Geneva Bell of Hodgenville
Geneva Underwood Bell, age 94, of Hodgenville, passed away, Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville.
She was a member of the Otter Creek Separate Baptist Church in LaRue County; retired from Union Underwear in Campbellsville. Geneva loved her family, gardening, sewing, crocheting and quilting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Bell; her parents, Henry Edgar and Maudie Jones Underwood; a great-grandson, Caden Coffman and a brother, H. Duell Underwood.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris Spratt of Hodgenville; a son, Larry (Sandra) Bell of Gleanings; five grandchildren, Amy Spratt Jones, Jeremy Bell, Jonathan Spratt, Ginny Spratt Coffman and Andrew Bell; five great-grandchildren, Keegan Spratt, Kayleigh Spratt, Makayla Bell, Maddox Coffman and Cameron Martin; two sisters, Loverne Chaudoin and Margie Gribble, both of Hodgenville and two brothers, Orville (Rose) Underwood and Ray (Elva) Underwood all of Elizabethtown.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, May 13, 2016, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Eudell Stilts, Dr. Dwayne Howell and Rev. Tom Rector officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery near Buffalo.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM, Thursday and after 9 AM, Friday at the funeral home.
Danny Hickman of Hodgenville
Danny Clayton Hickman, age 68, of Hodgenville, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at his residence.
He was a retired antique dealer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Leroy and Margaret Ellen Sorrell Hickman; a sister, Bea Evans and two brothers, Bob Coovert and Frank Coovert.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie C. Hickman; two sons, Ron (Karen) Hickman of Hodgenville and Mark (Sheila) Nash of Oregon; a daughter, Cindy (Mike) Kelley of California; a sister, Carol DeHaven of South Dakota; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery near Buffalo.
The family will conduct a memorial service at a later date at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville was in charge of the arrangements.
Donald Ray Abell of Hodgenville
Donald Ray Abell, age 72, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was retired from Nationwide Uniform Company in Hodgenville and an avid sports fan and gardener.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, Robert Henderson Abell and a brother, Larry Abell.
He is survived by his wife, Shelia Newton Abell; his mother, Mary Laverne Abell of Hodgenville; a daughter, Madonna (Ricardo) Gonzalez of Portage, Indiana; a son, Clint Abell of Munfordville; two step-children, Stacey Lynn Morris of New Haven and Dallas Wayne Miracle of Buffalo; three sisters, Pat (Norman) Klinglesmith, Beverly (Donald) O'Bryan and Anita Abell all of Hodgenville; three brothers, David (Bonnie) Abell, Bobby Abell and Michael (Charline) Abell all of Hodgenville; three grandsons, Jovanny (Kim) Gonzalez, Jonathen (Brandi) Gonzalez of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Christian Gonzalez of LaFayette, Indiana.
Memorial services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2016, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville, Rev. Richard Binkley officiating.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday until time of service.
Ruby Skaggs of Hodgenville
Ruby Skaggs, age 79 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Saturday, May 28, 2016 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She is survived by a daughter, Lovie Skaggs of Hodgenville and a son, Melvin Skaggs of Hodgenville.
The family has requested cremation and there will be no services.
Creda Lorene Bright of Hodgenville
Creda Lorene Bright, age 73 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville.
She was a retired cardiac monitor technician at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown and attended Full Gospel Assembly in Hodgenville.
She was preceded in death by her father, A.P. McCray, a grandson, Levi Bright and a step-brother, Sam McCray.
She is survived by her husband, Roland Bright, three sons, Walter (Robin) Bright of Texas, Stefen (Melissa) Bright of Kansas and Tom (Sabrina) Bright of Arizona, her mother, Vivian McCray of Hodgenville, a half-sister, Sharon Lemanek of Ohio, two half-brothers, Jimmy Wade of Arkansas and Richard Gilmore of New Mexico, a step-brother, Allen McCray of Puerto Rico, 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Burial will be at 1:00 PM Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Tucker Cemetery in LaRue County.
Ruby E. Wirth of Hodgenville
Ruby Elizabeth Sullivan Wirth, age 98 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
She was a member of Full Gospel Assembly in Hodgenville, where she served faithfully as treasurer for several years, and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Wirth, a grandson, Michael Kirk, two sons-in-law, Norman Smith and Carl "Fritz" Kirk, two sisters, and three brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Lila Kirk and Mary Helen Smith both of Hodgenville and Rebecca (David) Helton of Elizabethtown, three sons, Jimmy (Jo) Wirth of Louisville and Paul J. (Peggy) Wirth and John L. (Grace) Wirth both of Hodgenville, 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Full Gospel Assembly with the Rev. Richard Binkley officiating. Burial will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville.
Visitation is 3-8 PM Friday and after 9 AM Saturday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
Dianne Lucia Ida of Hodgenville
Dianne Lucia Ida, age 57 years, of Hodgenville, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016, at her residence.
She was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven and a substitute teacher for LaRue County Schools for many years. Dianne was a water lover and enjoyed quilting, crafts, gardening and baking. She had a great love for all children, especially her grandchildren. Her family and her home were her greatest joys.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alyssa Dicesare.
She is survived by her husband, Erwin Ida; two daughters, Hope (Mike White) Ida of Jeffersonville, IN and Kristina (Asher) Bock of Elizabethtown; her mother, Hope LaChance of Hodgenville; two grandchildren, Quentin White and Kaitlynn Dicesare, six sisters, Kathleen Smith of Elizabethtown, Karen Amaral of WA, Rene Masterson of Charlestown, IN, Hope Mattingly and Brenda Powell, both of Shepherdsville and Yvonne Bagshaw of New Albany, IN, two brothers, James Kdan of Massachusetts and Ronald LaChance of Louisville and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 AM, Monday, June 6, 2016, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in New Haven with Father Chris Lubecke officiating. Burial will follow in the Ida Family Cemetery in LaRue County.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 PM, Sunday and from 9 to 10 AM, Monday at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
