Elmer Lee Chelf of Hodgenville
Elmer Lee Chelf, age 80, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
He was a founding member of Jericho Church, which is now the Hodgenville Pentecostal Church, member of Gavel Lodge #813, now Gavel Lodge #570 in Magnolia for over 40 years, retired insurance salesman for American General and in retirement worked for 16 years as a greeter at Wal-Mart. He and his wife also owned and operated Ruthies Lincoln Freeze in Hodgenville for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Mildred Druen Chelf.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 62 years, Ruth Mae Hutcherson Chelf, a daughter, Judy Kaye Grimes of Hodgenville, a son, Ronnie Lee (Donna) Chelf of Hodgenville, five grandsons, Jason (Lisa) Chelf, Chris (Christa) Grimes, Jeremy Grimes, Scotty (Whitney) Chelf and Justin Chelf, and four great-grandchildren, Ayden Chelf, Deacon Chelf, Braxton Grimes and Mady Wiatr.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Hodgenville Pentecostal Church with the Rev. David Webb and Rev. James Suits officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be 12-8 PM on Tuesday, and after 11 AM Wednesday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
Rosalie Jahnke of Hodgenville
Rosalie Jahnke, age 90 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at her residence.
The native of Alpena, Michigan was a retired registered nurse, an avid supporter of the Arbor Foundation, and of the Episcopalian faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Michael Jahnke and her parents, Eldred and Alice Franklin Hall.
She is survived by two daughters, Jill (Rick) Rock of Hodgenville and Penny (Chris) Camarata of New Mexico, a son, Lee Michael (Pam) Jahnke of California, a sister, Gerry MacQueen of Florida, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has been chosen.
Loraine Hester Ochs of Hodgenville
Loraine Hester Ochs, age 95 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center at Norton's Hospital in Louisville.
She was a faithful member of the Family Worship Center in Hodgenville, former nurse's aide at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home, charter member of the Sunrise Manor Volunteers and a long time foster parent to dozens of children since 1981.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin E. "Pop" Ochs, two daughters, Ruth Ochs Hill and Betty Ochs Kemp, two sons, Russell Ochs and Jim Ochs, her parents, Clarence Woodrow and Mary Emily Metcalf Wade, a sister, Flora Wade and two brothers, Lester Jim Wade and Ruford Wade.
She is survived by five daughters, Maxine Ochs, Diana Ochs, Sandy Ochs Griggs, Shirley Ochs Rouse and Bonnie Ochs Zeitvogel, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Pastor Mark Knight officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-7 PM Friday and after 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home until time for services.
Dorothy Lillian Sullivan of Hodgenville
Dorothy Lillian Sullivan, age 89 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by a son, Freddie Dean Sullivan, her parents, Dee and Mertie Ellen Benningfield Hunt, three brothers, Romey Hunt, Lonzie Hunt and Clifford Hunt, a half-sister, Gertie Bennett and a half-brother, Milburn Hunt.
She is survived by her husband, Dean Sullivan, two daughters, Brenda (Charles) Wells of Shepherdsville and Vivian (Terry Sr.) Bevars of Ekron, two sons, Stuart Sullivan and Steven (Sandra) Sullivan both of Hodgenville, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Pastor Donald Kennedy and Rev. Justin Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in the Buffalo Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-8 PM Sunday and after 10 AM Monday at the funeral home until time for services.
Ruby Aileen Whitlock Perkins of Hodgenville
Ruby Aileen Whitlock Perkins, age 91 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, a homemaker, retired LPN at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home and a member of LaRue Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Neal Perkins, her parents, Hubert Andrew and Ida Mae Carr Whitlock, three sisters, Darlene Miles, Nannie Greer and Geneva Carroll and three brothers, Kenneth Whitlock, Bobby Whitlock and James Donald Whitlock.
She is survived by her husband, of almost 73 years, Clifford Norman Perkins, five daughters, Wanda Baumgardner and Connie Hunt both of Hodgenville, Mary Lois Wade of Jamestown, Elaine Perkins of Louisville and Angela Voris of Elizabethtown, three sons, David Perkins of Campbellsville and Marty Perkins and Daniel Perkins both of Hodgenville, four brothers, Leon Whitlock, Asa Whitlock, Bernie Whitlock and Tommy Whitlock all of Hodgenville, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren totally nearly 80, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery in Buffalo with Billy Whitlock officiating.
Visitation will be 3-8 PM Tuesday and after 10 AM Wednesday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.

Nancy C. Stambaugh, age 70 years, of Hodgenville, formerly of Paintsville, passed away, Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the Danville Centre for Health & Rehabilitation.
She is survived by two daughters, Charlene Scites-Thompson, and her husband, Tommy of Hodgenville and Karen Michelle Scites-Hayes, and her husband, Darren of Danville, a son, Craig Scites of Elizabethtown, two brothers, Danny Ray Robinson of Florida and Wallace "Brocky" Robinson of West Virginia, four grandchildren, Corina Marie Jones,Christian Edward Jones, Rodney Thompson and Cody Thompson and a great-grandson, Christopher Rey Ricardo Jones.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

William Lee "T-Pot" Handley of Hodgenville
William Lee "T-Pot" Handley, Sr., age 82 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, retired from Houchen's Supermarket after 40 years, a United States Navy Veteran, and a current employee of Family Dollar in Hodgenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward and Annie Mae Compton Handley; four brothers, Norman, Roy, Kenneth and Robert Handley.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley Thompson Handley; a daughter, Teresa Lee (David) Handley Mitchell of Horse Cave, a son, William Lee Handley, Jr. of Hodgenville; four grandchildren, David Donald Mitchell, Jr. of Calhoun, Georgia, Talia Shaunta Mitchell of Cincinnati, Ohio, Shaquille Cox and Christopher Riggs both of Hodgenville; three sisters, Dorothy Ingram and Margaret Miller both of Louisville and Joyce Handley of Hodgenville; two brothers, George Allen Handley of Radcliff and Elmer (Debbie) Handley of Elizabethtown and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 28, 2016, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Elder Jerry Wilkinson and Rev. Billy Curle officiating. Burial will follow in the Hubbard Cemetery in Hodgenville.
Visitation will be 3 to 8 PM Wednesday and after 12 noon Thursday at the funeral home until time for services.
James Porter Flowers of Louisville, formerly of Upton
James Porter Flowers, age 93, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 after a short illness at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. He was formerly from Upton, but most recently resided in Louisville.
A gentle man whose long life touched and lifted so many has passed into God's hands. James always said to his students, "Be a scholar and a gentleman."
A teacher most of his life, he taught in Burkesville, Hodgenville, and Louisville. His last 29 years of teaching were with the Jefferson County Public Schools where he taught in the mathematics department and served as a guidance counselor at Southern High School. He was a former member of Cooper Memorial United Methodist Church in Louisville for 30 years and a current member of Hodgenville United Methodist Church for 32 years where he taught Sunday School for 25 years. He was an Army Veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dalton and Lucy King Flowers, a sister, Reeble Anderson and a brother, Kenneth Flowers.
He is survived by his precious wife of 71 years, Jean Shelley Flowers, two daughters, Marilyn (Rogers) Flowers Queen of Louisville and Debbie (Leon) Flowers Drennan of Brentwood, Tennessee. He is also survived by two sisters, Elsie Tuggle of Harrodsburg and Stella (Dumont) Souleyrette of Upton, and two brothers, Keith (Sarah) Flowers of Richmond and Dr. Randel (Kathy) Flowers of Burkesville. His pride and joy were his six grandchildren, Chad (Kim) Queen, Amy (John) Queen Graybeal, Scott (Paige) Drennan, Amanda (Adam) Queen Burks, Allyson (Luke) Drennan Sexton, and Kelsey Drennan and his nine great-grandchildren, Abi Queen, Alyssa Queen, Grayson Graybeal, Preston Graybeal, Bailey Burks, Eli Burks, Hampton Graybeal, Francie Kate Drennan and Amelia Burks, two step-great-grandchildren, Tyler Hobbs and Hayley Hobbs and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Funeral Home, 4400 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40218 with Dr. David Thomas, Rev. Karen Thomas and Rev. Bob Howell officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery.
