Linda Wade of Elizabethtown
Linda Wade, age 63 years, of Elizabethtown, passed away, Sunday, December 21, 2014 at her residence.
She was a member of Union Christian Church. Linda was blessed with a wonderful imagination, and she was very creative as a self-employed artist and graphic designer. She enjoyed calligraphy, sculpting, and designing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett Lee and Doris Coffee Tucker.
She is survived by her husband, Dave Wade, two daughters, Susan (1SG Chris) McDuffie of Eglin AFB, Florida and Jennifer (SGM Matthew) Quick of Ft. Drumm, New York, two sisters, Carolyn Sue Thayer of Nitro, West Virginia and Bobbie Henry of Morgantown, West Virginia, a brother, Everett Lee Tucker, Jr. of Cross Lanes, West Virginia, and five grandchildren, A.J. (SN Tiffany), Zachary, Aaron, Austin, and Noah.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville is in charge of the arrangements.
Mary Elizabeth Moore of Hodgenville
Mary Elizabeth Moore, age 92, of Hodgenville, passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at the Kensington Center in Elizabethtown.
She was a housewife and member of the Hodgenville Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Eugene Denton; her parents; Arthur and Macy Ary Freeze; a sister, Marjorie Bracknell and two brothers, Ernest Ary Freeze and Arthur Freeze Jr.
She is survived by her husband, James L. Moore, Jr.; two sons, Jesse LeRoy (Jill) Denton of Lake Malone, KY and James Arthur (Judy) Moore of Plano, IL and two grandchildren, James Bryan (Kerry) Moore of Elizabethtown and Jennifer Lynn Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 7 PM, Friday, December 26, 2014, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home with Bro. Brian Wood officiating. A graveside services will be at 2 PM, CST, Sunday, December 28, 2014, at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Sharon, Tennessee.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 PM, Friday at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home.
Gerald Peace of Hodgenville
Gerald Ray Peace, age 83 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
He was a lifelong Christian of the Baptist faith, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, farmer, and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winston and Carrie Viola Robinson Peace, two sisters, Fannie Wheeler and Lura Mae Pottinger, and four brothers, Simon Leigh Peace, Calvin Coolidge Peace, Eugene Peace, and Albert Peace.
He is survived by his wife, of 54 years, Minnie Howell Peace, a sister, Viola Caven of Harrodsburg, two brothers-in-law, E. Earl Howell and John C. Howell both of Hodgenville, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Bob Boster and Rev. Dennis Peace officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Buffalo.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 PM Friday and after 9 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
Bobby Wayne Thompson of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hodgenville
Bobby Wayne Thompson, age 67, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Hodgenville, passed away, Friday, January 2, 2015, at his residence.
He was a retired farmer.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, William Ray and Mabel Scott Thompson.
He is survived by a son, Rob (Jennifer) Thompson of Charlotte North Carolina; a daughter, Bridgette Thompson of Springfield; two sisters, Margie (Junior) Warren and Mary Alice Sprowles all of Louisville; a brother, Bill (Carolyn) Thompson of Shawnee, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, January 6, 2015, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery near Buffalo.
Visitation will begin after 11 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Verna Morgan Warren of Mt. Sherman
Verna Morgan Warren, age 76, of Mt. Sherman, passed away, Sunday, January 4, 2015, at her residence.
She was a housewife.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Wade and Gracie Faulkner Morgan, six sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Paul F. Warren; a son, Donald Wayne Wilson of Mt. Sherman; a daughter, Pamela (Larry) Carter of Morning View; three step-sons, Kelly (Joyce) Warren and Paul (Sandy) Warren all of Carterville, Georgia and Gilman (Anna) Warren of Mt. Washington; three grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home, Rev. Lakie Givens officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM Monday and after 9 AM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dorman K. Gunter, Sr. of Hodgenville
Dorman K. Gunter, Sr., age 90 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
Dorman was born March 29, 1924 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was the son of Charlie E. Gunter and Willie Childress. He married
Alice L. Lewis on August 31, 1945 in Independence, Missouri. They were married
for 66 years.
He served in the United States Army Air Force with rank of Staff Sergeant and served as a gunner on a B-24 Liberator as part of the 460th Bombardment Group, known as the "Black Panthers" in Italy during World War II.
While living in Independence, he was a Lieutenant of the guard force at Lake City Ammunition Plant. He was a member of Pleasant View Christian Church in Independence, Missouri.
After retiring, he and his wife, moved to Hodgenville. He was a member of the Hodgenville Christian Church, and was known for his whistling, gardening, and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice L. Lewis Gunter, his parents, Charlie E. and Willie Childress Gunter, three sisters, Margaret E. Smith, Patricia N. Wray, and Averil G. Penny, and a brother, Charles E. Gunter, Jr.
Survivors include his son, Dorman K. (Kay) Gunter, Jr. of Hodgenville, a daughter, Sherry (Stephen) Burke of Illinois, and a grandson, Brian Burke of Illinois.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Red Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Carlton Puryear officiating.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.

Gracie Florence Ragland of Hodgenville
Gracie Florence Ragland, age 87 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a member of the Hodgenville Christian Church, former employee at the Best Western in Elizabethtown, and O.B. Payton Nursery in Hodgenville.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Arvin Ray Carter and Irvin Flint Ragland, her parents, Seaton and Dora Reeves Hoback, four brothers, Stanley Hoback, Eugene Hoback, Harvey Hoback, and Marvin Hoback, and a half-brother, Robert Reeves.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Sonny) Williams of Shepherdsville, her son, Odie Ragland of Hodgenville, two grandchildren, Tracye (Gerald) Johnson and Jake (Cindy) Williams, three great-grandchildren, Aaron Johnson, Tyler Kopple, and Blane Joyner, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with the Rev. Mark Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Levelwoods Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-8 PM Friday, and after 10 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
