Millie) Grissom Cunningham of Madisonville, Kentucky formerly of Hawthorne, Nevada died at her home on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 4:54 P.M.
She was the daughter of the late Rollie P. and Alice Brown Grissom of Martin, TN. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, George Lee Cunningham, on November 16, 1986, and her oldest son, George Donald (Donny) Cunningham on July 8, 2005.
She and her husband were members of the Assembly of God Church since 1945, beginning in McAlester, Oklahoma, then Hawthorne, Nevada, and Earlington, Kentucky, and was very active in every department of the Church. Some of the areas in which she served were teaching Sunday School for many years, leader of the Women’s Missionary Council and teacher and sponsor of the young peoples group. She was also a member of the Queen of the Lake Rebekah Lodge #20 in Hawthorne, Nevada, and a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Hawthorne. She worked and retired from Fidel’s Clothing and Department Store where she was a sales clerk and cashier.
After retiring to Madisonville with her husband, she volunteered at Waddill Avenue Elementary School for several years and was a volunteer at the Christian Food Bank of Hopkins County. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, ceramics, and all types of crafts.
She is survived by her son and daughter - in - law, Billy W. and Karen L. Cunningham, and daughter - in - law Jamie Cunningham of Madisonville; three sisters, Verna Jackson, Audell Collier, and Beulah Grace all of Martin, TN; a brother - in - law, Dick Grace of Martin, TN; three grandchildren, Kari Lee Cunningham Holt (Husband J.D.) and Lisa Marie Cunningham O’Brien (Husband Sean) of Madisonville and Troy Don (Wife Anna) Cunningham of Evansville, IN; seven great - grandchildren, Hayden Holt, Tristin Holt, Landon Holt, Raegan Holt, Brittany Cunningham, Madison Cunningham, and Preston Cunningham and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 3, 2006, at the Barnett - Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Madisonville.
