Maeola Hines, 78
Maeola Hines, 78, of Hodgenville, died Oct. 17, 2005, at Woodland Terrace Nursing Home in Elizabethtown.
She was an avid quilter, a great cook, companion, teacher and a wonderful person who will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Robert and Lillie Pearl Marcum Hines; a sister, Vareitta Hines Smitha; and two brothers, Cleo and Thomas Hines.
She is survived by her caregiver and nieces, Charlotte (Mike) Tucker of Hodgenville, Cindy (Tony) Thomas and Ashley (Brandon) Ramsey, both of Elizabethtown; a sister, Phyllis (Randall) Jenkins of Elizabethtown; two brothers, Arlon (Mona) Hines of Louisville and Wayne (Gail) Hines of Greensburg; 11 nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and four great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Oct. 20, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Chaplin Larry Vance officiating. Burial followed in Buffalo Cemetery.
Douglas Allan Sutherland, 55
Douglas Allan Sutherland, 55, of Hodgenville, died Oct. 23, 2005, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of South Fork Baptist Church. He was retired from Fort Knox Civil Service with 28 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and belonged to LaRue County Sportsman Lake and to the Thursday Howardstown lunch club.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Sutherland, a daughter, Amanda Sutherland and grandparents, Flora and Ed Sutherland and Edna and Cecil Isbell.
Survivors include his mother, Virginia Isbell Sutherland; companion, Kim Bryan; four brothers, Mickey Sutherland of Elizabethtown, Steve (Eddie) Sutherland of Glasgow, Larry (Henry) Sutherland of Magnolia and Gwyn Sutherland of Cecilia; two sisters, Robert Thompson of Hodgenville and Lexie Smith of Whitehouse, Tenn.; three nieces; seven nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. at Billy Howell Funeral Chapel in Hodgenville with the Revs. Gordon McDowell and Norm Brock officiating. Burial will follow in South Fork Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Oct. 26, after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

Heriberto Madero Alamillo, 29, of Hodgenville, died Dec. 17, 2005.
He is survived by his wife Martha Calderon Martinez.
A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. today at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

Florence Bowen, 89
Florence Bowen, 89, of Magnolia, died Dec. 17, 2005, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a member of Magnolia Cumberland Presbyterian Church; a former cook at Ruth’s Lincoln Freeze; and Joel Ray Sprowls Lincoln Jamboree.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Bowen Sr.; a sister, Ella Ree Edlin; five brothers, Virgil Fultz, Marshall Fultz, Harold Fultz, Melvin Fultz and Stanley Fultz; a half-sister, Gurthie Sidebottom; and a half-brother, Elbert Fultz.
She is survived by a daughter, Naomi Ragland of Hodgenville; a son, Jr. Bowen of Magnolia; five grandchildren, Darrell Ragland, Dwayne Ragland, Malinda Logsdon, Tracey Goldsmith and Stacey Bowen; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Dec. 19 at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Norm Brock officiating. Burial followed in Magnolia Cemetery.

Gladys Wells Bowles, 93,
Gladys Wells Bowles, 93, died Dec. 17, 2005, at Kensington Manor Nursing Home in Elizabethtown.
She was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church, having served as church organist for over 50 years; a former piano instructor, having taught in Magnolia, Buffalo and Hodgenville for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Blaine Bowles; a son, Robert Nicholas “Nick” Bowles; her parents, Dr. John W. and Claudia Roby Wells; and two sisters, Lucille Beeler and Evelyn Lamkin.
She is survived by a sister-in-law of Munfordville, Mary Bowles; two nieces, Sybil (Bill) Johnson and Nancy (Barney) Witherspoon,; and two nephews, Dan (Barbe) Lamkin and John (Diane) Bowles.
Funeral services were held Dec. 20 at 11 a.m. at Magnolia Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Pollard officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery

Lula Pearl Thompson Davis, 96, of New Haven, died Dec. 5, 2005.
She is survived by a son, William Davis; and a daughter, Lois Jean Morris, both of Louisville.
Funeral services were held Dec. 9 at New Haven Baptist Church. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Harold Edward Edlin, 67
Harold Edward Edlin, 67, of Hodgenville, died Dec. 13, 2005, at his residence.
He was a member of Union Christian Church in LaRue County; retired from General Electric in Louisville after 36 years of service; a farmer, a National Guard veteran; and was an active member of the LaRue County Beef Producers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Hayes and Ora Durbin Edlin; and three sisters, Anna Laura Wiseman, Clarice Puckett and Irmogene Sprowles.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Edlin; three daughters, Donna (Marcus) LaFollette of Hodgenville, Melissa (Terry) Wyatt of Berea and Heather (Jeffery) Meredith of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Aaron LaFollette, Nicholas LaFollette, Daniel Wyatt, Austin Wyatt and Grace Meredith; and two brothers, Rev. Handley (Jane) Edlin and Truman (Joyce) Edlin, both of Hodgenville.
Funeral services were held at Union Christian Church with the Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Laura Mae Powell, 91, of Fern Creek, died Dec. 15, 2005.
She is survived by her husband, Richard B. Powell; two brothers; and two sisters.
Funeral services were held Dec. 19 at Fern Creek Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Ray Riggs, 68, of Hodgenville, died Dec. 15, 2005, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Riggs; two sons, Charlie Riggs and Joey Riggs, both of Hodgenville; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Tabb of Louisville and Bonnie Henon of Hodgenville; several stepbrothers, stepsisters and stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Sonny Williams officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery in Upton.

Catherine Price Thompson, 81, of Hodgenville, died Dec. 15, 2005, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Granville Thompson; her parents, Otto and Mattie Harris Price; three sisters, Minnie, Hallie and Fay; and five brothers, Hardin, Bill, Doug, Elzie and Bud Price.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha (Norman) Stilts of Hodgenville; a son, Leonard (Kathy) Thompson of Hodgenville; two sisters, Mary Atwell and Ann Carter, both of Hodgenville; a brother, Ray Price of Bardstown; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville. Burial followed in DeSpain Cemetery.
