WAYNESBURG -- Hazel Boyd, 88, of Eubank died Sunday at her home.
Born May 17, 1912, in Cabell County, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Nellie Guinn Harshbarger. She was a homemaker and a member of Eubank Baptist Church. She was the widow of Paul Boyd.
Survivors include a daughter, Leona Grisham of Cincinnati; a sister, Anna L. Jones of Stanford; and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Orlena B. Rigney.

Gene L. Darland
HARRODSBURG -- Gene Lance Darland, 37, of Harrodsburg died Saturday as the result of an auto accident near Mackville.
Born May 9, 1963, in Harrodsburg, he was a son of Marshall Darland and Brenda Gail Combs Darland, both of Harrodsburg. He was an employee of Trim Masters, and attended Western Kentucky University where he was a member of the track and field team.
Other survivors include two sons, Jeffrey and Jonathan Darland of Harrodsburg; three brothers, William, Dean and Lee Darland, all of Harrodsburg; a sister, Marsha Brown of Harrodsburg; maternal grandmother, Leola Combs of Harrodsburg; and a great-grandmother, Bertha Whitehouse of Harrodsburg.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ransdell Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Cloyd, Terry Coslow, Norris McKey, Dale and David Cinnamon and Chad Howard.
Visitation is after 5 p.m. today.

CRAB ORCHARD -- Services for John D. "Jack" Holmes, 73, of Ky. 643 will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. Larry Harmon and Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.
He died Saturday at Mercy Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Payne, Louie McCall, Richie, Roger and Ronnie Bray, and Bobby Turpin.
Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Nunn, Junior Lawson, Clyde Simpson, Jack McCall, Gervis Sutton, Earl Shaw, Bill Gentry and Paul Long.

Virgil Coffman
HARRODSBURG -- Virgil Coffman, 81, of Fallis Run Road died Friday at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lexington.
Born Feb. 3, 1919, in Casey County, he was the son of the late Matt and Ida Simpson Coffman. He was a retired steel worker, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of Harrodsburg Church of God.
He was the widower of Reval Jewell Coffman and the husband of Betty Burns Coffman.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, Edward Coffman of Harrodsburg, Gary Coffman of Tucson, Ariz., Larry Coffman of Shelbyville and Rick Coffman of Harrodsburg; three daughters, Jean Dattilio of Salem, Ohio, Sue Ward of Harrodsburg and Virgie Savage of Mercer County; a stepson, Terry Baker of Southport, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Jackie Long of Salvisa and Joetta McCrystal of Harrodsburg; a brother, Obert Coffman of Perryville; a sister, Mollie Lamb of Lexington; 22 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Roger Coffman, and a daughter, Dixie Carol Coffman.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery, Lincoln County.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today and after 7 a.m. Monday.

Clarence E. Daugherty
Clarence Everett Daugherty, 66, of Lexington died Friday at home.
Born May 10, 1934, in Danville, he was a son of the late Charles and Anna Mae Daugherty. He was retired from Southern Railroad and was an Air Force veteran. He was a member of Bate High School Alumni Association and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Routt Daugherty; a daughter, Gwen Buffington of Frankfort; five sons, Charles K. and Mark E. Daugherty, both of Danville and Don, Gil and June Boyce, all of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Randal T. and James M Daugherty, both of Danville; a sister, June Christy of Danville; and six grandchildren.
Services will be noon Tuesday at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Hill. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Troy Branscum, Raymond Huston, David Caldwell, Richard Caldwell, Norman Faulkner, Joey Griffin and John Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Logan, David Kinley, First Baptist Church Male Chorus and men's Bible class.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the church. Smith-Jackson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

SCIENCE HILL -- Services for Sylvia Delano Moran Long, 78, of Sims Ridge Road, Kings Mountain, were held Saturday at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home by the Rev. Mike Hatter. Burial was in Grove Ridge Cemetery.
She died Wednesday in Edgewood.
Born Feb. 24, 1922, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Lula Richardson Moran. She was a homemaker and a member of Indian Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Don C. Long; a son, C.W. Thomas of Bellevue; a daughter, Carolyn Cross of Edgewood; three brothers, Paul, Richard and Al Moran, all of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Brown.

John D. "Jack" Holmes
CRAB ORCHARD -- Jack Holmes, 73, of Ky. 643 died Saturday at Mercy Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, Ohio.
Born April 6, 1927, in Crab Orchard, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna King Holmes. He was a retired truck driver for Kenosha Auto Transport, a freight transporter for International Harvester. He was a Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Penny McCall Holmes of Crab Orchard; a son, John Stephen Holmes of West Chester, Ohio; and a grandson.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at McKnight-Martin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery, Stanford.

Beulah Peevler
LIBERTY-- Beulah Peevler, 91, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Liberty, died Friday at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati.
Born Sept. 18, 1908, in Casey County, she was a daughter of the Late Luther and Clara Lawhorn Lanham. She was a homemaker and the widow of Oliver Peavler.
Survivors include four daughters, Charlotte Phelps and Joann Hamlin, both of Loveland, Ohio, Maxine Shell of Liberty, and Pauline Anderson of Fairfield Ohio; a son, William Peavler of Loveland Ohio; two brothers, Chester Lanham of Liberty and John Lanham of Dunnville; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Trace Fork Separate Baptist Church by Rev. Junior Pittman. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation is after 11 a.m. Monday at the church.

HARRODSBURG -- Brian Patrick Ross, 18, of Cedar Street died Friday of accidental drowning while swimming in Herrington Lake.
Born Oct. 2, 1981 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Martin Wayne Ross and Kelli Chapman Ammons, both of Harrodsburg. He had worked as a Temp Services employee at Hitachi Products and was a graduate of Mercer County High School.
Other survivors include stepmother, Dana Ross of Harrodsburg; stepfather, Kenny Ammons of Harrodsburg; a brother, Aaron Ross of Harrodsburg; two sisters, Kayla Ross and Keera Roy, both of Harrodsburg; three stepbrothers, Kenneth Ammons and Ryan and Walter Eldridge, all of Harrodsburg; a stepsister, Lyndsey Ammons of Harrodsburg; maternal grandparents, Patsy Young of Lexington and Thomas Chapman of Lawrenceburg; paternal grandparents, Polly Hurst of Stanford and Ben Ross of Harrodsburg; stepgrandparents, Waldine Gray and Rita Meredith, both of Harrodsburg, and Floyd Drury of Lawrenceburg; and great-grandmother, Martha Robinson of Lawrenceburg.
